“Will you let me spend a lifetime making up for it, Seleste?” he asks, his hands on my face now. He’s looking at me with such softness, such…love? Can that really be true? “Let me prove I’m worthy of you. I’ll do whatever it takes. However long it takes. Just let me be close to you.”

I turn my head in to his hand and kiss the palm. I hear him exhale. I hear him say my name. I feel his lips on my hair.
“Can I take you home, Seleste?” he whispers.
I nod through my tears.
“Can I meet your family?”
I nod again.
“And may I ask their permission to mate you?”
That brings my head up, and my eyes to his. Because that was it. The one thing that took Striker out of his past. Asking me to be his future.
“Yes, you may,” I say through my tears. “My love. My Male. My mate.”
Striker, the hard, gorgeous, kickass Hunter of the Pantera, has tears in his eyes, too. That’s what happens when you let go, when you forgive, when you allow yourself to love.
“Should I get my bag?” I ask him, then break into an enormous grin. “I have the iPad. We can watch ‘Scandal’ on the plane.”
“Best idea ever,” he says, then reaches down for my tank top and pulls it over my head. He tosses it on the chair. “But first…”
I give him a look of mock shock. “The door’s open.”
He leans in and kisses me. “So?”
I smile. “Haven’t you had enough of me, Hunter?”
“Not possible, Healer.” With quick hands, he strips me bare, himself too, then spreads me down on the couch. “Legs around me, Mate. We only have thirty minutes and I intend to use every one of them.”
My entire body flares with heat, and I instantly do as he commands.
“Goddess,” he whispers, poised above me. “I’ve wanted this so badly.”
“Making up?” I ask, staring into his eyes.
“No, my beautiful, Seleste. Making love.”
As he slides inside me, filling me, so deep it steals my breath, his mouth covers mine in the sweetest, gentlest, most loving kiss I’ve ever known.
