“What have you done to me, Trey Lennon?” Kyra ran soft fingers over his jawline. “I expected fireworks but you truly amaze me.”

“You’re no shrinkin’ violet or innocent yourself, babe.” He smiled as she adjusted herself and tried to roll away but he held on tighter.

“Stop it,” she said, “and let me go. There’s gonna be a major wet spot in the bed and I don’t plan on sleeping
there
.”

“Jeez, you women and your damn inconsequential issues. A
wet
spot. Is it really a big deal?”

“Yes!”

“No, babe, it ain’t.”

“Yes, it
is
.”

“No,” Trey replied as he flipped them over, “it isn’t. I would think you’d be more concerned about how we should have used a condom.” Kyra’s face flushed crimson as she covered herself with both hands. “Fuck,” she mumbled. “I completely forgot about that.”

“I haven’t been with anyone since I’ve been back from Belfast and I got myself checked out for other reasons. Is there anything you need to tell me about?”

She shook her head, removing her hands from her face. “Cricket and I used condoms while we were together. Maybe that’s why he dumped me. I’m on birth control if that’s what you’re worried about but…you’re right. We should have been safe, just in case.”

Trey grabbed her wrists and held them down against the bed. “It doesn’t matter now. What’s done is done and if you want me, you got me. I’m not goin’ anywhere. I’m tired of runnin’…tired of denyin’ the inevitable. I’ll face your father and your brother—they can beat my ass as many times as they want, but I want you to be
mine
, Kyra.”

“What does that mean, exactly?” She stared at him, her blue eyes bright and glassy with unshed tears. “Our clubs—yours
and
mine—aren’t talking because of what
Dizzy
did. My dad is going be pissed because, eventually, I’ll have to make a choice. It’s going to be you or the club because I can’t have both. I can’t bring a Saint to barbeques and charity events the club has. Hell, everyone from your club is going to automatically distrust me because I’m the Prez’s daughter for the
wrong
club.”

“Well, I can’t do anything about that.” He let go of her wrists and looked down at her intently. “It’s not like I can date Misty—she’s my half-sister. Not to mention she’s dating a Bastard and I’ve seen him down at the clubhouse.”

“Yeah…about that situation…it’s complicated. Both the clubs know about it and Trista’s ex is another beast entirely. I’m not at liberty to say what’s going on—it’s a legal matter.”

Trey’s hazel-green eyes narrowed suspiciously. “What the fuck does that mean? Is he a goddamn Fed like Naomi?”

Kyra took the opportunity to maneuver her body from underneath his and sat up in the bed. “You know I can’t tell you that so why are you asking? Do you want me to lose my ability to practice law? I can’t do pillow talk with you about my
job
, Trey.”

“And what is this? Just another
perk
your job provides? Unlimited biker dick—take all the fuck you want and discard it when you’re through?” he questioned coldly.

“Fuck you.” She stood and strolled to the bathroom. “I’m taking a shower. Get your shit and get the fuck gone before I come out.”

The door slammed behind her as Trey rolled over on his back and tucked his arms underneath his head.

Fucking women.

Did she really think she could dismiss him like a well-trained puppy and get away with it? That wasn’t how relationships worked and she’d soon find out that’s definitely not how shit worked with him. He might have been a few years younger than her but in no way did that diminish him being a man.

Not even Keri had gotten away with that shit.

He’d be damned if Kyra thought she’d be able to just because she had a law degree, and a hot shit job as one of the best attorneys in their one horse town.

Trey was far from stupid.

Hell, he was a computer genius with an IQ of one fifty-five and had not only been accepted at CalTech but Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Both universities had offered him full-ride scholarships though his parents could have easily paid for his tuition. He often wondered what his life would be like if he’d gone to college instead of deciding to prospect for the Bastards.

His parents and brother wouldn’t be in Witsec.

He wouldn’t have a criminal record.

Everything about him would probably be unrecognizable to the person he was now.

As if he didn’t feel bad enough about all the damage he caused to his family, his mother had now come back into his life. No matter how brief their reunion, she’d still pour salt in his wounds. He didn’t know how he felt about the turn of events but he no longer had the luxury to question much of anything. The club was at a crossroads with
Aztecas Infierno
, their supplier of cocaine, and the cartel started making bold moves into Birch Tree and Pine Bluff.

If they succeeded, it would destroy the towns and cause a flight of all the middle and upper middle-class residents to greener pastures. Revenue would dry up, and eventually they’d end up in the same shape as Black Oak. Broke down, decrepit and with the towns’ lack of prosperity, the clubs would eventually suffer and no longer be relevant at all.

Trey had zero desire to dwell on the situation at the moment. The sooner they completed the run, the better he’d feel about moving on with his life.

