How to Measure Success
  1. Does she take an interest and have an awareness of letters
that she sees around her whether in books or on signs
while she is riding in the car? If not, then step up your
    energy and enthusiasm with this.
  2. Does she try to say the sound of the letter than she is
seeing now? Sometimes you have to encourage this.
  3. Does she hear sounds and try to repeat them with great
pride and happiness as she looks for your affirmations?
  4. Does she try to sound out a word with the knowledge that
    she has now?
  5. Does she say, Let’s Play Letters and get excited about
    doing so?

It is hard to think of appropriate child
friendly words. Refer to these pages often.

Watch videos on your computer with
them…..Boys like Fire Trucks, Monster Trucks, Demolition of tall buildings,
Volcanoes, Ships and Airplanes in storms...discuss what is going on. This is
great for their awareness and vocabulary. Girls like Animals, and anything that
is particularly interesting to them like Art, Crafts, Horses, Gymnastics, or

WAY THROUGH

Sound out every word that you see in their
children’s books or signs or in a restaurant or on TV….This becomes a moment of
learning for your babe…Eventually she will start doing this on her own. It is a
joy to see.

Learning the names and sounds of letters
creates a lot of interaction between the two of you as you must be noticing. It
is fun looking for words and letters in public places. It gives you two
something to say to each other when you are out and when you are home. This is
an added interaction that is a wonderful side benefit to this. They love the
attention and time that you are devoting to them especially if you do this with
love, a sense of humor, and admiration. This has to make both of you very
happy.  The bond between the two of you can only strengthen as long as you keep
this light and happy. Don't overemphasize or demand any of this. Remember to
make this all very casual, matter of fact, and loving. Are you seeing any
progress? Review letters and sounds often. You will be surprised at how much
they learn and remember. Be very patient and loving.

THESE FIVE MINUTES A DAY WILL CHANGE THEIR
LIVES!!!!
