“I got it,” Scott murmured as he reached up and opened them, allowing her to pull
her arms back down.

She sighed in relief as Scott gently rubbed her stiff arm.

“Did I scare you off, baby?” he whispered in her ear and placed a soft kiss on her
shoulder.

She shook her head, unsure she could make a sound through her dry throat.

“You okay?” he asked, just a hint of concern in his deep voice that tugged at Kiley’s
heart.

She turned and faced him. Placing her palm over his chest, she smiled tiredly. “I’m
more than fine. I think I like this side of you.”

Scott cupped her cheek and stared deep into her eyes. Kiley swore he could see straight
through to her thoughts and if the truth were known, they knew each other well enough
he probably could.

He rubbed his thumb over her cheek. “I love you, Kiley.”

The heartfelt words made tears gather in Kiley’s eyes. She’d waited so long to hear
him say those words she knew she would never tire of it. “I love you.”

Chapter Twenty-two

Paula stretched under the covers, instantly missing the feel of Keith behind her.
She frowned, wondering where he’d gone. Was he in the bathroom? Had having sex freaked
him out? Did he regret it?

She didn’t…mostly. What she was most concerned about was how it would affect their

relationship. She supposed it didn’t matter really. From this point on their relationship
would change. But how it would change was the big question.

The bedroom door opened, and she sat up, gripping the sheet to her chest.

“Good, you’re up,” he said as he placed a large tray on the bed. He picked up a cup
and handed it to her.

The scent of steaming coffee drifted up and immediately made her feel awake and starving.

She took the cup from his hand and smiled shyly. “Thank you.”

“How are you feeling this morning?” he asked.

Paula took a sip of the coffee, watching Keith remove the lids covering the food he’d
obviously ordered from room service. “A little sore,” she said, then shrugged. “You’re
a little bigger than I’m used to.”

He lifted his gaze, immediately meeting her eyes and widening with surprise. “Did
I hurt you?”

Her lips twitched. “God no.”

His eyes narrowed as he studied her intently. So intently that Paula looked down at
the tray.

“What’s for breakfast?”

“Everything,” he said. “But there’s something I need to tell you first.”

“Just so long as it’s not you’re married,” she replied without looking up at him.

He snorted. “I think you know the answer to that one, sweetheart. Not married.”

She brought a strawberry to her lips as she lifted her gaze back to his. “What then?”

“We have to go back.”

Paula swallowed, suddenly very self-conscious and insecure. Did he want to go back
because he felt last night was a mistake? Now in the light of day, Paula began to
wonder if maybe they’d gotten a little carried away. As great as the sex had been,
what was that going to do to their friendship?

“I know you don’t want to yet, and truthfully, neither do I, but…”

Paula set the strawberry on her napkin. “What is it, Keith?”

Keith sat on the edge of the bed and let his hand rest on her thigh. “Kiley’s been
watching James. Seems he’s been flirting with a few other women besides you.”

Paula nodded as a knot formed in her stomach. She felt for those women but at the
same time was also glad to know she wasn’t the only stupid one.

“We knew that was probably the case,” she said with a shrug.

He gave her thigh a squeeze. “One of those women is on her way to Peru. The guys and
I are going down to try and trap them.”

Her eyes widened in alarm. “Keith, no.”

He frowned. “What do you mean no?”

“This is a very bad drug cartel. You guys can’t go up against them alone.”

“We’re not alone. The D.O.J. is involved, as well as the D.E.A. This isn’t our first
tangle with a cartel. We’ll be fine.”

Paula shook her head as real fear for Keith tightened her stomach. Keith cupped her
neck, holding her still, forcing her to meet his gaze. He rubbed his thumb gently
over her jaw, making her feel all warm and tingling inside.

“It’ll be fine. I’ll drop you off at home, then fly to Peru and meet the guys.”

“I want to go, too.”

“No,” Keith said firmly as he dropped his hand from her neck.

“Why not? We can take the Lear and I can stay on the plane and wait for you.”