Whether Kyra realized it or not, she was part of his new life. He’d shed the past and forget about the demons haunting him. He’d start anew and finally accept he’d never be able to change the life he lived now.

The bathroom door opened abruptly and Kyra walked out completely nude, displaying gorgeous alabaster skin and nothing between her and the slight chill in the room. Her condo wasn’t nearly warm enough for this time of the year, not to mention he didn’t exactly approve of her living alone. That was something he’d have to rectify as soon as he came home from L.A.

“What the hell are you still doing here?” she asked casually, bending over while looking through a drawer connected to a vanity mirror. Since it was positioned directly across from the bed, it gave him a mouthwatering view of her pretty pink pussy. She pulled out a short black negligee and slipped it over her naked body.

“I told ya, babe, shit don’t work like that between us anymore. We aren’t dancin’ around, bitch. I fucked you and now, I’m claimin’ you. If we’re doin’ this, we do it for real. No half measures, no throwin’ me out because you wanna raise hell and don’t feel like talkin’ to me. You feelin’ me, princess?”

Kyra whipped around to face him. “
Princess?
What. The. Fuck. First, you call me a
bitch
, and I’m supposed to be okay with you calling the shots ’cause you got a pretty face and fuckin’ alphatude? You think just because I let you have your way tonight, all the sudden you get to tell me what to do? Uh-uh, that doesn’t work for me and no, I’m
not
feelin’ you!”

“It’s not what you’re gonna
let
me do, it’s what I’m
gonna
do—whether you like it or not.” He stood and strode toward her.

“Um, no, I don’t think so, Trey. No man has
ever
told me what to do except my father, and I’m a grown woman now so not even
he
gets that privilege. I’ve been over twenty-one for a while now - no way am I gonna let some misogynistic biker tell me what I can and
cannot
do.” She folded her arms against her chest.

He glared at her as they played their game of the wills. It would have been funny if he couldn’t see right through her. She was scared to death, and in no position to negotiate anything because she had everything to lose. He could walk away from her and never look back, but staring into her bluer-than-blue eyes, it would break her.

Kyra loved her father and her brother but underneath her tough exterior, she didn’t trust men at all. They’d always let her down and there was absolutely no reason for her to take him at his word unless he proved to her he meant what he said.

Trey couldn’t possibly do that with words but he could do it with actions.

His hands grabbed her forearms and squeezed lightly as they faced off. “I get it,

you’re scared. You think I’m just another prick who’ll turn your world upside down for a few weeks, fuck your brains out, and leave. It’s what men do to you because, deep down inside, you don’t want to let anyone in, and it’s killin’ you—not the fuckin’ men you use.”

“You don’t know anything about me, Trey,” she whispered though her tone softened and her eyes lost most of their hostility.

“I know what I see. And I also know what
you
see. I’m a big bad biker who’s never done nothin’ for no one. I swore allegiance to my brothers and fucked Cillian’s old lady, Brianna. She had my fuckin’ kid and I didn’t know anythin’ about that, not until he told me. He was scared I’d try to take her away from him but why would I when I got no fuckin’ right?”

Kyra blinked several times. “Trey, when did this happen—when did you find out?”

“Does it matter?” He let go of her and reached down to take her hands into his. “I couldn’t do that. I might not be the best person and I know I’ve done some bad shit over the years. Never said I was perfect and I never acted like I was. I loved Keri but that didn’t stop me from fuckin’ club skanks left and right. You ain’t got a reason to trust me but I’ll prove it to you, Kyra. Just give me a chance.”

She slowly began to break down before his eyes as her hands gave his a slight squeeze. “One chance, Trey. Don’t break my heart and
don’t
fucking cheat on me. I know it’s not a simple request; I understand I’m asking the impossible but I
have
to be able to trust you. I’m not Gisela—I wouldn’t be able to forgive you for straying, not even once. I’m stubborn as hell and I know myself…when you break my trust, I can’t go back.”

“Done,” he replied as he leaned closer to her. “I don’t need anyone else when I got you, babe. Don’t want no one else either. You’re it, you’re the one.”

Kyra’s face looked up to him before she kissed him, soft and slow, her tongue working into his mouth with all the seduction and power only a woman could possess and he found himself responding. How could he not when she was so fucking perfect for him? He didn’t give a shit what they would go through to be together. It might not have been written in the motherfucking stars but they would carve their own destiny.

Their lips separated reluctantly as he continued to look into her eyes. “I have a few ground rules of my own, sweet stuff. Don’t fuckin’ lie to me and don’t you ever keep anythin’ from me I need to know, you got that? I couldn’t give a fuck if it’s attorney-client privilege…if somethin’ happens and I shoulda known about it, I want you to tell me, is that clear?”

A small smile played on her soft pink lips. “Fine…if I tell you then you have to keep it
very
close to the vest. I could lose my livelihood and, yeah, I know you could take care of me but that’s not the point. I don’t want you to have to.”

