The oil had almost completely smothered me, when the pump was suddenly turned off and the tank cover was lifted. The mysterious Winter Frey had saved my life, but then she tells me that Vulkan Sligo, the guy who'd just left me to drown, is her guardian. How can I trust her?

Boges and I catch up at the St Johns Street
hideout
. He helps me set up a blog so that I can try and tell my side of the story and clear my name.

Winter won't answer my calls so I decide to sneak back to the car yard to see if I can find her and get more information. I scan the place from hiding and am shocked when a guy sneaking around the yard, searching for parts, turns out to be a girl—Winter!

Desperate for a new break, I find my way back to the house I was held in when I was first abducted. From my position up a tree, I take a quick snapshot of the woman inside—the fiery red-head who I'm sure is the one who
interrogated
me.

At the Central Station basketball courts I spot a guy that looks exactly the same as me! I try to approach him, but he runs away from me like he's seen a ghost.

Boges recognises the red-head in my photo as being the well-known criminal lawyer Oriana de la Force. We have a close call with Rafe when he shows up with another guy in Burger Barn. Their conversation reveals that my uncle is signing his house over to my mum to try and help her cope.

My newest hideout, a stormwater drain, gets flooded after a massive downpour and I almost lose the drawings as I'm thrashed along, caught in the torrent.

A phone call to Eric Blair, one of my Dad's colleagues, provides nothing—he's not in the office. But Winter finally calls, and we go to Memorial Park together to see the angel she'd been talking about.

The moonlight through the cenotaph roof reveals a stained glass image of the Angel—a memorial to Piers Ormond—just as Dad had drawn him.

I'm clawed by a lion after sneaking into the zoo to try and make my meeting with Jennifer Smith. I flee the scene, but am tracked down later by Red Singlet who chases me deep into the subway. After staging a fall on the tracks I jab him with one of my tranquillisers, and then run. The rumbling of an oncoming train forces me to go back and push his unconscious body off the tracks, but I slip awkwardly and find that my foot has become wedged somehow, and I'm now trapped in the train's deadly path …
