Thor sat back on his heels, pulling her with him. Straddled across his lap, she took him fully, her arms around his neck, their faces at an equal level. He kissed her, soft plump lips that opened and let him in. She began to grind on him and he put his hands on her behind, helping her move.

Penny moaned against his mouth and her arms tightened around him. They moved together in a perfect motion, each thrust bringing them closer to the edge. He felt her start to go over and that did it for him. Her walls clenched around him, euphoric cries in his ear, as he met his own release.

They fell to the bed, heads on the wrong end, but they didn’t care. And that’s how they drifted off to sleep.

CHAPTER
Thirty-Six

P
enny woke
that Saturday morning feeling more optimistic than she ever had in her life. Her world was perfect and she looked forward to the future, and every minute she’d spend with Theo.

She spun in his arms, the massive weight of them on her body telling her he was still far away in dreamland. She looked at his face, so beautiful. She wanted to kiss him and touch him. She could stare at him for hours.

Her phone started to ring. It was somewhere in the room. She needed to silence it before it woke Theo, so she quickly slipped out from under his arm. Completely naked, she followed the sound and yanked it from her little purse. Her finger hovered over the ignore button, but before she pressed it noticed the caller ID. Bryn.

“Is everything all right?” she asked without a hello. “Is Eli okay?”

“He’s fine.” Bryn’s giggle immediately calmed Penny’s erratic heartbeat. “They’re releasing him today, actually.”

“That’s so awesome.” Penny grabbed her robe and closed the bedroom door behind her, hoping she hadn’t already woken Theo. “I’m so glad he’s going to be okay.”

“Me, too. But there’s something that’s not okay right now.”

A spike of dread shot through Penny’s chest. “What’s wrong?”

“The way Mia and I have been treating you has not been okay. And we need to fix it immediately.”

Had Penny seriously just heard what she thought she had?

“I know we may not deserve it,” Bryn continued. “But we want a second chance. We want to try and make it up to you. Can you come down to the shop this morning? I need to be at the hospital by one, so we’re hoping you can get here by ten or eleven.”

“Ah . . . um . . . ” Penny stumbled over her words, complete shock clouding her brain. “Yes. I can be there.”

“Oh, good.” Bryn sighed in relief. “We’ll see you soon.”

And then she was gone. Penny was left standing there, naked, her robe still clenched in her fist, staring at her phone.

“What was that about?” Theo asked, his warm body pressing against her back.

“I don’t know. But I think it was good.”

She showered and got dressed, her hands shaking as she tried to apply her makeup. She was so freaking nervous.

“Are you sure you don’t want me to come with you?” Theo asked, a kiss to her shoulder.

“I’m sure. Whatever’s going on, I think I need to do it myself.”

“Then I’ll stay here and keep the bed warm.” He squeezed her ass.

The walk to Classy ’n’ Sassy wasn’t far and her heart beat faster with each block. They wanted to make it up to her. What did that even mean? She pulled on the handle to the front door. Since she was no longer an employee, she didn’t feel right using the back door. The shop seemed empty. Its usual soundtrack played quietly in the background, but there were no customers. She found Bryn at the front counter.

“Hi! I’m so glad you came,” Bryn said then turned and yelled, “Mia! She’s here.” Bryn took Penny by the hand and yanked her down the hall to the break room and its oval table, some paperwork sitting on it among various bras, panties, and a random dildo. She grabbed a chair and turned it around. “Sit.”

Mia joined them and the two of them stood in front of Penny.

“First of all,” Bryn started. “We need to apologize for our behavior over the last few months. We treated you very poorly and unfairly.”

Was this actually happening? This was not what Penny was expecting at all.

Mia spoke next. “I know I’m mostly to blame. I got carried away and I made some bad decisions when it came to the shop and your position here.”

Mia? Admitting she was wrong? Was Penny still at home in bed sleeping? Surely this was a dream.

“We value you so much,” Bryn said as her eyes turned glossy. “So much more than we showed you. And I’m so, so sorry for that.”

“I’m sorry, too,” Mia added.

Penny didn’t know what to say. And even if she did, she physically could not form words.

“We love you,” Bryn said. “And I’m so grateful that you were there for me the other night. I miss what we had and I need you back in my life.”

“I do, too,” Penny said, finally able to say something, even though it came out pretty squeaky, and she was unable to control her own tears any longer.

“We’d like to put it all in the past and move on. If you’ll let us,” Mia said. “We want our trio back.”

Penny nodded. “I want that, too.”

“So, you forgive us?” Bryn asked.

“Of course.”

Penny stood as the other two stepped toward her, the three of them locking in a tight embrace filled with tears and laughter.

“So does this mean I can have my job back?” Penny asked.

Mia smiled, a devious one she rarely showed. Her gaze switched to Bryn, some kind of mental telepathy between them.

“What’s going on?” Penny asked.

Bryn and Mia pulled back from the hug. “Sit back down,” Bryn said.

“You guys are scaring me.” Penny laughed. “Can I come back or not?”