“Understood.” He looked around her adequate bedroom…for a woman who lived alone. “One other thing. Cillian wants me to look at this place in his gated community—Serenity Village or some shit. Anyway, there’s a house on the market, and he wants me to buy it—you know, get outta my parents’ old house in Pine Bluff. Can you…”

“Handle the purchase? Of course. I’ll oversee the paperwork and make sure everything is filled out according to specifications.”

Trey kissed her lips again. “Nah, that’s not what I meant. I want you to take care of all that shit but then I want you to move your ass in there with me. You can keep this place but I don’t want us livin’ separate lives. I want to wake up with you and go to bed with you, you feel me?”

Kyra stared intently at him with bright blue eyes. “Not yet… but I’m beginning to.”

Chapter Six

Kyra

T
here were times when I loved everything about Trey, and other times where I could have kicked him in the balls. I felt all of this and more, and we hadn’t been together for a full day yet.

We’d gone from reluctant friends to full on lovers within the space of hours. And, like most bikers, he either wanted all or nothing. There would be no half measures with him. He wanted me to claim and own. It didn’t matter I’d been with my fair share of men and I wasn’t virtuous or a doormat.

Trey seemed to like his women tough. The better we gave, the more we seemed to get from him.

After our minor little spat, he laid me back in bed and made love to me like I’d never been serviced in my life. The pleasure was worth every minute I walked around later on in the office, my thighs and sex feeling bruised and battered but completely sated. I hadn’t been worked over by a man like that ever in my life and it was a feeling I could become used to really quickly.

I sat at my desk in my office, completely satisfied and over the moon as Gisela walked in and sat across from me.

Although still active, her bump was getting bigger with each passing day. She still looked gorgeous with her olive toned complexion, bright amber eyes, perfect Germanic bone structure and slim body, with the exception of her belly. She smiled while staring at me intently.

“What’s going on with you? Something’s changed.”

I grinned like a teenager. “Trey and I finally got together and it’s better than I could have ever imagined.”

She nodded her head slowly, in that quiet, Teutonic contemplation mode she’d inherited from her mother. “As long as you’re happy, that’s what matters. You know how the Saints are and it’s not going to be a walk in the park, but Trey’s promised to become Vice President once Cillian takes over for Dizzy. It won’t be too much longer. The man can’t handle the stress—not with his heart.”

I sipped from a strong cup of French roast. “I don’t understand what’s going on with me at all, sweetie. You know me—I’ve wanted this for as long as I can remember, but he’s younger than me and so damn strong willed. We’re goin’ to fight a lot.”

My best friend shrugged nonchalantly. “It’s what people in love
do
. Relationships take a lot of time, and a fuck load of effort, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. I could never imagine Cillian not being in my life anymore. I fought for as long as I could but there comes a time when you can’t do it. You
have
to think about what’s best for you.”

“Can I confess something to you and will you promise not to think I’m the world’s biggest idiot?” I questioned in a soft voice.

Gisela laughed. “Honey, you can tell me whatever is on your mind and I would
never
judge you. Not like I have a right to, anyway. I slept with a
married
man for God’s sake. Cillian and I—when we got together, we had some tough times. He cheated on me by sleeping with his half-brother’s pregnant wife just to get back at him for fucking Brianna ages ago. I’m not perfect by any stretch of the imagination and I wouldn’t ever think any less of you. You’re my best friend for Christ’s sake.”

I smiled ingratiatingly. “Yeah, I know but…I’ve wanted this for so long, I don’t know what to do now that I finally have the man of my dreams. Trey can’t be controlled and, truth be told, I don’t want him to let me have that kind of power. I don’t know what’s wrong with me but I couldn’t handle it if he were to just…send me on my way. I wouldn’t be able to stand it if he broke my heart.”

“He won’t – he’s not that kind of person. My God, Kyra, he loves you. He’s been in love with you for so damn long, he had to have a porn star in his bed just to forget about you. He was willing to let you go because he didn’t think he could put you through that. I honestly don’t believe you have anything to fear—”

My phone rang and I held up my hand as I answered it. “Yes?”

“Ms. Eve Kerrigan is on the line for you,” the receptionist informed curtly.

I turned toward Gisela. “Business call.”

She stood from her seat. “You know where to find me. Don’t worry so much and, for once, put yourself out there. You can’t risk love if you’re not willing to give every part of yourself. Remember that.”

I nodded, and watched as she left my office. “Put her through.”

The line clicked and a husky, feminine voice inquired, “Have you found what I’ve been looking for?”

I picked up my pen and twirled it in my fingers. “As a matter of fact, I have, Ms. Kerrigan. The person in question is anxious to talk to you but it has to be in L.A. That is where business will be taking him for the next couple days or so.”