“Paula—“

“I want to be there. I want to know they’ve been caught.”
And I want to be there when you get back
on that plane so I know you’re okay.
“This isn’t just a regular mission. This is…Despite the fact I’m about to sound incredibly
selfish, this is about me. I almost lost everything because of them. If you hadn’t
gotten me out God only knows how long I would’ve been in there. I want to see these
guys get what they deserve. I might not be there when they’re arrested, but I want
to be on that plane when you guys get back and be there to celebrate that we finally
got the sons of bitches.”

Keith studied her closely for several seconds. “Sure that’s it?”

Paula frowned. “What else would it be?”

Keith was again silent, watching her. She wanted him to kiss her. Could he tell? Could
he see it in her eyes? Hear it in the pounding of her heart?

Were they going to talk about last night? Were they going to ignore it?

“I want to kiss you again,” Keith murmured so softly she wasn’t sure she’d heard him
correctly.

She licked her lips, wishing he would. “You probably think I’m some sort of…”

She sighed and glanced down at the tray of food, her hunger suddenly forgotten.

Keith gripped her chin and forced it up, bringing her gaze level with his.

“I don’t want to be that girl,” she whispered. “That girl that falls head over heels,
one guy after another like some flighty, fickle…”

She again sighed. Keith’s lips twitched slightly with amusement. He found her funny?

“I never loved him. I know that now. I was so stupid. And then you show up like some
knight in shining armor. I’ve known you for years. Lusted after you for years. And
now here we are, and I find myself falling again. What if it’s not real?”

Keith looked thoughtful as he softly brushed his thumb over her lower lip. “We take
this one day at a time. I’m not going anywhere and I’m in no hurry. No matter what,
we’re friends first.”

Paula fought a smile. “Friends with benefits.”

Keith leaned forward and placed a quick kiss on her lips. Pulling away, he tightened
the grip on her chin and shook her head slightly. “If last night was any indication
of those benefits, God help me when you’re feeling one hundred percent.”

She tilted her head. “I don’t know. I think I actually liked the fact I couldn’t move.
There was something very sexy about you holding me down.”

Keith sat back and drew in a slow breath. “I think I need a cold shower now. Thanks.”

Paula laughed as she watched him walk to the bathroom. “Aren’t you going to eat?”

“If I stay in here, I’ll eat you. Eat your breakfast. We leave out in a couple of
hours.”

The bathroom door shut, and Paula smiled, very pleased with herself over the affect
she had on him.

Keith sighed as the warm water slid over his body. Unfortunately, it did little to
ease the tension in his balls. He probably shouldn’t have slept with Paula. She was
vulnerable.

Narrowing his eyes, Keith glared toward the ceiling. He was a horny bastard, but God
help him, he hadn’t been able to keep his hands off her. For some reason, there was
something irresistible about her—like a tug that wouldn’t be denied.

Even now, thinking of her wrapped in a sheet, nothing on underneath, her hair mussed
from sleep, her skin flushed - it was all he could do to keep from jumping her.

Thinking of how she’d looked last night as she screamed out her release made his cock
thicken with need. He gripped the base, squeezing slightly.

The door to the bathroom opened, and he turned his head to see Paula standing just
on the other side of the glass shower door. His balls drew up tighter at the sight
of her naked. His gaze lowered over her curvy figure, her full, perky breasts, her
thighs. He swallowed, remembering how those thighs had felt wrapped around his hips.

Damn, she was stunning.

She dropped her stare to his cock and the hand he still had wrapped around it. Keith
wanted it to be her hand, her lips, her pussy. Any and all. As he slid his gaze back
up her body, he stopped at the bruise covering her side. It looked better today, but
still black with tinges of yellow.

She reached for the handle on the shower door and pulled it open. Keith didn’t say
anything.

He couldn’t. He just moved aside, allowing her inside the warm steam. She tentatively
reached out and touched the back of the hand that held his cock in a death grip.

She let her fingers slide over his hand, then up his shaft. When they brushed over
the moist tip of his cock, he lost it. All sense of thought, concern, wisdom... It
all went out the window replaced by a stunning need so great, it left him shaking.

