Emma clung to him as he thrust harder into her. She
blinked rapidly to try to clear her mind. “But...you felt
so...so human,” she stuttered, recalling his gorgeous, muscular
body and his soft blond hair.

I could take human form,” he confirmed.
“The same form as when I was still human. And seeing you and
touching you that night made me want to be human again. I've never
been so hungry before, so hungry for life.”

How did you...” Emma gasped, as he rocked
into her.

I had to go through the fires. The eternal fires
of damnation and death. I had to be tortured, burnt, cleansed,
completely consumed by the flames so as to be redeemed from all the
wrongs I have committed. I got what I deserved. The lashes, the
torment, the pain, I deserved the suffering and I bore it all. It
was the only way I could be released as Death. Dying takes on a
whole different meaning when you're Death.” He gave her a
small sad smile but there was no bitterness in it.

But Damien Blake...this...” Emma looked
down the length of the handsome billionaire's rock solid body. “This
body...”

He nodded. “Damien Blake took his own life. He
took my place, and all my responsibilities and burdens. And I took
his. But it took me some time to remember. When I first opened my
eyes, the only thing I could remember was you. The rest came in
flashes, and I thought they were just waking dreams. When I finally
recalled everything, I didn't want to waste a single second.
Time...I know now that time is so precious. Human life is so, so
short, just a few decades that rush by in a blur. I know without a
doubt that I want to spend the rest of my short, fleeting human life
with you.”

Emma took a while to process his words. “So,”
she began with a slight frown. “If you are Damien Blake,
then—Damien Blake is...Death?”

He is no longer Damien Blake. And I am not...”

Emma silenced him with a kiss. “It doesn't matter
what your name is. I know you. You. The one I've been loving and
missing for the last, short ten years.”

Emma, I love you.”

Their kiss deepened, and Emma felt him push deeper into
her. His body moved hard against her, his cock pounding into her
body as she clenched and pulled him into her. Her nails raked across
his broad back as her climax reared up and slammed through her body.
Damien shuddered violently as his own release came and he gritted out
her name over and over again.

Finally spent, he pulled her into his arms and kissed
the top of her head as he lay beside her.

I love you,” he said hoarsely. “I
love Luc. I love you both so, so much.”

Emma propped herself up on one elbow and smiled at her
husband. “And...we live happily ever after?”

Laughing softly, he caught her hand and kissed it. “I'm
never going to leave you. I will not leave you and Luc ever again.,”
he whispered.

Emma looked into those intense blue eyes and hugged her
husband tightly.

Death had come to her, taken her and left her. And now
he had returned to her. After everything they had gone through, they
were finally together at last. Nothing would tear them apart again,
she promised.

She tilted her head at him. “Your name...”

Would you like me to change it?” He
stroked her back lovingly.

No.” Emma settled back into his arms.
“Damien suits you. And I can't go around calling you Death.
Unless you want me to.” She arched an eyebrow at him, a cheeky
smile tugging at the corner of her mouth.

You can call me anything you want.” Damien
rolled her over and kissed her. He would love and cherish her, his
bride, his love, his life.

And yes my love,” he whispered, “We
live...happily ever after.”