“That’s not a problem. I will have to speak to my superiors, secure a location, and I’ll call you back when the details are handled,” she replied quickly and efficiently. “There are…some complications.” I sighed softly and continued, “Business is turbulent right now where his connections are concerned. There might be collateral damage and I hope no one from his side is part of it, but I thought you’d want to know.”

“Well, thank you for informing me but when I speak to him, that will be discussed along with other more pressing issues. I’m not exactly happy with the way certain people in his organization are conducting business. Neither are my superiors and they’re closing in. They have their eye on a certain business partner and if my son and his associates continue to fraternize with such people, I cannot stop the blowback.”

My heart began to beat faster in my chest. “What exactly does that mean, Ms. Kerrigan?”

She laughed, the sound brittle and abrasive. “You’re an intelligent young woman, Miss Hughes. I hope you’d be able to figure it out.”

“Okay…what do I tell the party involved in the meantime?”

“Tell him the meet has been arranged. I need our mutual party to be ready the day after tomorrow. No exceptions. Please let him know that. I’ll be in touch just to make sure everything has been handled accordingly.”

I nodded though I knew she couldn’t see me. “I will make sure it’s done.”

“Thank you, Ms. Hughes.” She paused before she said, “By the way, you’re requested at the meeting too. Please make arrangements to be there and, if possible, stay somewhere on the Westside, preferably Santa Monica or the Brentwood area. Everything that is said between our mutual acquaintance and I will need another set of ears besides the ones who are watching my every move. For collateral purposes, you understand?”

“Yes, of course.”

“Goodbye, Ms. Hughes.”

The phone went dead and I hung up the receiver before unconsciously wrapping a hand around my throat and breathing deeply.

I wouldn’t dare allow Trey to walk into any situation without knowing what was happening. It wouldn’t be wise to call him, especially if the Feds bugged my phone, and, at this point, I had no reason to believe it wasn’t.

I stood and raced to Gisela’s office, not bothering to knock. She sat at her desk, her MacBook Pro open. My fingers went to my lips as I beckoned her closer to me.

She knew the drill, better than I did. She had a digital clock radio with an iPod dock. “Say Something” played softly but she turned it up while I closed her door. My best friend stood and walked over to me.

“What’s going on?” she whispered into my ear.

“It’s the Feds. I don’t know if this has anything to do with Clooney or if it’s something bigger. They’ve bugged our phones and our offices. We have to speak to the guys before they leave for L.A. Something’s going down and…I can’t tell them everything but I can warn them.”

Gisela nodded her head. “We leave now. I’ll drive us to the clubhouse. When we get there, we’ll talk to Cillian and Trey in private. They can tell everyone else what’s going on.”

“How about I follow you? Depending upon how long this takes to sort out, I might go home afterwards.”

“Okay but remember, keep up!”

She walked to her desk, turned down the music, grabbed her keys and, moments later, we’d left the law office in our respective vehicles, heading from Lake Tahoe to Birch Tree.

“G
oddamn it! How the fuck did the Feds find out?” Cillian shouted before banging his fists against the oak table we all sat around, in the same room they used for chapel.

“Where’s Dizzy?” Gisela asked in a calm voice.

“Not here.” He glared at her before his crystal blue eyes settled on me. “He had a meeting with the big wigs—Raymond Jackson, Angelo Abandonato, and Jonesy Hughes. None of them want the cartel moving in here so they’re gonna handle that issue. What I want to know is how the two of you were tipped off at all?”

“It’s attorney-client privilege,” I replied. “All I can tell you is the Feds are aware of the meeting because they’re watching the cartel. If they decide to move in, everyone goes down, and they can start to investigate the clubs using RICO. The only piece of the puzzle they need is to catch you conducting business with
Aztecas Infierno
.”

Trey remained silent the whole time, his eyes occasionally softening toward me but he had nothing to be nervous about. I’d never drag him into this mess, or give his new club a reason not to trust him.

“Can we move the meeting ahead of schedule?” Trey asked his VP.

Cillian shook his head. “Those fookers are goin’ down. I don’t wanna be anywhere
near
the fallout.”

Gisela walked closer and gripped his shoulders with strong hands. “What are you going to do? Your dad wanted this last shipment—”

“I’ll handle my Da. In the meantime, as soon as we get down there, we speak to Hardy and Ronan. It might be a good time to leave the coke market once and for all. The Koslakov family has two major connections we can
use
—it’s time to discuss other options. Runnin’
Aztecas Infierno’s
product has become hazardous to our health.”

I stared at my best friend though she turned Cillian around to face her. “Dizzy won’t go for it and you know it. Heroin is too high profile and the kind of women you want to import will cost more than drugs ever did! You’ll destroy the club, babe.”