He let go of his cock and cupped her face. As he slanted his lips across hers he shoved
her backward into the shower wall. Her gasp of surprise, then low sultry moan, was
lost in his mouth as he deepened the kiss.

He wanted to be gentle with her. He wanted to take things slow so as not to hurt her,
but he couldn’t. Bracing one hand against the tile by her head, the other he lowered
down her body.

He touched between her legs and moaned at the juices coating his fingers. He slid
them through her labia, smearing them around her clit and opening. The way her hips
moved with his touch, the way her moans echoed through the shower, made his whole
body shiver in undeniable need.

She was just as turned on as he was. Her hips jerked as he moved his fingers over
her pussy, teasing her opening and then her clit. It was swollen and hard, her pussy
wet and tight. God, she was tight.

Grasping her ass with both hands, he lifted her. She wrapped her legs around his waist,
and her arms around his shoulders holding tight as he pressed her against the tile.
Their lips never separated as he found the entrance to her hot core and shoved inside.
Her moan was lost in his mouth as he pushed deeper, stretching her tight walls with
his shaft.

Heat surrounded him, sucked at him as her walls quivered. She felt so good. So damn
good, he could hardly think straight. He thrust deeper, and ground gently with his
groin, teasing her clit.

Paula broke the kiss and her head fell back against the tile. She screamed, her nails
digging into his shoulders as her release raced through her.

Keith grit his teeth, holding himself back even as her pussy sucked him in. She was
so tight he could feel every ripple, every quiver of her walls. With a shout of his
own, he gave in, losing himself to his own pleasure and spilling himself deep inside
her.

It went too quick, like an uncontrollable force. He’d never been with anyone who did
that to him.

He dropped his forehead to hers and sighed. “You make me crazy,” he whispered. “Normally,
I like to seduce, to tease, to talk dirty.” He pulled away and stared into her sated
stare. “With you, all I can think is Keith fuck Paula like some drunk Neanderthal.”

Paula giggled. “I don’t know. I kinda like it.”

Chuckling, Keith leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on her lips. Still buried inside
her, he could feel himself getting hard again. He could feel the tide rising. This
pull she had on him was insane.

“Are you okay?” he asked. Looking down, he brushed his palm over her bruise. “I’m
afraid I’m hurting you.”

“If you are, I didn’t notice.” She brought her head forward and kissed the side of
his neck. “I’m tougher than I look.”

“I’m finding that out,” he murmured, enjoying the feel of her lips on his flesh.

* * * *

Kiley strolled into their office an hour late. She’d had some errands to run this
morning. With all the time she’d been spending with Scott, she’d neglected all the
other stuff she was supposed to be doing—like going to the bank and picking up the
office supplies she was out of. Normally, Miranda took care of the general stuff,
but Kiley liked to get her own supplies, especially the ones concerning the tech equipment.

She heard voices down the hall and after setting her stuff on the desk in her office,
she headed toward the familiar noise of an office full of men.

Sticking her head into the break room, she smiled at John. “Hey, welcome back.”

She came further into the room and accepted John’s big bear hug. He lifted her into
the air and shook her from side to side, making her laugh.

He set her on her feet, and she moved around the room to the other men. Each one gave
her a hug and kiss on the cheek. Miranda soon joined them and squealed as she ran
into John’s outstretched arms. Smiling, Kiley watched her make her rounds as well.

Scott crossed his arms and scowled as she passed by him without giving him a hug.
“Hey,” he said. “Where’s mine?”

“You’ve been here the whole time,” Miranda replied good-naturedly.

Scott shook his head. “That’s no excuse.”

“Oh, good lord,” Miranda said with a barely suppressed laugh.

John laughed as well. “Now you know, Miranda, you can’t give one of us a hug without
giving one to all of us.”

“Well, then. God help me if I ever wanted to have sex with one of you.”

John walked over and with his hand at the small of Miranda’s back whispered something
in her ear that made the older woman’s cheeks turn red. Kiley watched them with interest,
and turned a surprised glance toward Scott. He shrugged one shoulder, then winked
knowingly. Miranda and John? Did they have something going?

She walked over and whispered close to John. “Does Keith know?”
