Lydia
knew her eyes were twinkling. She couldn’t have been any happier than she was tonight. It wasn’t possible. Rick lifted her hand and played with the new two karat diamond on her ring finger. “Did you get any ideas for our wedding?”

Lydia
leaned in and pressed her lips to his. “Let’s elope.”

Claire, sitting next to her, gasped. “You wouldn’t dare.”

Across the table, Abby’s son, John, grinned and placed his elbows on the table and winked at both of his aunts. “She would, and she does; I’ve seen it.”

The general cleared his throat. “Why didn’t I know about this?”

Lydia
laid her head back down on Rick’s shoulder and considered the general’s question. “Because our wedding isn’t technically any of your business.”

He crossed his arms over his chest. “That’s not what I’m talking about.” He motioned his head toward John.

Lydia
sat up and put her palms on the table. “Not tonight, not here, or I’ll take you out, old man.”

Rick rubbed up and down
Lydia
’s back. “He wouldn’t do that.” He narrowed his eyes at the general. “Would you?”

The general sat back and grumbled. “We’re going to need all the help we can get in our fight against Floyd. Another person with your abilities isn’t something that I’m just going to forget.” He nodded toward
Lydia
. “You can keep tabs on him and help train him like Brody did with you. He’ll be an asset.”

Claire, Abby, and Emma narrowed their eyes toward the general.

Lydia
chuckled. “He’s still too young and I want him to have a chance at a normal life. Something that I never knew, so if you know what’s best for you, you’ll drop it now… or I walk and take Rick with me.”

The General grumbled but dropped the idea all together.
Lydia
closed her eyes and leaned against her fiancé’s chest. Her life was never going to be boring.

Briggs Story

Coming Soon!

M

Briggs lifted the
beer bottle
in
his hands and sipped the
ice
cold beer. He needed this beer, keeping the Bennett
women
alive was hard work. He deserved this beer.

He glanced around the little establishment through the smoky haze that danced around the bar. He’d been in bars like this before, the only difference was the missing bikers and half clad women wearing leather and little else. No this place was different, calmer than most places he’d frequented back home. Three older men sat at the bar drinking their own beers and popping pretzels into their mouth. Their quiet banter back and forth gave them away as friends, or at least acquaintances. A slow country song wailed from the ancient juke box with words that mocked him drowning in his sorrows. He’d been in town for three months with no relief of leaving anytime soon. Lydia Bennett, the oldest and most powerful of the Bennett sisters had almost died twice on his watch. “My track record is going to hell.”

“You can say that again.” Brody Connors, the most annoying of the Connor twins agreed as he walked up behind him.

Connors pulled out a chair and turned it around before he sat down. “Is this a pity party for one or can anyone join?”

Connors lifted his hand toward the waitress. “Can I get a beer darling?”

The twentyish year old waitress grinned and lowered her lashes. “Sure.”

Connors was oblivious to the shy girl, but Briggs wasn’t. He noticed everything and everyone around him. It was stuff like that, which made him so good at his job.

Briggs picked at the label on his beer. “Don’t you have someone else to go aggravate. I’m sure Thompson is missing you by now.”

The waitressed returned with Connor’s beer. He winked as he handed her the bills. “Keep the change sweetheart.”

The waitress blushed.

Briggs shook his head. “Can’t you drink that somewhere else?” Briggs lifted his hand to his ear and pretended to listen. “I think I hear your brother calling you… why don’t you run along now like a good little boy.”

Brody laughed. “Dude, seriously? You think I actually listen to that stick in the mud? Or you for that matter.”

The door to the bar opened. The silhouette of a woman with lush curves stood in the doorway; her face hidden behind the veil of smoke. She waved her hand in front of her face before she stepped in, letting the door close behind her and block out the sun.
Jamie
Bloom
.

Jamie Bloom, another one of the powerful elite supernatural soldiers spotted them in mere seconds. Her
light violet
gaze held Briggs as she walked closer closing in on his attempt at peace. His gaze lowered. Her jeans hung loose on her hips. Her t-shirt did little to hide the six-pack abs he’d noticed during their last workout. The woman was sin with a dash of sugar and a secret past all rolled up in one.

Brody nudged Briggs in the arm. “You’re in trouble now.”

Jamie sauntered up between the two of them. She took the beer bottle from Briggs and pressed it against her lips. Lifting her head back on her shoulders, she drained the remainder of the beer he’d been enjoying.

She swiped at her lushes pink lips with the back of her hand, catching the droplets that had escaped. “You’re up, big boy. She’s had another vision.” Jaime turned and left the same way she’d entered.

Brody and Briggs remained motionless, both of their eyes trained on the sway of Jamie’s ass until she was out of sight.