“Yes, but we’re really hoping you’ll sign this first.” Mia handed her a very official-looking document that had been sitting on the table.

Penny took it and flipped through. The legal mumbo jumbo made her head spin. Did they need her to sign something saying she would be a good employee and never talk back again? That she would never throw paint at her bosses again? The dread was back in her chest.

She looked up at their smiling faces. “I don’t know what any of this means.”

“It means . . . ” Mia turned to Bryn, then both of them looked at her again, continuing in unison, “We want you to be our partner!”

“What?”

Bryn spoke first. “You’ve been such an important member of the Classy ’n’ Sassy team. You’re part of the reason it is what it is today.”

“So it’s only right that you share in the glory of its success. Officially,” Mia said. “It’s an even split between the three of us. If you say yes.”

Penny couldn’t believe this was happening. How had all her dreams come true? She had her guy back, her friends, too. And now part ownership of the business she loved. All she had to do was sign on the dotted line.

“I can’t take the suspense.” Bryn jumped up and down, her hands clasped together at her chest. “What’s your answer?”

“Calm down,” Mia said. “She might want time to think about it. You can’t expect her to answer right here and now.”

Bryn stopped jumping. “Oh. Yeah. You’re right.” She looked at Penny. “Take all the time you need.”

“I don’t need any time to think.” The words came out calm, even. “It’s a yes.”

“Yes?” Bryn asked.

“Yes!” Penny screamed and jumped up. They pulled into another hug, all of them bouncing around in a circle.

“But wait,” Penny said and stopped moving. “Chanel is not going to be happy I’m her boss.”

“We don’t care what Chanel thinks anymore, right Mia?” A sly smile spread across her face.

“Nope.” Mia met Penny’s gaze. “We fired her.”

“No way.”

“We already have a fabulous marketing guru.”

“Really?” Penny felt as if her heart might seriously burst open.

“Yep. And besides,” Bryn continued. “You can’t be a Classy ’n’ Sassy employee if you’re making some very unclassy posts on our social media pages, no matter how sassy you claim they are.”

“What?”

“We’ll fill you in later,” Mia said. “Maybe one day soon we can get together for drinks at The Red Brick.”

“For sure,” Penny said. “I hear the bouncer there is super hot. Think I should go for it?”

“Definitely.”

Penny sure as hell had gone for it. She’d taken her messed-up marriage, her boring life, and left them behind. She’d ventured out on her own—which was hard as hell—and found everything she’d ever wanted. Things she never knew she wanted. Her life was miles from where it had been, but it was where she belonged. She was classy and sassy and ready to live every moment of her new life to its fullest. A life full of the most important things: great friends, true love, and multiple orgasms.

Epilogue

P
enny donned
her sexy clown costume, complete with overflowing boobage, polka-dotted skirt, and striped thigh highs. Which she’d ripped and splattered with blood. She stepped into the Classy ’n’ Sassy bathroom to double-check her makeup. Oozing gash on her cheek? Check. Darkened eyes? Check. Fake blood dripping down her chin? Check again. She had perfectly zombified her slutty costume and was ready for the Classy ’n’ Sassy Halloween bash to begin.

She met Mia and Bryn, who were making sure everything was ready to go in the shop, both sporting sexy zombie costumes of their own. They’d revisited some of Penny’s earlier suggestions for the party and decided they were totally fun and playful and exactly what the customers would like. Bryn made sure the dildo ring toss was ready to go, while Mia stocked a plastic bin. Instead of bobbing for apples, it was bobbing for lube. Mini tubes of all flavors floated in the water, just waiting to be plucked out.

“How do I look?” Logan, their dildo model and store spokesman, asked as he entered the shop. Bryn had picked his costume for the party—a sexy cowboy. They’d nixed the idea of him being scary sexy like the girls. They figured they’d sell more products if he was just plain sexy.

“Perfect,” Bryn said. “Now go show Kyle where to stand and what to do.”

In addition to reinstating Logan’s meet and greet, they’d started the hunt for a second man of Classy ’n’ Sassy and were trying one out. They figured they’d see how he did with the ladies—and men—before molding his penis for production, but Mia was sure he’d be a natural.

“I think we’re ready to open the doors,” Bryn said. “There’s already a line down the block.”

Penny had always been excited for Classy ’n’ Sassy events, but this one was different. This time she was part owner, and that was pretty damn cool. Who else has the privilege of saying they run a fabulous business with their two best friends?

Guests rushed in and the music pumped. Penny spent the next hour handing out treats and ringing up customers, and she couldn’t have been happier.

“You look like you might eat me, but I’m so fucking turned on right now.”

Penny spun around, the man of her dreams standing behind her. Logan and Kyle had nothing on Theo. “Yeah? I can wear it home tonight.”

“You’d better.” His eyebrows rose. “And leave the makeup on.”

“I never would’ve guessed you had a zombie fantasy.”

Every day with Theo was like a fantasy for her. They were quickly building a life together, full of things she’d only read about in romance novels and saw her friends experience. Real love. Silly love. Messy love. It grew every minute and she couldn’t wait to see how their future would take form.

