“Damn, boss. You got mighty lucky.” James smiled for the first time since he got up the morning.

“We all got lucky,” Storm said, a bit nervous about the one conscious person in the room besides them. “We all did.”

Glancing over, the woman gave a little smile before shrugging and saying, “It’s all right. I understand. Right now I wish I had what you have. At least if something happens to one, there are others left to help out and love you.”

The men were just as choked up as she was at the moment, as they knew she was right. If anything happened to one of them, there was someone else to carry on for Lyndee. David got up and made his way over to the chair next to hers and pulled her against his chest as she broke down and began to cry. As she broke down, the little boy became fussy. James went over and took him from her arms as she slid her arms around Dave’s neck, holding onto him as her life seemed to fall apart. James sat a few chairs over from the boy’s mother, letting him ride his knee like a horse. The boy laughed, not knowing his life was about to change forever. Trey took his hat off and placed it on the boy’s head, and the boy held onto it so he could see out from under it and said, “Cowboy!”

Chapter Nineteen

Twenty minutes later Lyndee exited the emergency room and was about to walk back into the waiting room, but her heart soared when the scene inside stopped her in her tracks. Trey and James were on the floor playing with the little boy. Trey was on his hands and knees and the boy was riding on his back. You could barely see the boy’s face under Trey’s hat but he seemed happy. Dave was sitting on one side of the lady and Storm was on the other side while Austin had pulled a chair in front of the woman. They were consoling her, talking to her.

Lyndee knew her men were compassionate with her but didn’t know that it extended outside the ranch. This was the first social interaction she had seen them in and she was so proud of them. Today had been an eye opener for her as to their abilities and the abilities of the ranch hands. She had found a new home and she knew in that instant she wouldn’t miss her old job.

The boy had spotted her first, pointed, then giggled. When James looked up to see what he was pointing at, he tapped Trey on the shoulder and nodded toward his lady. Trey turned his head, careful not to dislodge the tyke. He smiled happily at her. Stepping into the room, Lyndee knelt down next to him and lifted the hat slightly to look at the beaming face of the boy. “Are you having fun?”

Nodding, he spurred on his horse and Trey whinnied and rose slightly, sending the boy into more laughter. He leaned over and gave her a chaste kiss and they both heard the boy say, “Yuck,” and they both laughed. Looking over at the boy’s mother then back to Trey, he shook his head and frowned. Lyndee knew that this lady and her family were going to need all the help they could get, and she knew she wanted to give her all the help and strength she could for she knew what the kids were going to have to deal with. Placing her hand on one of Trey’s she tried to fight the tears again as her heart broke for them.

Trey looked into her eyes questionably but she shook her head to indicate it wasn’t the place and he accepted that. He went back to play with the boy until boots approaching the room then stopping brought all their attention to the doorway.

Austin, Storm, and Lyndee stood quickly to face the new arrivals. Lyndee’s fists clinched next to her when she recognized Angela standing next to Connor. Austin and Storm both stepped in front of their woman as protection, though they clinched their fists as much as she had. Storm and Austin’s faces showed their hatred for the woman as they remembered she was the one who had told Philip where to find Lyndee.

“How’s Wolf?” Connor asked, trying to break some of the tension.

It took a moment to drag their attention from their friend’s sister, the bane of their existence at the moment. They could see she had been crying as her eyes were red and she couldn’t look them in the eye. They had to wonder if Connor had done anything rash to her that could jeopardize his job, but then that wasn’t their business.

Storm spoke up finally as he dragged his eyes from Angela’s face to her brother’s. He thought Connor looked defeated and he shouldn’t have to. “He’s going to be all right. Doc came out a while ago and said he’ll be out of commission for a while and will need extensive therapy to get his shoulder to working again. According to James he flatlined twice on the way in.”

