“In Herman Wheeler’s house.”

“How perverted and wicked is that? They murder a man and then use his house for storage? What’s happening to this world, Reg?”

Reg just shook his head.

I didn’t want to appear too anxious but I had to know.

“By the way, how much is this reward and when do I claim it?”

Reg stood up and handed his cup to me.

“I believe Maxy told me it was ten thousand dollars and that you’ll receive it next week.”

“Ten thousand dollars? I can’t believe it! I can pay for my furnace now.”

Reg opened the door. “I’d say you can probably put a little away for your next one, too.”

Just before the door closed, I said, “You call the Captain, ‘Maxy’?”

“Not to his face.”

He grinned and shut the door.

All was well again in Parson’s Cove.
