Today his voice no longer has the power to haunt me, but it always, always makes me stop and remember.

I went on to have a successful career as a costume designer. I designed the wardrobe for the music videos of Billy Idol, Mötley Crüe, Ben E. King, Jon Bon Jovi, Slaughter, James Brown, KISS, Queensryche, and Guns N' Roses' debut videos “Welcome to the Jungle” and “Sweet Child of Mine”—along with 150 other artists. And, to make the circle complete, I was booked for the pick-up shots for Fleetwood Mac's “Little Lies.”

By that time, I was so busy that sometimes I would be shooting two videos on the same day—and because of this, I was on another set when Lindsey shot his segments. Which was how I wanted it. It was still a bit soon for me to take any encounters with him lightly, and I'm sure that he felt the same way. I did, however, arrive in time to spend hours with John McVie and Mick—and it was both sad and wonderful to be with them again. As the years passed, I would spend time with every member of Fleetwood Mac at weddings, baby showers, and chance encounters.

In the early 1990s, I was reunited with my daughter and I learned that her adoptive parents had kept their promises to me. My daughter was not only highly educated, she was beautiful, funny, and one of the sweetest women you could hope to meet. It was one of the happiest days of my life when I once again was able to put my arms around her and tell her that I loved her. A short time later, I attended her wedding.

In 1993 I saw Lindsey at the funeral of our beloved housekeeper Desi. We'd lost her to a sudden heart attack and both Lindsey and I were devastated. I sat next to him at the memorial service and he held me close as I sobbed. The very last thing that he said to me before I walked out of the church with Sara Fleetwood was, “You still have the most fragile feel to your shoulders of anyone I've ever met.” We stood and looked at each other, faces wet with tears, and we smiled.

And then we walked away—back to our separate lives.