He knew he sounded harsh, but he said it to emphasize to Angela that there were consequences to the actions one takes and sometimes they could get someone killed. Angela sobbed as she covered her face with her hands then blindly turned and rushed from the room. Storm and Austin looked at Connor to see what his reaction would be. The man shrugged but stayed put.

Lyndee pushed her way past the wall of protection her men tried to present and rushed after the woman she had despised until that moment. Turning the corner into the hall she stopped for a moment to listen to see if she could hear the other woman’s high heels on the laminate floor, and when she heard them, she followed suit. Her own boots thudded loudly in the halls of the hospital as she turned this way and that until she stopped outside the small chapel. The swinging wooden doors were still moving slightly from being opened and closed.

Pushing the door open slightly Lyndee stepped into the dimly lit room. The quietness was overwhelming as she had to look around for the person she sought. Angela was in front of the alter kneeling, her hands on the floor in front of her. Walking around the back of the pews and then down the small aisle to the prostrate woman, she knelt next to her. Laying her hand on the Angela’s back, she wasn’t expecting her to flinch.

“Angela,” Lyndee spoke softly in reverence for their setting. “It’s all right. Wolf is going to be all right and I’m sure you didn’t know that Philip was going to try to kill me.”

Angela moved up so she was kneeling before she looked at Lyndee. “I’m so sorry,” she cried. “I was so jealous of you that when he stopped me in the parking lot I gave him the information he wanted. He said he was a cop and that you were a prostitute. I was so angry that the guys had chosen you over me.”

“Did Connor explain what was going on?” Lyndee asked hesitantly.

Nodding, Angela’s breath hitched. “He was so angry when he came home today. I thought he was going to hit me as he yelled at me. He told me what happened out at the ranch. I’m so sorry. I didn’t know anyone was going to get hurt. I just thought if you were a prostitute you didn’t deserve the guys so I told him where to find you. Can you ever forgive me?”

Lyndee’s hand was still on the woman’s back so she pulled Angela to her to hug her. “Yes, Angela. I forgive you. I know we all do things in the heat of anger and you didn’t know the situation. I want you to know that I love them with all my heart and I will not hurt them.”

Pulling away slightly, though still in the embrace, Angela looked into Lyndee’s eyes. “I see that in your eyes. I also saw how they looked at you and tried to protect you and I know they love you. I thought I loved them, but once I saw you with them, I knew deep down inside, I didn’t. I just wanted them to love me.”

“I know. It’s easy to fall under their spell. But we are going to make this work. I don’t want you to ever think you aren’t welcome at the house. Once this all blows over, we will all be friends,” Lyndee tried to assure her. “It’ll take some time for the men, I think, but I forgive you.”

Angela pulled Lyndee to her to hug her one last time before standing. Rising next to her, Lyndee reached over to the altar, where a box of tissue sat and pulled several out. Handing them to Angela, she escorted the woman back to the waiting room, with directions from Angela. Walking back into the room, silence fell and everyone looked to the women.

Angela looked at Lyndee for support and with a nod gave her solidarity. Casting her eyes down in guilt that everyone was watching her, Angela started to speak but found she had to start over as her first words weren’t audible. “I’m so sorry that everything happened because of me. I was jealous of Lyndee and I was mad at the three of you and I wanted to hurt you. I didn’t know anyone was going to get hurt. I know you won’t be able to forgive me, but I ask for forgiveness anyway.”

Connor got up and went to hug his sister as the Goodall brothers and Austin looked at Lyndee for support. One slight nod from her blonde head told them that she already had so they knew that was the right thing to do. The three men stood, their muscular bodies taking up a lot of space in the room, and went over to the weeping woman. Each one hugged her, assuring her that she was forgiven.

A nurse entered the room and interrupted them, telling them that they could go see Running Wolf but only for a few minutes. Excusing themselves from Connor and Angela, the foursome made their way to the ICU to see the injured ranch hand. True to the nurse’s prediction, they were only allowed a few minutes with him, assuring him they’d be back the next day to visit.

