“The council is
coming here?”  Jackson nodded.  “They are going to determine their fates and
ours.”

“What do you mean
ours?”  Jackson hung his head.

“I mean they are
going to decide if we are to remain as alphas, they haven’t approved of us yet
and after this…”  I gasped.

“I didn’t know
that they had to approve of us, I thought that when Dad gave us his blessing
that we were good.”  He shook his head.  “That’s crap.”

“Your dad told me
that they would have a meeting and discuss it then let us know.”

“You didn’t tell
me that.”

“You didn’t need
to worry about it Sweetness.  I figured it was a done deal.”  He put his arm
around me.  “I’m sorry Summer, I should’ve told you.  It won’t happen again, no
matter what.”  I leaned into him and rested my face against his neck just to
breathe him in.  “I have to go Sweetheart.”

“Jackson.”  I
didn’t know what I wanted to say but I didn’t want him to go yet.  Kelly was
cuddled in Earl’s arms and Autumn in Tim’s.  Autumn looked angry at what was
going to happen but Tim was consoling her.  “I need you so don’t get hurt.”  He
kissed the top of my head and got up.  “Jackson.”  I said with my biggest doe
eyes.  He gave me a soft smile.

“Anything for you
Darlin’, your safety is most important, and I’m going to make sure that you are
safe.”

“Wait for Dad.”
Jackson shook his head.

“We could all be
dead by then.”  Jackson rounded up his troops.  He left four males with us and
took the rest of the male pack members with him.  They shifted at once and
headed in the direction of the house.  I wait for a few minutes then tell the
rest of them to stay put.  I shift and follow.  I want to make sure that
nothing goes wrong, at least that’s what I told myself.

I watched as my
pack members flanked the house.  They were at every door and window.  There was
no movement inside.  Jackson was at the side door that went into the kitchen.
I saw him then, Christian.  He was coming from the woods behind the house and
he was nearing Jackson.  Jackson scented him and turned.  Both of them shifted
into their wolves and the battle began.  I wanted to help but I have to let
Jackson be the alpha, he has to do this on his own.  The three others are
coming from the woods now and entering the house while Christian and Jackson
battle.  There’s blood, teeth and claws everywhere at once.  I creep closer and
stay out of sight.  I watch.  If Jackson has any trouble, I will forget his
honor because I will not stand for my mate getting hurt.  Jackson has him down
and I stay where I am watching.  Christian flips him onto his back and snarls
in Jackson’s face, Jackson snaps at him.  Christian goes for Jackson’s throat.
I bolt.  My feet hardly hit the ground as I fly toward him.  I hit him hard
going for his throat but missing.  He tosses me through the air and I land with
a whimper.  Jackson roars.  I’m out of breath but I’m awake.  I struggle to get
up and when I finally do.  I see Jackson rip Christian’s throat out as he
flails.  Jackson flings muscle, sinew, and blood aside.  I shift as I walk over
to them.

“I did the same
thing to your alpha dickhead.  Nobody messes with Jackson or me.”  I spat down
at his dying eyes.  “Go to hell.”  Jackson wraps his arms around me and pulls
me away.  He still thinks that I’m too delicate for this kind of thing and
usually I may be but nobody hurts Jackson.  He’s
mine
.

Chapter 11

“Is that true
Summer?  Did you kill Frank?”  My father’s voice booms behind me.  I nod then
shake my head.  “Well, which is it?”  I can’t tell if he’s mad or not.  He has
a weird look on his face that I haven’t seen before.  It almost looks like
pride.

“He was going
after Jackson and yes I went for his throat.  I had him down and near death but
Jackson stopped me.  When he got up Kelly put a letter opener in his heart.
He’d just beat the crap out of her and yes I was angry about that but she was angrier
since he kept beating her up until she lost her pups.”  He nodded.  That’s all,
just nodded.

“I saw what
happened here today.  Were you told to stay behind and safe?”  I nodded and
chewed my lip.  “Why didn’t you?”

“Because I’m a
busy body at heart Dad you know that.”  He grinned.

“You’re an alpha.
I may have more questions later.  The council and I will need a place to meet
when they arrive.  Is your basement available?”  I nod again.  “Fine.  I am going
to send everyone else home but I will need someone to guard those three.”  He
pointed at Christian’s men.  They were duct taped in the porch furniture and
were bruised nicely.

