The

mission concludes with Part 4, coming August 8. Here’s an exclusive sneak peek:

“I want that life, Sam. I want it with you.”

“Yes, but do you want it because it’ll hurt Trace? Or do you want it because you love me?”

“Because—”Annie froze, realizing she’d didn’t know the answer to that question. She
did
want to hurt Trace. He’d devastated her. Truth was, she had strong feelings for both Sam and Trace. In different ways that she couldn’t sort out.

“Yeah,” he said with a nod that made her aware she hadn’t answered. “You have some things to work out. Because if ‘us’ is just about hurting him, what happens when your anger wears off?”

~

He hunted you down in Paris and threatened to kill you to get you out of the way. I wouldn’t put it past The Turk to do that now, if something we’re doing interferes with his mission.”

Téya nodded. Then nodded some more, as if sorting the facts and storing them. Finally, the consternation washed off her face and she straightened. “I want to go to Bleak Pond—no, I
need
to go.”

“Té—”

“I need to warn them, Trace. To warn David. I won’t go see my grandmother. She was too shaken when we rescued her,” Téya explained. “But I need to talk to David. I need him to be aware of the danger.”

Cuffs tight against his wrists, he was hauled out of the room. As he passed Francesca, Trace broke free. Shoved his face in hers. “Remember, those names—they’re lives you’re playing with. More innocent people will die because of your vendetta against me. Can you live with that, Francesca?”

Annie pitched forward, right into Téya as Nuala’s words seared the air. A scream closely followed. Then a splash. Glass nearby exploded. Frenzied shouts and running tourists created upheaval in the setting that had only moments before been the epitome of calm.

“Nuala!” Annie shouted, diving behind a trash can with Téya. They scanned the waters, waiting for the girl to surface.

“Was she shot?” Téya asked.

“I don’t know. She just went in.” Annie’s voice carried the same panic that thumped in Téya’s chest.
