Chapter Five

Colette giggled as Sabin took off her black pumps and her dress. He lowered her into the Jacuzzi nude and watched to make sure that she didn’t go under water. She laughed and splashed water on him and asked him to join her. He also undressed himself and joined her. She did everything he could not to look at his stepsister’s body, no matter how stunning. Colette leaned over toward Sabin and out her hand on his defined chest and leaned in to kiss him tenderly. He reciprocated with a hard and passionate kiss. The alcohol that pumped through their veins had so much influence over them, they couldn’t resist of deny it. Sabin put his hands in Colette’s wet hair and pulled her in even more. He pulled her toward him and sat her on his lap while he kissed her even harder. She felt his large hard member press in between her soft tight thighs and she laughed.  Sabin awkwardly laughed under his breath and pressed it down so that she could get closer to him. Suddenly, Collette pulled away and covered her mouth. She quickly got out of the hot tub and ran for the bathroom where Sabin heard her be sick. Sabin dressed himself in his silk pajamas and waited for her to come out. She reemerged in only a towel and a miserable look on her face. Sabin helped her to the bed and brought her a bottle of medicine and fresh clothes. She lay on the bed and laid her heavy head down as Sabin dressed her, no longer aroused.

Sabin spent his night checking on Colette. He wasn’t sure if it were food poisoning, the flu or the booze. Either way, he did everything that he could to ensure that she was comfortable and well taken care of. He cleaned her mouth for the hundredth time and emptied her bucket before he slipped into bed with her. The long walk up and down the steps was beginning to hinder him from checking on her as much as he wanted to. Colette slipped under his arm and laid her head on his chest. That’s how she woke up. Her head was throbbing in pain and her eyes were blurry. She no longer felt sick, until she thought about last night. A pain sit in her stomach as she thought about what she had done with her stepbrother. She hoped it was just a naughty dream and not a giant mistake.

Sabin woke up as Colette stirred. He put his large hand on her and smiled, happy to see her condition had changed. Colette pulled away from him and walked into the bathroom. She ran herself a shower and stepped in. Sabin joined her and began to kiss her. She wanted desperately to pull away from him but his taste was intoxicating and she had been so thankfully for last night. Colette turned and Sabin softly tickled her lower back. He went lower and traced her curves and drifted in between her legs. She moaned as he touched the most sensitive parts of her body. He turned her body so she was facing him. He pressed his body against her and kissed her as the water fell over their faces. Colette lifted her leg and pulled him closer to her with it, leaving her sweet spot open to him. He seized the opportunity with a hard thrust. It had been so long since Colette had felt a man inside her. It felt the first time. He softly bit her neck as she let out cries of pleasure. She pressed against him and they both climaxed at the same moment. Sabin kissed her and doped up her body and washed her hair. Each and every one of his touches were so intense against her sensitive skin. She looked at him with infatuation and a knot in her stomach.

Sabin made Colette breakfast as she sat silently looking out at the ocean. A knock came at the door and Sabin answered it only to see Charlie. They spoke to each other in a hushed voiced before Sabin excused himself and left the room. Colette looked at the breakfast that Sabin had made for her. He had been so loving and kind to her. He had made her feel that feeling that she had been craving for years. He made her feel so special and important. She felt so guilty for the feelings that she had for him. She had known him since she was born. In all regulars but blood, he was her brother. She wanted to be sick again when a knock came at the door. Colette opened it to see the older woman that had been flirting with Sabin. She looked Colette over with a scrutinizing harsh eye.

"Is Sabin in?" Mrs. Gudaunt asked in a snooty voice.

"No, he's working." Colette said with a friendly smile.

"So, are you in girlfriend?" She asked inviting herself in.

"Sister." Colette said as she offered the woman a soda which she denied.

The woman became instantly more friendly and open to Colette as she realized that she wasn't a threat to her fruitless efforts of bedding Sabin. They sat and spoke and Colette was thankfully to have a distraction from what had went on in the shower that morning. She had been so conflicted about everything that was going through her mind. She had never felt the way that she felt about Sabin about another man. At the same time, she felt so guilty and wrong. The older woman excused herself and left the room as Colette cleaned up the mess from breakfast.

Chapter Six

Sabin returned home later that night to find Colette watching some romantic movie alone. She looked so beautiful to him. Her hair was slightly curled from being damp and she was so focused on the screen. He had watched the woman who sat on the couch grow up. She was always so sweet and compassionate about everyone and everything. He thought back to a time when she came into his room crying she was utterly heartbroken over some teenage boy who didn’t know what he had while he was dating her. He relentlessly broke up with her to be with her former best friend. Sabin remembered how he held her in his arms and stroked her hair until they both fell asleep. He woke up later that night to her snoring. It was so quiet and soft. It had been so adorable. The memory made him smile as he joined her on the sofa and she coldly got up to leave. A painful confusion from the move had left an ache in Sabin. He knew that she struggled with what they were doing, but didn’t understand her moodiness.

"Lette, why are you acting this way? You make love to me then you ignore me. Why?" The look on Sabin's face was genuinely confused

"This is wrong Sabin." Collette said feeling vulnerable.

"How can it be wrong to love another person this much?" Sabin asked with tears in his eyes. Colette's heart stopped.

"You love me?" She asked sitting back down.

"I've always loved you, but it's different now. I want you to experience all of the things that Michael deprived you of. I want to make it up to you." Sabin said holding her. "Who cares if no one else understands?"

