Nodding, she again tried to sit up as he left the room. This time the dizziness wasn’t so bad and Austin propped up pillows behind her so she was comfortable. Taking her hand in his, she was shocked to see how it dwarfed her own but delighted in how the callused skin felt good against her soft skin. She could tell these were men who worked for a living, though she had met many a man in her line of work that did.

The thought frightened her. Her line of work? Flashes of memory floated through her mind. She was dressed in skimpy dresses along with other women, made up to look trashy, high stiletto heels strapped to her feet. What the hell? That wasn’t her at all. Shaking her head she tried to get the images to leave her brain but instead caused the dizziness to get worse, and she leaned back into the pillows, eyes shut tight.

This action wasn’t lost on the two men remaining in the room and Austin’s other hand came up and began caressing her cheek. “What is it, little one? Did you remember something?”

Nodding sadly, the tears rolled down her cheeks at the memory. Disbelief at what had been revealed through the flashback hurt her to the core as she felt she was stronger than that. But then why did her body react to the three men who had rescued her the way it had. Perhaps she was mistaken.

“My name is Lisa,” she said between sobs. “I think I am a prostitute!”

She felt Austin grab her up against his hard chest, hugging her to him in an offer of comfort. Oddly, she felt as if she was home in his arms, but the revelation was unnerving for her. She could only accept his comfort, though for how long?

Concern struck her though when she felt Trey rise from the bed and storm out of the room. Could he not deal with her so-called profession?

Storm heard Trey making his way down the hall, passing the kitchen, and letting the wood and screen door slam behind him.

Popping his head out the door of the kitchen, Storm watched his brother angrily leave the porch and stand out in the driveway talking to someone. Something had happened that had pissed his little brother off. Going back down to the bedroom, Storm took a beer for each of the men and a glass of water for their patient. Entering the doorway, he saw Austin cuddling their woman and instantly he assumed his brother was jealous.

Setting the beers down on the bedside table next to Austin, he sat on the bed and rubbed the bare leg of the woman in his cousin’s arms, again having to restrain himself. “What’s up?”

Her sobbing, which seemed to break Austin’s heart, could still be heard against his rock-hard chest. Turning his head, Austin mouthed, “Talk to Trey.”

Anger and frustration consumed Storm as he stood and made his way out to the front yard, his boots pounding on the wooden floor. When he reached his little brother, he grabbed his arm and twirled him around, demanding, “What the hell is going on?”

Trey faced his brother and held up a finger to wait a moment, listening to the person on the other end of the phone. Storm began to seethe with anger and impatience until Trey finally said his good-byes and hung up.

“Again, what the hell is going on?” he practically shouted. Then not waiting for an answer he said, “I go to fix dinner and next thing I know is you are storming through the house and that little woman is crying! Now tell me!”

Trey took a deep breath in what seemed like an attempt to remain calm. Holding the phone in his hand, he said, “She apparently had a flashback. She thinks her name is Lisa and that she’s a prostitute.”

“That’s ridiculous.” Storm gave a short laugh then sobered. “Isn’t it?”

Showing his brother the phone, Trey spoke quietly. “I sent her picture over to Connor over at the sheriff’s station. He’s going to see what he can find out. If she is what she says, perhaps we can keep her here so she doesn’t get into any trouble with the law. Especially since it looks like she already had a brush with it.”

“Oh, she’s staying here, little brother. Make no mistake about it. Lisa is going to become our woman, our wife, and we will be the last men she ever fucks again,” Storm announced with confidence. “Let me know what Connor finds out. Come back as soon as you can.”

Storm left Trey in the cold yard to do what he needed to do to help them find out who their new woman was. Stomping back into the house, he let the screen door slam behind him.

Chapter Four

In the kitchen, Storm threw a tantrum with any object that got in his way—serving spoons, a trivet, even a pitcher that he was going to make tea in. Once he had calmed himself, he pulled the casserole out of the oven and put it on the tray along with paper plates, silverware, and a loaf of sourdough bread with some butter and carried it to the bedroom.

Upon entering, he found Austin lying on the bed with Lisa cuddled up to him, her head lying on his chest, her hand splayed on his hard abs. His cousin was smoothing her hair that sprawled across the pillows while she lay with her eyes closed though still swollen from crying. When she heard him enter she opened her eyes and watched him move toward the bed and set the tray down. Rising slowly to avoid the dizziness, she rose up to her knees and faced Storm.

“I’m sorry that I made you mad,” she said softly. “I’m not sure what is going on with me, but Austin said you guys were going to help me.”

“We’ll do our best, darlin’,” he promised as he laid his palm on her cheek. When she moved her face into the gesture, he had to take a deep breath and will himself to be gentle. Leaning down, he let his lips cover hers briefly before pulling away. He didn’t want her thinking they wanted her only because of her declaration of who she was.

To occupy himself, he picked up the serving spoon and a paper plate and started to serve up the food that thankfully Martha had had the foresight to cook for them. Buttering a piece of bread and placing it on top of the casserole, he handed it to Lisa, who scooted back up to sit up against the pillows next to Austin, who by that time had sat up. Knowing his cousin could get his own food, but feeling he needed to keep his hands busy, he served him up and then fixed his own plate before going over and sitting in the rocking chair in the corner facing the bed.

The action wasn’t missed by either occupant of the bed. When he looked up he saw Austin glaring at him and Lisa watching him curiously.

“I’m not going to bite, you know,” she teased. A smart-ass retort didn’t pop into his brain quickly enough so with a sigh he went to sit next to her on the bed. He watched her wiggle her ass a bit and settle in between her two rescuers. While they ate, Storm thought it would be a good time to go over some rules with her.

