“Okay, your father is Senator Sinclair and your mother is Judge Judy Sinclair. Please tell me what that has to do with you taking care of yourself. No matter their professions, I’m sure they love you very much.”

“They love their power,” Elise said, wrapping her arms around herself. “I’m the rebellious daughter who decided to forgo medical school to become a writer. And the funny thing is, they have no idea what I truly write. If they did, they would say I chose the erotic genre just to get their attention and ruin their lives.”

“I don’t believe that for a second,” Dakota exclaimed, walking over to where she stood. He rubbed his hands up and down her arms. “I’m sure they love you very much.”

“Dakota, my father is thinking of running for President of the United States. How do you think it will sound on the news when they discover that his only daughter is an author of the ménage lifestyle? Yes, I write under a pen name, but I have to tell them soon, before it hits the media. I was just waiting on his decision, hoping I wouldn’t have to say anything. And to answer your previous question, my parents are too caught up in their own lives to help me with mine. I’ve always taken care of myself, and having friends doesn’t change that. Sure, they are there if I need to talk out my problems. But as far as taking responsibility for my life, I’m the only one I trust.”

Elise shook his hands off and started toward the bathroom. Dakota was finally starting to see a clearer picture. Needing to know one more thing, he took a couple steps and grabbed ahold of her upper arm. Turning her so that she was facing him, he asked, “Do they love each other?”

Elise gave him a sad smile and shook her head. “If they don’t have time for me, do you really think they have time for one another? They have a marriage of convenience, to help each other reach the height of their careers. And growing up in the circles that I grew up in—trust me when I tell you that I have not witnessed a marriage based on love. And do you know why? Because it doesn’t exist. People use other people for their own gain. It’s as simple as that, Dakota.”

Shrugging off his hold, Elise disappeared into the bathroom. Dakota ran his hand through his hair in frustration. How were they ever going to convince her to give them a chance if she didn’t believe that any relationship could work? Getting her to stay in town, protecting her from whatever threat was out there, was their number one priority. But Dakota knew they had to use their time wisely and get her to see that true love did exist, and he knew just who to contact.

Chapter Five

“What do you mean, I should stay here and let them protect me?”

Having borrowed Chad’s cell phone, Elise had listened to Shea for the last fifteen minutes. She explained how her stalker had been captured and she’d fallen head over heels in love with the programmers who had been hired to create their website. After finding out everything her best friend had gone through, Elise was still skeptical hearing that Shea had fallen in love. She’d known these men for a few days, and here she was, talking about moving from their small town of Atherston, Illinois, up to the big city of Chicago.

Not knowing what to say to that news, Elise switched the conversation to her earlier attack and how she was spending the night with Chad and Dakota, in their guest bedroom. Shea must have heard the tremor in her voice when she spoke of the men, because her friend immediately picked up on it.

“Take it from me, Elise, if you want them, then go for it. Gray and Ian are the best things that ever happened to me.”

“I never said I wanted them, Shea. I’m not interested in a relationship, and certainly not with two men.”

“Well, at least stay with them until whoever attacked you is caught. I don’t like the thought of you driving back to Illinois on your own with someone after you. Cyn would agree with me, too.”

“I left her a message, by the way. She was driving to Indiana to see her aunt and then check out the other town you had researched. If you speak with her first, will you please let her know what’s going on?”

“Sure. Just stay by your men and let them keep you safe. Touch base with me tomorrow.” Elise heard Shea muffle some words against the speaker, obviously speaking with someone who was with her. “Hey, maybe we can have a double wedding.”

“Nice try, Shea,” Elise retorted wryly. “That’s not going to happen, because I’m going to make sure that they are the first candidates for our website.”

“Oh, Elise. You certainly have a lot to learn about love.”

Shea laughed and then bid her goodnight. Before Elise could respond to her last statement, Shea had disconnected their call. Elise cursed at the fact she didn’t get to reply, but it was something she was used to. Shea and Cyn always managed to get the last word in. She leaned over the tub and laid Chad’s cell phone on the rug. Sinking back down in the bubbles, Elise tried to close her eyes and relax.

Five minutes later, Elise knew that wasn’t going to happen. All she kept picturing behind her closed eyelids were Chad and Dakota posed in different positions like those on the covers of her books. What would it be like to have them make love to her? Elise had always maintained that she wouldn’t have a relationship, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t have sex. But then that would bring up the subject of why she was still a virgin, and Elise didn’t want to get into that.

Men made such a big deal out of a little bit of body tissue. So what that her hymen hadn’t been broken. That didn’t mean she didn’t know the mechanics of sex. Hell, describing sex scenes was how she made her living. She knew exactly what to do and how to do it. Between reading and watching videos, Elise probably knew more about sex than somebody who had actually had multiple partners.

No one knew her body like she did. Which was how she knew that being around Chad and Dakota all day long had her body set to explode. She wanted nothing more than to run her fingers through their black, silky hair. She loved the natural wave that each of them had. When Chad had kissed her earlier, she’d been blown away. The taste of his tongue on hers was like an explosion of sweet sugar. Did Dakota taste like that, too?

Elise rubbed her legs together, trying to ease the throbbing that had taken up residence in her clit. From the moment she had set eyes on them exiting the bar and seen their sexy laugh lines around their eyes, her body had had an instant reaction. It was a good thing she had a suitcase full of clothes, so she could change into new panties after her bath.

Elise glanced at the closed bathroom door, knowing it wasn’t locked. They wouldn’t come in here, would they? Not taking her eyes off the door, she slowly slid her hand underneath the bubbles and down her body. When her fingers came in contact with her engorged clit, Elise had to bite her lip to keep a moan from escaping. She started to make circular motions, trying to get a rhythm going. When that wasn’t enough, she glided her other hand down until her middle finger was at her entrance. Slipping it inside, she pumped in and out, hoping the small thrusting would help carry her to her goal.

