“You know what, just forget it. I was stupid to even ask. I have to go. I’m glad you got the car open, was happy I could help. See you at the coffee house tomorrow?” Bulldog said.

“Now you just wait one minute! You can't just ask a person out on a date and then get all embarrassed and walk off without even hearing their answer. I know you're a biker but there is no need to be rude,” Steve said with a wink.

“Uhhh, I'm a biker. Rude is kind of what I do.”

“I'm not done talking, you didn’t let me finish. I would love to go out on a date with you. I just wasn't sure that was what was going on, you know, with you being….well, what you are and this town being what it is, I wasn't sure that you were asking me another man to go out but if that was the case then yes, I would love to. Hell, I have been fighting the urge to ask you out since the first minute I realized we…were alike,” Steve said. The sudden burst of assertiveness over the situation actually put Bulldog at ease.

“Okay then, if that’s how you feel. Then yes, I would love to go out on a date with you and I have gotten to the point that I don't give a damn what the people of this Podunk town think about me or my lifestyle. I am sick and tired of being what everyone else wants me to be. So yes, Steve, I am asking you to go out with me tomorrow night for dinner and who the hell knows what else! We might actually go out for a movie too and see how scandalous we can get in the eyes of this back water shit hole of a town!” Bulldog said with a grin.

“Good! Then I accept. And you can pick me up at my house at 7! 1245 Hunser Road.”

“Okay, I'll be there!” Bulldog said as he walked off and got onto his bike and rode away. Steve suddenly realized that was without a doubt the weirdest asking for date that probably had ever occurred and then started to laugh. He got into this car and started to pull out of the parking space when he realized he had still not gotten into the pharmacy to pick up his order. He laughed out loud again and got out of the car, this time making sure he had his keys in his hand.

Bulldog pulled his Harley to a stop in front of Steve's house promptly at five minutes before seven.
He didn't want to appear to be too early but at the same time he didn't want to waste a single minute that he had the chance to spend with Steve. He got off his bike and walked to the front door. After ringing the bell, he felt like a kid waiting for Christmas as he waited for Steve to answer the door. It took a couple of minutes and at first Bulldog started to wonder if he was being cast off. Suddenly the door opened and Steve was standing there in a pressed white shirt, with the collar open, and a pair of khakis. He looked even better than he did normally at work, even though he was dressed almost the same as he would have been at the coffee house. Bulldog was dressed in a hunter green microfiber shirt with a beige tie with small diamonds on it and a pair of brown khakis with hiking boots and black socks underneath. He had even put on a sexier pair of underwear and a white crew neck t-shirt. He felt like a history professor. Truth be told, he felt more like a dork.

“Wow, you look….great!” Bulldog said as he looked at his companion for the evening.

“And you look very different. I like it. You clean up nice, big man.” Steve said.

“Thanks, I feel weird. It's been a long time since I had clothes like these on. Anyway. Shall we get going?” Bulldog said.

“I think we should.” Steve responded. “Oh, by the way, I have a question, kind of personal, I hope you don't mind.” Steve asked.

“Shoot.”

“Well, just for tonight, considering that we are out on a nice date and we are both dressed the way we are, I was wondering if it was okay if I asked your real name? You don't have to tell me if you…”

“Lucas.” Bulldog said. For some strange reason he felt 100% comfortable telling that to Steve, but he could not explain why.

“Lucas, huh? Wow, really, that's kind of cool. I never met a biker named Lucas before.” Steve replied

“Well then, Steve, shall we head out? I have reservations at Café Roma for 8 and it's a bit of a drive to McKinley.

“I would be honored, Lucas. I assume we’re taking my car?” He said.

“Yeah, might be best. Unless you wanted to take the bike,” Bulldog replied.

“Whatever's best for you. But if we take my car, I have to stop and get gas. Café Roma. I have heard good things about that place,” Steve said as they walked down the walk to the driveway and got into the car.

The night started well but ended up with them having taco salads at the Taco Shack on Route 7.
The trouble began when the waiter started to make fun of Bulldog for the way that he ordered the food and then for the selection of wine. Things then broke down even further with the manager eventually getting involved with the argument between the waiter and Bulldog. The biker got up and stormed out of the place without even paying the bill for the appetizers or the wine. After they ate at the Mexican cantina, they made their way back to Steve's house. Bulldog felt like a total failure, having not even been able to pull off being normal for one night out on the town with a great guy that he was crazy about.

“Well, this was a total disaster. I'm sorry that things went so bad. I should have known that this was a bad idea,” Bulldog said.

“Hey! Hey you. NO! That's not your fault. Those people, they were just assholes. If they were not able to see the good guy in front of them then that is their fault. I don't care what others think, I am happy that you asked me out,” Steve responded.

“Yeah, but it was so embarrassing for you to be in the middle of that,” Bulldog said.

“Truth is, it didn't bother me one bit. But…if it's an issue for you then next time we will just have to have our date here and I will have to break down and fix a nice home cooked meal for you. I imagine it's been a while since you have had one,” Steve said.

“I understand you don't want…wait, next time. You mean you want to see me again? Like this? I mean, like not just buddies at the coffee house?” Bulldog asked.

“Yes, Lucas Williams…” he made it a point to call him by his real name and not his biker name. The sound of it in Bulldog’s ears was both foreign and somehow comforting at the same time. “I want to see you again. I like you. I want to get to know you and see, well I guess see where things go. If you are willing to deal with the drama from your club brothers then I can deal with the ridicule of this close-minded town. I have a feeling that you're worth it,” Steve said as he leaned forward and kissed Bulldog lightly on the lips before stepping back and smiling as he opened the door.

“Uhhhh…Goodnight,” Bulldog said as he smiled back.

“Goodnight,” Steve replied and walked into the house closing the door behind him.

One thing that Steve said was true: there would be drama with the pack over this. So much drama, in fact, that Bulldog wasn’t sure if he was fully prepared for it. But then again, he thought, that might not be a bad thing. “Things need to be shaken up a bit every now and then,” he said as he stepped off the porch and walked to his bike. He felt like a long ride right then, with just him, the road and the moonlight. Things were going to be changing, and he hoped he was ready for it.
