"Series Finale, Part 1" (5.14.98) (8:54-9:27 pm).
  Jerry receives a telephone call that NBC is interested in discussing his defunct television pilot from five years ago.  During negotiations, NBC signs the sitcom to a 13-episode commitment, and offers him use of a private jet before moving to California.  The gang decides to vacation in Paris, but end up in Latham, Massachusetts.  While awaiting repair of the plane, they witness a carjacking and are arrested for failing to lend assistance to the crime victim.  They hire Jackie Chiles as defense counsel, and the case is set for trial. 
Subplots:
Kramer has water in his ear and cannot dislodge the blockage.  Elaine uses a cellular phone to make a health inquiry about a friend's hospitalized father.

"Series Finale, Part 2" (5.14.98) (9:27-10:00 pm).
  A media circus surrounds the criminal trial of the New York Four.  The prosecution attempts to attack the character of each defendant by calling witnesses to testify about past involvement with the band of selfish, callous and indifferent human beings.  In a lengthy list of disgruntled friends, lovers, coworkers, and acquaintances, the gang is convicted of criminal indifference and sentenced to one year in jail.  Jerry becomes the prison comic, while Kramer and George remain loyal supporters. 
Subplots:
Kramer finally extricates the water blockage from his ear, and Elaine makes a health inquiry using her only telephone call from jail.