Five minutes later, Elise was getting frustrated with her inability to reach an orgasm. She needed something more than her fingers. Elise looked down at the attached sprayer and considered her options. Listening carefully, she heard the men talking out in the living room and figured she was safe. Elise reached down and took the head off of its faucet. Not wanting to overflow the tub, she pulled the plug and turned on the water. She spread her legs wide and aimed the sprayer right on her clit. Perfect.

The pressure was exactly what she needed. She used her fingers on her left hand to spread her folds. Exposing the engorged set of nerves, the force of the water immediately sent her flying. A tingling sensation traveled up each leg, having started in her toes. By the time it reached her pussy, Elise had to lift her hips to maintain the intensity. In a flash of colors, her clit felt like it exploded and a weightless feeling settled over her body. Keeping the streams of water where they were, Elise rode the waves of her heartbeat until she realized she was holding her breath. Needing to breathe, Elise let go of her lip and sucked in some much-needed oxygen.

Knock, knock.

Elise jumped, the sprayer slipping from her fingers. Giving a yelp, she tried to grab it with her hand, but the force of the water had it swirling around the tub. Dakota burst in as she was trying to make a grab for the hose. Finally managing to get a grip on the white tube, Elise didn’t realize what would happen when she pulled it toward her. Water sprayed up in the air and into her face. She heard Dakota release a few cuss words, and then finally, water had stopped raining down upon her.

Elise tried to wipe her glasses off with her fingers but only ended up smearing the liquid across the lenses. Opening her eyes, she looked up to see Dakota’s shirt soaked through, finally giving her a glimpse of his chest through the white material—and what a chest it was. Moving her eyes farther north, Elise saw droplets of water running down Dakota’s face and tiny dew drops on the end of his curls.

“I am so sorry,” Elise whispered, sinking down into what was left of the bubbles. “I was just—well, I was trying to—I lost control of the sprayer.”

She was too mortified to explain that she had masturbated in their tub because her reaction to them left her sexually frustrated. And on top of that, what was even more humiliating was the fact that the minute she saw his chest, her clit became engorged with more blood. The initial throbbing returned, pulsing through her pussy and making it ache to be filled. She had totally lost control of her body.

“We heard you moaning and thought maybe you were in pain,” Dakota said, looking her over. When his eyes roamed over the white foam and landed on her face, Elise felt a flush steal across her cheeks. “Did you just have an orgasm?”

Elise gave up and slid her back down the porcelain. Holding her breath, she let herself slip underneath the water in order to shield her flaming face, not caring that her glasses were now submerged. The heat of the water did nothing to dispel the color she knew her cheeks must have been displaying. Mortification set in, and she would give anything right now for the tub to swallow her whole.

Hands reached in through the bubbles and hauled her up. Not stopping at where she would be sitting, those strong hands kept going until she was standing on her feet, water cascading down her body. Before she could bring up her arms to shield her breasts from view, Dakota wrapped a soft towel around her. She refused to open her eyes, not wanting to see his face. What did he think of her now?

“Come on, sweetheart.” Keeping the towel tightly around her upper body, Dakota placed an arm underneath her legs and swung her up into his arms. “Let’s get you dried off and into bed. Then we’re going to have a little conversation.”

“I don’t want to have a conversation,” Elise argued, her voice muffled by his wet shirt. Her glasses were digging into her face, but she refused to look up at him and didn’t want to see if Chad was outside the door. “You know, my life is very routine. I know exactly how every day is going to go, and I like it like that. Since I met you guys, my life has been sent into chaos. I don’t like it.”

Elise felt his chest rumble with a laugh. She knew she sounded like an impertinent child who wasn’t getting their way, but she couldn’t help it. She liked everything orderly, knowing what to expect in life.

“Life is supposed to bring us unexpected surprises,” Dakota said.

They must have already walked into his bedroom, because he was setting her down on her feet. Elise felt the towel slipping, along with her glasses. She caught the towel, while Dakota was the one who grabbed for her glasses. Instead of giving them back to her, he placed them somewhere she couldn’t see.

“Not in my world. Would you please hand me my glasses?”

What surprised her most was that instead of doing as she asked, Dakota seized the towel and quickly dried her off. In a blink of an eye, he had her situated under his covers. It amazed her that not once was she truly shy of her nudity. He made her feel like it was the most natural thing in the world for him to take care of her. If only he would hand over her glasses so she could see.

“You don’t need them. You’re going to sleep,” Dakota ordered. When she would have argued, he tucked the sheets tightly underneath her body. “In the morning, we have some errands to run and you’ll come with us. Then we’ll check in with the sheriff and see if he has any leads. As for you thinking you have to take care of your own orgasms, that’s about to change.”

“Now wait a sec—”

“The chemistry between the three of us is indisputable,” Dakota said, speaking right over her. “The sheriff called while you were otherwise occupied and said he doesn’t want you leaving town or he’ll place you in protective custody. So, during that time, Chad and I are going to do our best to convince you to give us a chance. You won’t ever have to give yourself an orgasm again—we’ll be more than happy to accommodate you.”

“The sheriff did not say that,” Elise argued, struggling to get out from underneath the cocoon he had her in. Since his hands were placed on either side of her, he prevented her from succeeding. “And I already told you that technology is far more advanced than any man.”

Elise didn’t need to see to know that her statement got to Dakota, like she’d intended. His body became stiff and he slowly lowered himself until his face was inches from hers. At this close distance, Elise was able to see him clearly. His eyes had turned that cobalt blue they did when he got angry. His nostrils flared a bit, and the muscle in his jaw was ticking. A thrill of something she couldn’t name passed through her and went straight to her pussy.