I go to Jackson
after my dad speaks with him.  Tim and a few others are going after the women
but Jackson takes me inside.  He has my hand and is taking me down the hall to
our bedroom, I’m not sure why.  When we get there, he closes the door and locks
it then checks the windows.  I watch him with curiosity.  He turns toward me unbuttoning
his shirt.

“I told you to
stay at the cave and to guard the women.”  I nibble my lip.  “You didn’t follow
orders Summer.”  I realize now that I am in trouble.  I saved his life but he’s
still mad.  “How do you think that makes me look to the rest of the pack?”  I
shake my head.  I didn’t think about that because I was thinking of him.  He’s
removed his pants now.  I can see them drop from the corner of my eye.
“Summer?”  I look up now.  God he is so sexy

“I’m sorry.  I was
worried about you.  I just wanted to be sure that you were okay.”  I look up at
him.  He’s standing over me now with his hands on his hips.

“You didn’t
believe in me?”  My eyebrows knit.  I never considered that.  I sigh.

“I wanted to
protect you.”  I try to keep the whine out of my voice but fail miserably.

“Take your clothes
off.”  What?  Why?  I don’t understand but I stand and strip as quickly as I
can because he’s already mad and I don’t need added trouble.  Jackson is
sitting on the bed now.  As soon as my clothes are off, he pulls me across his
lap.

“What are you
doing?”  I cry as I try to get free.

“Who is your
alpha?”  He hisses.

“You are, but…”  A
sharp slap resounds across my bottom.  “Jackson?”  I squeal.  “Another smack.
“Ouch!”  Another.  “Damn it Jackson!”  I try to get up but his forearm has braced
my lower back in place and I can’t get free.

“When I give you
an order what do you do?”  I moaned

“Jackson…”  I’m
not struggling anymore.  “I’m sorry.  I was worried, I didn’t think, I wanted
to protect you.  I won’t do it again…you are my alpha, your word is law.”  The
spanking stopped and he flipped me onto my back.  My butt is sore but other
parts of me are awake and happy.  Surely, he will smell my arousal and it’s
embarrassing.  “I’m sorry.”  I swallow back the lump in my throat.  I can’t
believe that this has turned me on.  I’m some kind of masochist.  I must be.
Nobody likes that.  Do people like receiving a spanking from their mates?  I
did, I think.

“Thank you for
saving me.”  His eyes are so desperate.  “If anything had happened to you
Summer… do you understand what that would’ve done to me?”  I shake my head.
“It would’ve been worse than anything Christian could’ve done to me.”  Tears
leak from my eyes.  “No baby.”  He wipes them away with his thumbs.  “I love
you Summer, I’m glad you were there but at the same time I have to discipline
you for not doing what I said.  You have to follow orders Summer.  If you don’t
why would anyone else obey?”  I nod and his nose twitches.  His eyes are full
of mischief and arousal now.  They flash amber and I know that he knows.  He
growls.

“Okay.”  I
whisper.  Jackson drags me up the bed until my head is on the pillows.  He
pushes my thighs apart and sinks his face into me.  I moan as his tongue pushes
into me.  He’s tasting me and moaning against my skin.  I can’t stand it.  The
climax is circling my womb viciously the same as his tongue is circling my
clitoris.  He sucks it gently and I writhe.  I can’t help it because I’ve lost
control of my body and my mind.  I fly apart, like some wild thing, I’ve
grabbed his head, and I’m holding it there.  Jackson breaks free of my grip and
crawls up over me.  He thrusts into me and I arch nearly breaking myself in
two.  I want so much more of him and I scream his name.  He pounds into me now
and I love the way he makes me feel, so wanton, so free, and ready to fly apart
again.  A high-pitched keening cry leaves my lips uncontrolled and Jackson
roars his release.  A million white lights burst behind my eyelids and I’ve
wrapped my arms and legs around him, grinding against him, taking what I need
from him.  I feel Jackson bite me again and I don’t care that it hurts a
little.  Sometimes wolves bite during sex.  I realize then that I’ve bitten him
too but where he went for the mating muscle, I’ve bitten his pectoral.  I tend
the wound hoping the mark isn’t as terrible later as it seems right now.  I
didn’t even know that I did it.  Jeez, if sex gets better than this I don’t
know if he’ll live through it.  My heart is going to pound its way out of my
chest.  Jackson is just as winded.  His warm humid breath is warming my neck
and I caress his head.  My fingernails are lightly scratching his scalp.  I
untangle myself from him and he growls.  I don’t think he’s ready to let me go
yet.  I know that I don’t want him to leave me yet either.  I’m still
contracting around his shaft and he’s still twitching inside of me.  I leave a
trail of warm kisses over his shoulder and up the side of his neck.  “I love
you Jackson and I’m sorry that I disobeyed.”  I murmur.