“I know you have questions for us, and there are questions we have for you, but for now, you need to rest and do as you are told. You have a concussion. You are to stay in bed unless one of us is with you. You could pass out or fall down without help. Also, you were shot in the arm and will need to be careful of the wound. You don’t have to be afraid of any of us here, or out on the ranch. We will protect you,” Storm explained patiently, expecting her to argue.

“Also, you are to let us know as soon as you have any more memories surface,” Austin added. “We are trying to figure out who you are and where you came from. Also, someone went to a lot of trouble to get you out here to hurt you, so they most likely are still out there looking for you. You need to stay in the house even after you are well enough to move around. Is that clear?”

He held her attention, looking straight into her iris eyes. At first his words seemed to spook her, but she nodded slowly in understanding. Both men noticed a shiver running through her and wondered what she was thinking about.

Setting their plates on the nightstands, they both moved in closer to comfort her. Austin ran his hand up her back under the sheet of gold that hung from her scalp, stopping at the junction of her neck and shoulder. Storm cupped her chin and moved it around so he could cover her mouth with his. This time, he licked across the seam of her lips, asking for permission to enter, and when she opened to him, he was ecstatic. His tongue slipped through, past her teeth, and slid across hers as a moan sounded in her throat. Breaths became ragged as the desire built within each of them.

Taking her plate from her and placing it on the night stand, Austin kissed the skin of her shoulder where the tee had slipped down and made his way up her neck, nipping along the way. He ended at her ear where he traced the shell of it with his tongue before biting her earlobe, which caused her to jump a bit, but his hand on the back of her neck along with Storm’s hand on her chin kept her grounded.

Storm’s hand moved down from her chin along her neck and then down to splay across her chest, remaining over the cotton material of the tee as his mouth soon followed. Austin moved up onto his knees and moved his mouth around to capture her lips and thrust his tongue into the depths of hers as if he was afraid she would disappear. Their tongues dueled for dominance but he won as he sucked hers into his mouth.

With his hands on each shoulder he turned her toward him while Storm let his hand slip lower to capture a hardened nipple between his thumb and forefinger. Squeezing it caused her to mewl in Austin’s mouth, which led both men to go further. Storm let his mouth cover her breast through the material, and he began to suck upon the hardened pebble, drawing it into his hot, moist mouth as his hand covered her other breast, gently squeezing the round globe. Her back arched, thrusting her chest out to him to use her breasts as he saw fit.

Both men groaned as the air perfumed with her arousal and were spurred on until the fall of boots stopped at the door.

“What the hell is going on here?” Trey exclaimed.

Coming to their senses, Storm and Austin pulled away from the equally shocked Lisa as Trey took in the scene. Her lips were swollen with desire, her neck and chest red from the scratch of his brother’s mustache, while a wet spot on the tee clung to her wet, erect nipple where Storm’s mouth had been. His cock engorged in his jeans, knowing he wanted to be doing what the others had been doing, but he knew at least one of them needed have a clear head and figure out what was going on with their woman.

“Am I the only sane one here? The woman was just attacked and she has a concussion. She’s been shot and God only knows what else she’s been through and you two are in here taking advantage of her? Doc said she needs to rest. Are you trying to hurt her more?” Trey yelled. “I’ve been outside trying to get information on her and you always tell me I’m immature! Jesus, guys! Let her rest and recuperate. After that we can see what happens!”

Sitting back against the pillows Lisa shyly looked at each of them slowly, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to be a distraction to you.”

Trey watched as Storm and Austin sheepishly rose from the bed, guilt written all over their faces. Austin licked his lips as if he could still taste her there before he had to readjust his crotch. The man smiled down at the woman, “No. It wasn’t your fault. We shouldn’t have done that.”

When her face flashed her disappointment he continued.

“Not that we didn’t want to. We do. We shouldn’t have tried anything until you are well enough to move around on your own. Until the Doc gives you a clean bill of health and hopefully you remember who you are.”

Storm nodded his agreement though obviously he had been left high and dry after this little predicament. Trey knew there were going to be two cold showers tonight. Both men picked up their plates and left the room, leaving Trey to watch over the beauty.

He made his way over to the nightstand where he picked up a plate and handed it to her. He noticed her hands shook with nervousness. Picking up one of the beers, he made his way over to the rocker and sat down. Popping the top he lifted the bottle to his lips and let the cold liquid make its way down his throat, which was dry after shouting at his brother and cousin and the way the girl in the bed was watching him.

Leaning down to rest his elbows on his knees he thought that this was the first time he had been nervous in front of the opposite sex. Her iris eyes watched his every move, which was unnerving him. Taking another swig of beer for fortitude, he ran his hand down his face in frustration.

“Sweetie, you need to eat. You need to build your strength back up and then rest.”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to upset you or cause problems with your brothers,” she said as she looked down at her plate. Then she looked up shyly. “Jeez, I don’t even know your names.”

With a look like that, Trey knew there was no way she was a prostitute. She was too innocent-looking for that. It made him happy at that thought. “I’m Trey. My brother is the one with the mustache and he’s Storm. Austin is our cousin.”

“All of you live here?”

“Yes. Storm and I have lived here all our lives. Austin moved in when our parents died to help run the place. He was actually the one who hauled you up the ravine. He said you were really heavy, too.” He smiled mischievously.

“What?” she exclaimed before she realized he was joking. A smile appeared on her face, which Trey was happy to see.

Trey was watching her intently and saw her smile disappear as she began to think to herself. Her teeth worried her lower lip, and he knew what she was thinking after what had happened between herself, Storm, and Austin.

“You are not a prostitute!” he said adamantly. “Something is horribly wrong here and someone has done a number on your head.”
