Chasing Fireflies

Chasing fireflies, I forgot I had a star.

With me the whole time, I didn’t see what you are.

Someone who saw the bad,

and would’ve stuck with me to the end.

And that’s my biggest regret.

Because I lost a true friend.

Now I’m aware of the mistake I made.

And I wish I could go back or change.

Time.

Making sure you were mine.

And that I showed you every day how much you meant to me.

That I didn’t need fireflies.

Because I had a star.

Chasing Fireflies.

Distant Worlds

Run away with me.

To a distant world only the heart can see.

Where neither pain nor sorrow exist.

And we can run wild and be free.

Sail away with me.

To a distant world only love can see.

Where hearts are never broken and tears never fall.

We just float away together, with no worries at all.

Fly away with me.

To a distant world only love can be.

Where hugs and kisses make the sun rise and set.

And we soar the skies with the butterflies,

that were in our stomachs the first time we met.

So come with me.

Let’s travel and see.

These distant worlds our futures hold.

And true love will always be.

We’ll never worry and never cry.

Just Live, Love, and Forever Fly.

Distant Worlds.

Fool’s Gold

It was love at first sight.

At least I thought it was real.

But you were only fooling me.

Now you’ve lost your appeal.

As time went on

and months passed by,

your true colors showed.

Sometimes white, sometimes black.

But it sure wasn’t gold.

Sifting through the empty words,

and all the pretty lies.

Revealed your true intentions,

and so I wasn’t surprised.

That when times got tough,

and things weren’t easy.

Instead of choosing to stay.

You packed your bags

and turned around.

And chose to walk away.

Fool’s Gold.

Beautiful Lie

It was beautiful, I can’t deny.

But through all the doubts,

the warnings, and the red flags,

I wouldn’t believe it was a lie.

The winks, the hugs, the empty words,

and all your flirty ways.

Should’ve kept me on my guard,

but left me in a daze.

You had my heart wound so deep,

I couldn’t see the truth.

My last thoughts before sleep,

revolved around you.

You see,

I couldn’t stop this train of love.

And I didn’t bother to try.

So it’s my fault that my heart was crushed.

The day you said goodbye.

A Beautiful Lie.

High Places

People.

You people.

You smile in my face.

You shake my hand.

But in reality,

deem me less than a man.

You shower me with compliments,

and give me false hopes.

But behind closed doors,

I’m the butt of your jokes.

Fakes, frauds, and phonies.

You’re all just the same.

And its people like you,

that give US a bad name.

So I look forward to seeing

the change in your views.

Had you the courage to change places

and walk a mile in my shoes.

High Places.

Emotional Jester

Juggling and toying with my heart and mind.

To your clever ways I’m still so blind.

Your smile, that wink you always use.

Telling me I’m the one you’ll choose.

But if that’s the case then why do I

always have to say goodbye?

Leaving me with stuck the blues.

Or blankly staring at the moon.

At night.

Wondering why no matter how hard I try

or fight.

You’ll never be mine.

Emotional Jester.