“If your
disobedience turns out like this every time…I’m thinking that it’s not so bad
after all.”  I giggle.  “You…um…”

“Yes Jackson, your
discipline turned me on.  Do you think I’m sick?  I mean is that weird?”  He
was shaking his head.  “But do normal people like that?”

“Some do.  I’ve
never been with someone who likes it but I don’t mind if that’s what you need
Sweetheart.  I mean you can’t beat the results.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen
you glow like this and I know how I feel right now.”

“How?  It was good
wasn’t it?”  He smiled softly.

“The best.”
Jackson yawned and rolled off me and onto his back.  He took me with him and
pulled the quilt over us.  I couldn’t keep my eyes open if I tried right now.

Jackson wakes me
later.  I can tell it’s been a few hours because the sun has shifted around to
shine in the other windows at the end of the room.  I get dressed and wince at
my sore bottom but smile at the rest of my sore muscles.  We head out to the
main part of the house after getting dressed.  My dad and eight other men are
sitting in my living room drinking coffee, looking serious.  All eyes turn
toward me when I come into the room.

“Dad, what
gives?”  Kelly and Earl are sitting in the back of the room and it looks
serious.  “Kelly?”  She ducks her head and sniffles.  “What in the hell is
going on?”  Jackson puts his arm around me but stays quiet, I think he knows
what’s up already.  Damn it I hate being the dumbest one in the room and right
now, I am.

“We, the council,
have been discussing your actions and your positions as alphas of the East View
pack.  He closes his eyes and bites the inside of his cheek.  I swallow hard
but I can’t stop the growl.

Chapter 12

No way is my dad
going to tell Jackson and me that we have to go home, no way!  Kelly has her
face buried in her hands now and Earl won’t look at us.  This is bad, very bad.
The other council members are solemn and like statues except for the occasional
coffee sipping.  That’s my coffee they are sipping, coffee that I bought with
money I saved.  They are sipping my savings and they are going to kick me out
of the house that I just got?  I set my jaw and lift my chin.  “So, what did
you fine gentlemen come up with Dad?”

“It’s been said
that you attacked an alpha male.”  I nodded because there was no sense in
trying to avoid it.  He already knew that.  He was not my dad that I was
talking to; he had morphed into a council member.  “You nearly killed him and
created a situation where he could be killed.  Frank was an upstanding member
of our community, an alpha responsible for a pack of sixty.  That in turn
created a situation where another wolf, a wolf never meant to be the alpha took
over the Tide Water pack.  That created the situation in which that wolf’s pack
cast him out and that led him to East View to put a pregnant wolf in danger
with many elderly members as well.  You’re actions have created havoc Summer
Reynolds.  What do you have to say for yourself?”

“I say this,” I
snarled and Jackson squeezed my mating muscle calming me down.  “I say they
weren’t my actions that started all this but it was my actions that finished
it.  I say that the alpha of your pack started all this by selling off Kelly to
Frank in the first place.  You knew she was in danger there, we all told you.
You knew that he beat her and you knew that I wasn’t going to leave my sister unprotected
for long.  When she showed up in East View the second time with a black eye and
Frank looked at my alpha, my mate with the look of murder in his eyes after he’d
just beat up my sister of course I tried to rip his throat out.  If anyone else
did that to my sister and meant harm to my alpha, I would rip his throat out
too.  My mate and my siblings are more important to me than any alpha position.
I feel that it is every pack member’s job to protect the alpha, just as it is
his job to protect us.  I was just cleaning up the mess you made.”  Dad sucked
his teeth and rocked back on his heels.  The others were watching us with
raised eyebrows.

