“Don’t be afraid, Mommy.” Thank God, his voice! “Don’t be afraid.” I stared at his face and realized the voice came from within him as his lips were not moving.

“Leif?”

His head turned slowly in my direction. His eyes found mine. Somehow I knew he was okay.

“What’s happening to you, Leif?”

“Enlightenment.”