“How was golf with my dad this morning?” She hadn’t seen Theo all day, needing to be at the shop for party prep, but she’d encouraged him to take advantage of the fall warm spell.

“Good. I made sure I missed a few putts.”

“Why?” She laughed. “He’d be livid if he knew you let him win.”

Theo shrugged. “I want him to like me. He needs to be in a good mood in order for that to happen.”

And just when she didn’t think she could love him any more, she did.

“Hey! There’s my favorite ex-bouncer and ex-waitress.”

Penny turned away from Theo to greet their friends. Even though it had been fun, they’d decided to step back from The Red Brick as employees. Theo was done with the late nights, preferring to spend that time with Penny instead. Usually in bed. But they remained close with Seth and Shelly.

“So what’s good in here?” Seth asked, picking up a rubber vibrating Logan dildo. He wiggled it in Shelly’s face. “You want something like this?”

She giggled as she grabbed it and set it back on the counter. “No, I was thinking something like a cock ring.”

“We have plenty of those,” Penny said. “What kind do you want? A vibrating one, studded?”

“I can’t handle this conversation,” Theo said, stepping away. “I don’t want to know what kind of cock ring my best friend has. I’m going to get some food.” He kissed the spot next to Penny’s cheek gash and walked away.

The party dwindled down after two hours and the last customer left with a huge bag of purchases. While Mia flipped off the hot pink neon
Open
sign and locked the front door, Bryn emptied the remaining contents of a bottle of wine into a glass.

She handed it to Penny. “Drink this so it doesn’t go to waste.”

“I don’t know. My stomach feels funky.” Penny rubbed her hand across it.

“You must’ve eaten too much candy.” Mia was the first to offer a logical response.

“I didn’t eat any. The nausea’s been on and off all day. Actually, it’s been that way for like a week. But wine fixes everything, right?”

Penny lifted the glass to her lips but Bryn grabbed it before she could sip. “Not so fast.”

“Why? I’m thirsty.”

“I think you should do something first.” She grabbed her purse and Penny’s hand and dragged her to the bathroom, Mia following behind. Bryn rummaged through her duffel-sized bag and handed over a small box. “Do this. Now.”

Penny turned over the box, already knowing what it was. She’d bought them by the gross when she and Jack had been trying to get pregnant. “It’s not possible. I’m not going to waste it.” She extended her hand toward Bryn. “And why do you even have one anyway?”

Bryn shook her head. “Don’t worry about that now. Just take the damn test!”

“Fine.” Penny ripped it open and yanked her panties down, then sat on the toilet. She could do these things blindfolded. Take the test, prove Bryn wrong, and get on with their night. She peed, put the cap on, and tossed it on the counter. “There. Happy now?”

“We’ll see!” Bryn beamed as she set the timer on her cell phone.

Penny reached for the doorknob. “Call me when you see the negative sign. I’ll be out there cleaning up.”

“No way. You’re staying here.”

This was dumb. Penny couldn’t be pregnant. She’d accepted that it just wouldn’t happen for her. She and Theo had already discussed it. They’d just adopt more dogs. Or a kid someday, if it felt right.

“Wow,” Mia said.

Penny looked at her. “What?”

“It’s already showing a result.”

Bryn grabbed it, then turned it to show Penny.

“That can’t be right.” She shook her head. “Throw it away.”

“When are you due for your period?” Mia asked.

Penny crossed her arms over her chest. That damn costume was so freaking tight her boobs popped out even more. “I don’t know. Last week? Maybe the week before? But we’ve been busy here, and the whole stress thing.”

Bryn smiled. “And the nausea thing, and the giant boobs. You’re pregnant, girlfriend!”

Penny opened her mouth to protest again, but the evidence was all there. “I’m going to be a mom?” she asked.

“Yes!” Bryn said, tears trickling down her face, ruining her zombie makeup.

The girls pulled Penny in tight. “I’m going to be a mom!” Happy sobs shook her body and they hugged and jumped around the tiny bathroom.

“So what do you think about having a preggo friend right along with you?” Bryn asked.

Mia was the first to pull back. “What?” she asked, then slapped her hand over her mouth.

“I’m pregnant, too!”

This was incredible. Tears streamed down Penny’s cheeks. Could it be pregnancy hormones already?

“I’m so happy for both of you,” Mia said.

“Really? You don’t think it’s crazy or moving too fast?”

“Life’s too short to be careful all the time.”

Bryn and Penny looked at her, brows furrowed. “Who are you and what have you done with our Mia?” Bryn asked.

“It’s me. I just have friends who made me see that I was being stupid and judgmental and they put me in my place.” She shrugged and continued. “Besides, I can’t be all judgey if I’m about to hop on a plane in a few days and get married in Hawaii.”

Now it was Bryn’s and Penny’s turn for wide eyes and hands slapped over their mouths.

“And it was my idea. I took a page from your books. I have very smart friends.”

Penny agreed. She had the best friends a girl could ask for. And couldn’t wait to spend her life laughing, crying, and loving them.