“I love you too Sabin." He leaned in to kiss her. His thumb resting on the scar that he as a little boy had given her. He grimaced. "What is it?" She said worried that the scar had been unattractive to him.

"Do you know why I hated you so much?" Sabin said with saddened eyes.

"No. Why did you?" Colette asked looking into his hurt eyes. The question had always bothered her. She had never done anything to make him hate her. She was always cautious around him, sure to be kind and gentle.

"Because you were the only girl more beautiful than my mother. I thought that God had to take her so that you could live. Like the world wasn't allowed to have that much beauty in it at once." Tears fell down Colette's face from the beautiful sentiment. She had never known why Sabin had been as hateful to her as a child, and knowing why was a huge relief.

She leaned in and kissed him again. He could feel her smiling through his lips as he held her tightly. The woman in his arms had meant so much to him. Their love was formed by God, and God didn't make mistakes. He picked Colette up into his arms and carried her to the room where they talked and laughed. She fell asleep in his arms hours later and he looked at her while she slept. The light had returned to her beautiful eyes. She was living again instead of just surviving. Sabin kissed her on the head before falling asleep himself, he whispered.

"I love you."

Sabin woke up to Colette crying softly. He put his large hand on her to comfort her. She turned to him and buried her face in his arms. The tears rolled down his muscular arm and onto the mattress. Sabin’s heart broke with each and every tear that rolled down her face.

“What’s wrong my love?” He asked as he stroked her hair.

“Why did my marriage fall apart?” Colette was breaking down, finally feeling what she was entitled to.

“Because, sometimes, you only need someone in your life for a short time. Sometimes people change. The world is unfair Lette. You both grew, you just grew apart.” Sabin said as Colette rolled over in his arms. He wiped tears from her eyes and smiled at her. “It just wasn’t meant to be.” He kissed her forehead.

“Are we meant to be together?” Colette asked.

“Look at all of the random coincidences that brought us together. No matter what, we’ll always be a part of each other’s life. We’re permanent.” Sabin held her tightly and the tears stopped falling from her beautiful eyes.

Colette silently fell asleep in Sabin’s arms. Soon after that she began to sore her light and soft snore. The familiar sound warmed his heart as he admired her. The woman lying next to him was more important to him than anyone else. He had never told anyone that he had only went to the Navy to quiet the desire that he had for her. Even overseas, he found himself thinking of only Colette. When the other men would talk about the women that they left back in the states, he would talk about Colette, leaving out some details of course. Sabin dug into his pocket and pulled out the small black velvet box that was meant for her. The setting was her favorite white gold and the diamond was the largest the jeweler had. He had spent hours picking it out, but once he saw it, he knew that it was the perfect one. It was like it had been made just for Colette’s long and dainty finger. He knew that she would love it, but even still, nervousness grew within him. Colette had been in a sensitive state. Michael had done a number on her. If she accepted the ring, then Sabin’s life would be made complete. She was all that he had ever wanted. He had day dreamed about how he would propose to her a hundred times over, nothing ever seemed good enough for his beloved Colette. He looked again at the sleeping beauty. He slid the ring on her finger gently. It was a perfect fit.

Epilogue

Things had been awkward the first two months that they had been home. Colette was officially divorced and they wanted desperately to announce their engagement to their parents. The ring was enormous and difficult to hide from their parents, but Colette felt naked without it. Sabin had proposed the idea of marriage during the stop at the Bahamas. He hid the ring in Colette's champagne and she was shocked to find it. She immediately said yes and became Sabin's fiancée. Rachel walked into the room that Colette had been in painting in. Colette had been painting every day since their return. With Sabin in her life, she had never run out of inspiration. A small art gallery had taken her on and her paintings were beginning to sell very well. After watching her daughter work her craft on the canvas, Rachel took her daughters hands into hers and looked into her eyes.

"I'm not stupid Colette." Rachel said. "I know about you and Sabin."  Her mother had always been a no nonsense kind of person. Colette’s heart stopped like she had been caught doing something punishable by a fate worse than death.

"Are you mad?" Colette said feeling like a child again.

"No dear. I'm not angry. I see the way that you look at him. I see the way he brings life to you." Rachel kissed her daughter's head and got up to leave. "Oh, and I know something else too." Rachel pointed at Colette's newly pregnant stomach and winked. Colette had only found out the day before and Sabin hadn't even known yet. Colette's skin was glowing but not much else was showing. “A mother always knows."  A huge sense of relief washed over Colette as she realized one of the biggest things that she had been dreading was now over. Her mother loved her unconditionally, and she knew that now. Colette had been happy. For the first time in such a long time, pain didn’t touch her. She no longer longed to be loved, she knew that she was. Sabin had been there to love her like she had never been before. She no longer felt like she could disappear and never be missed. The feeling was empowering and life altering. An excitement was ignited in her as she thought about telling Sabin he was going to be a father.

Colette took Sabin out to the back yard and handed him a black box with grey flowers on it. He opened it to find a book about fatherhood and a positive pregnancy test. It took him a moment to understand but when he did he was ecstatic. He kissed Colette’s stomach and began to coo at it. Until that moment, he hadn’t known how desperately he had wanted to be a father. A father to Colette’s child.

Hannah Rachel Silva was born on August 1st, two months after her parents wedding. She had Sabin's eyes and Colette's nose. Her long blonde hair was purely golden and there was a light in her stunning eyes. Her parent’s looked at her with an undying and infinite love. She was the image of utter perfection.
