“What’s so funny?”

He sighed. “You, trying to be like me. It’s official. The whole world’s gone mad.”

She touched his hair, so lightly he barely felt it. “That’s fine with me.”

“You know what?” He kissed her nose, then her lips. “I don’t really want to go to the movies.”

“No?”

“Nope. In fact, I’m thinking I don’t want to leave this house until Monday morning. Hmm. Maybe Tuesday. Or Wednesday.”

“I can get behind that,” she said.

“Unlike you, I’ll have to call out for snacks. I don’t even have any champagne.”

“I don’t care. I don’t need anything but you.” A few seconds passed. Then her smile dimmed. “Well, you and popcorn. I was looking forward to the popcorn.”

He had to kiss her again. Which wasn’t nearly enough. As he stood, pulling her up with him, he grinned.

“What?” she asked.

“You haven’t been here before. I should give you a tour.”

She put her arm around his waist. “Sounds terrific.”

“I was thinking we’d start with the bedroom.”

“Oh?”

“And tomorrow, we’ll look at the kitchen.”

“Great.”

“But there’s a lot to see in that bedroom.”

She looked up at him with a smile. “I’m all yours.”

He sighed as they headed toward his bedroom. She felt so good against him. “Hey, Gwen?”

“Yeah?”

“You know I love you, right?”

Her head fell against his shoulder. “I was hoping.”

He pulled her around so he could look into her eyes. “Don’t hope. Know. I want you to be with me. Here, at the bar, at whatever parties I can drag you to. I was miserable without you, got it? I don’t ever want to go through that again.”

Her eyes glistened as she moved closer, as she kissed him.

Somehow, they got to the bedroom. But they missed Monday night trivia, Wednesday night softball. Even two Dodger games.

It was perfect.