“Point made.”  Dad
nodded and I left out a pent up breath.  “Gentlemen?”  Dad looked at each of
them and they nodded.  What did that mean?  I glanced at Jackson and he
shrugged.  “Jackson.”  My dad was looking at him now.  “You told your mate, the
female alpha to stay behind.  She didn’t follow orders.  What do you say to
that?”

“I say that what
orders were given to my mate in confidence and in private are not up for
debate.  However, we have discussed it and Summer has been punished and
rewarded for her actions today.”  I bit down hard on my tongue to keep my mouth
shut.

“How was she punished?”
Dad asked seriously.  Oh,
crap
.  Do not tell him.

“I spanked her.
She admitted her error, swore on her honor that it won’t happen again, and
submitted to her alpha.”  Jackson never broke eye contact with my dad.  I’m
glad that no one was looking at me.  Jeez Jackson, shut up already.

“She was rewarded
why?  And how?”  Oh no, I’ll kill him if he says that here in front of
everyone.  I close my eyes and open them to find Kelly watching me with pink
cheeks.  I think all of my cheeks are probably the same color right now.

“She was rewarded
for saving her alpha’s life.  Christian had me on my back about to rip my
throat out and she risked her life to save me.  She saved the pack.  The how is
between us.”  I glanced up at him with my face on fire and sent up a silent
prayer of thanks that he didn’t spill.

“The council wants
to know the details.”  I stared hard at my dad.  He cocked an eyebrow at us.  I
swallowed hard.

“We mated again.”
Jackson pulled his tee shirt up and showed them the mark on his pectoral.  The
council nodded.  Dad looked at each of them who nodded again.  The littlest and
I suspect the oldest of the group winked wickedly at me.  I stifled a giggle.
He had to be the cutest fellow I’d ever seen.  I wanted to sit in his lap and
hug him like my grandpa.

“The council has
decided that everything that occurred was justified.  The council recognizes
your actions, all of them Summer as justified and accepts your apology and your
submission to Jackson as your alpha.  The council has decided that you may
remain as the alphas as the East View pack as long as the pack will have you.
Kelly may stay and may remain mated to Earl too.”  I make a face at that.  “You
weren’t authorized to make that call until your alpha position was confirmed.
Kelly didn’t understand that clause since her mate was already an alpha when
she mated him, but the union is acceptable to her former alpha and legal
guardian.”  Kelly was clapping and bouncing in her seat while Earl was trying
desperately to settle her.  He was nervous about the pregnancy.  I couldn’t
blame him because I was too.  Jackson was wrapping me in his arms and kissing
me now.  I think I’m still in shock but I let him.  My dad heads out to the
front porch followed by the council.  They file out, a long line of serious but
powerful old men.  I hear my dad speaking and go to the window.  Every member
of our pack is standing in the front yard.  When my dad finishes there is a
cheer and a round of applause.  Jackson pulls me out the door and they clap and
whoop at us.  Jackson steps to the head of the stairs and speaks to them about the
future, about getting down to business and about rebuilding the pack.  He tells
them that we are having a potluck picnic in two days to celebrate, another
round of applause.  Shirley comes out of the crowd as Jackson goes down the
steps to shake hands and to speak to individuals.  She comes up the steps and
wraps me in the warmest hug ever.

“I’m so proud of
you Summer!  You couldn’t have done better with a script.  Your dad is proud of
you too.  You and Jackson have really made an impression on the council and on
your father.  Most young wolves would’ve made run for it.  You two stood up for
the pack, for each other and up to danger.  You are two very courageous wolves,
congratulations my dear.”  I smile and let her hug me again.  Kelly grabs me
next and kisses my cheek.  Dad is the last hug of the afternoon.  He doesn’t
say anything he just holds me tightly and smiles down at me proudly.

Everything that I
have done or experienced in my life has led to this moment in time.  I’ve
learned two things.  Trust my heart and trust my instincts.  They got me this
far and this is a great place to be.  I look over at the sexiest man that ever
walked.  He smiles at me and gives me the look that says when this is over, I
am all his.  That’s all that I ever wanted to be, all his.