When they were finished they went back to the waiting room to say their good-byes as they had all had a stressful day and needed rest. Dave was going to stay to offer James some company as they had all become like brothers while working at the Circle G and couldn’t leave their wounded comrade without some kind of company. Also, he had bonded with the woman, Anita, and had offered his assistance should she need it.

Lyndee hugged Angela and whispered, “It’s going to be all right. We’ve forgiven you. Now you have to forgive yourself.”

Pulling away, Angela nodded. As the foursome exited the building, nurses lined up to appreciate the sight of the three men walking away as much as they had enjoyed the sight of them arriving. Walking out to the truck, they all piled in and headed home.

Lyndee squealed as she landed in the middle of her bed. Storm had carried her in from the truck fireman-style to her room then tossed her gently onto the mattress. Before she hit, he was pulling his shirt off, and as she looked toward the doorway, she found her two other men rushing in, already ridding themselves of their clothes. Licking her lips, she watched them strip before her as they never took their heated eyes off of her. She scooted back until her back was up against the headboard as she enjoyed the striptease, her nipples pebbling as moisture seeped from her cunt. She wanted them so badly.

Storm knelt on the bed to her left, smiling maliciously. “You’ve been a bad girl, darlin’. You need to be punished.”

A thrill shot through her body, straight down to her pussy at his words. Glancing over at Austin and Trey she saw the raw hunger in their eyes and knew she was in for a long night. Storm grasped her wrist and slipped a silk rope around it before tying the other end around the post on the bed over to her right, twisting her body. Pulling on her right wrist, he brought her around and pushed her facedown onto the bed, tying her right arm off to the other bed post. Looking around, she eyed his hard cock just inches from her face and tried to move to lick it but wasn’t able to move to the side. Looking further back, she could make out movement but not enough to get an idea what the others were going to do.

The bed dipped behind her and she felt knees separating her thighs. Large hands slid under her legs, lifting her while a pillow was shoved under her stomach and then another. The hands settled her down, leaving her pussy exposed and her ass sticking up in the air. A silk rope was wrapped around her left ankle and then her leg was tied to the post at the end of the bed. Anticipation filled her that her other leg was going to be tied next. She slid her other leg out to the side and she heard three chuckles.

With a whisper just inches from her ear, Storm asked, “What are you doing, darlin’? Are you in a hurry for your spanking?”

Her breath hitched at his words and she felt her pussy swell and weep. Her ass undulated a bit at the thought and she felt a large hand slide gently across one of her soft fleshy globes. Austin.

Storm slid a hand under her, found her hardened nipple, and pinched it between his thumb and forefinger. Her gasp brought out another chuckle from the man as his tongue licked at her shoulder before sliding up her neck. Austin’s hand lifted from her ass cheek as Storm’s mouth found her ear and licked at the shell of it, sending chills down her body.

Smack! Austin’s hand came down on her ass, which surprised her even though she had been warned.

“Ouch!” she squealed.

“Quiet!” Storm whispered. “You were warned and I don’t want to hear anything until your punishment is over.”

“But I don’t understand why I am being punished,” she said as she tried to process the pain that still sent tingles through her body, though it sent shocks to her pussy.

Storm stretched out next to her, letting his head rest on his hand casually to the side of hers to look into her eyes. “Oh, my love, we told you we would protect you. This morning, you were told to wait behind the panel of the playroom until we came for you, but you didn’t.”

“But Connor came for me behind the panel and took me up the back stairs. I went with him and then came to help you guys out,” Lyndee said trying to defend herself, holding onto the black silk rope around her wrists.

Storm glanced down at Austin and nodded.

Smack! The large tanned hand came down on her ass again. Austin began to rub the pink spot as she rose up into the caress and she took comfort in the action. After a few seconds, the next smack came before the next caress. This was repeated seven more times before Storm looked into her eyes again. Tears had formed there as the pain turned into pleasurable sensations radiating from her derriere, her bottom undulating in an invitation.
