“Love you too, minx. We’re doing good time. First and last time MacAlister’s ever gonna be on
my
boat, though.”

She laughed. “I think
Miss Grizzly
can take it.”

“She sure can. ’Specially since I’m renaming her after you, and you’re the toughest girl I know.”

“What?” she asked, flushing. “After me? You are?”

“Sure. You’re a miss grizzly, aren’t you?” He turned to look at her, the gold glowing fondly in his eyes. “And I love you.”

She nipped the rim of his ear, then kissed his neck. He tasted like hot salt.

“Love you, love you, love you. Et cetera, ad infinitum.”

He chuckled. “Get back down there and watch MacAlister. Don’t let him… touch anything.”

Laughing, she turned and leapt back down to the deck, where Dane was watching the pod swim away, off toward the wild.

“Beautiful, aren’t they?” he asked, taking one hand off the railing to put it around her again. She loved for him to hold her.

“Yes.”

“Ginger, back in Seattle, I want you to live with me.”

“In your fancy apartment?”

“Yes. Will you?”

“Oh, God. I can already hear what Laila will say. And my family.”

“We can have a formal human wedding when we get there. For their sake, and to give you access to my assets.”

“I don’t care about your assets.”

“I know.” He smiled. “That’s why I want you to have them.”

She kissed him, full on the mouth; he growled into it, the animal inside him half-tempted by her taste to take her.

“I’ll live with you,” she said, putting her arms around his neck. “Where else in the world would I be than with you or with him?”

“Do you regret becoming one of us, darling? Will you be alright like this?”

“I’m happy.” She pressed herself flush against him, cheek to his chest. “And I’ll be fine. We all will.”

Dane’s arms closed protectively on her back. The orcas were disappearing in the water’s blue horizon, part of an animal world that they were both part of too.

“Yes,” Ginger said, closing her eyes with satisfaction. “We will.”
