“I should have treated you better,” he insisted.

“I should have treated myself better,” she countered.

He kissed her hand where it lingered over his lips. “Well, if we’re both agreed that treating you well is a top priority…I’d really like another try.”

Neil approached then and rolled his eyes at them. “Are you guys done nauseating me? There’s a medic here who seems to think Ian has one foot in the grave. He’d like to take a look at that gaping, oozing head wound.”

Fiona offered Neil a hand, but he jumped back as if burned. “I’m not touching those things. Ian might like playing with fire, but I like my women nice and cold.” He cast a glance at Agent Harding and sighed. “The colder the better.”

“Thank you, Ian, for coming after me,” Fiona said, ignoring the medic who moved next to Neil and glared at them. “You have no idea how much that matters.”

“Does this mean you might be able to forgive me some day?” Ian asked.

Fiona brushed her lips against his forehead, a promise and a caress wrapped up in one. Her mouth moved lower, and they locked in a kiss that might have lasted minutes. But it could have been hours. He hoped it was hours.

“Oh, Ian,” she said, her mouth against his. “It means I already have.”

About the Author

Tamara Morgan is a romance writer and unabashed lover of historical reenactments—the more elaborate and geeky the costume requirements, the better. In her quest for modern-day history and intrigue, she has taken fencing classes, forced her child into Highland dancing, and, of course, journeyed annually to the local Renaissance Fair. These feats are matched by a universal love of men in tights, of both the superhero and codpiece variety.

Tamara lives in the Inland Northwest with her husband and daughter. She can be found online at
