“Hello,” Alec mumbled into the receiver. “Excellent.” He leaned forward and pressed a soft kiss to
Tara
’s shoulder. “We’ll be there soon.” He hung up the phone and carefully extracted his cock from her ass.

She could feel John’s tension and looked at him questioningly, but he was looking at Alec. “Yes?” he asked.

“Yes,” Alec said happily. “Come on. Let’s get cleaned up so we can see for ourselves.”

“What?”
Tara
asked, annoyance at their cryptic attitude stealing her after-sex lethargy. “What’s this all about?”

“Beiltar has managed to successfully calibrate the portable field dampeners and signal generators,” Alec said as he lifted her into his arms. “You and Jade should be safe now. Even face-to-face, the scanners won’t detect you. We might even be able to give you back your old life.”

She shivered convulsively, unable to consider going back to that lonely existence. Alec hugged her tighter as he laughed quietly. “Should I take that as a sign that you don’t want to go back to your old job?”

“Yes,” she said, still shivering slightly. “I want to stay with you and John no matter where that leads me.”

“No regrets?” John asked.

“None,” she said happily, knowing it was true. She loved them both. Alien, human, it didn’t matter. They loved her, she loved them, and they loved each other. Nothing on earth—or in the universe—would change that. Her world couldn’t be more perfect.

Well maybe one tiny, little exception…a baby or two or three…and now that she would be hidden from the collectors’ scans, she planned on working on that
exception
as soon as possible.
