Kevin shrugged and his face scrunched up a bit. “I don’t know. I mean, it’s hot as fuck to watch, but I’m not sure I’d ever be into it in real life.”

“Why not?” I pressed.

He groaned and took a gulp of his coffee, cursing when it burned his throat. “Man, are we really talking about this shit at breakfast? It’s too early, Davies.”

“Is there a right or wrong time?” I asked, barely able to believe I was the one instigating this conversation. Most of the time, I was the guy who’d avoid talking about sex at all costs, but this was different. Kevin had cracked open a window on my sheltered little life. “Besides, from what I’ve heard, there’s not much that embarrasses you. So spill it, why are you into watching two guys and a girl, but don’t think you’d actually try? Afraid you wouldn’t be able to keep up?”

Yes, I was taunting him. It wasn’t my usual MO, but it seemed to work. Kevin sat up straight and his mouth gaped open in disbelief. “Fuck no!” he shouted. Our teammates were used to his antics, so no one even gave us a second look. “If anything, I’d feel bad for the other dude when he couldn’t keep up. Man, I’m a fucking rockstar in the sack.”

“That’s good to know.” I smirked and sipped my water. There was definitely something more there, something he wasn’t saying. But now wasn’t the time to press him further. We were finally getting along and I wanted to keep it that way. “So is that why you wouldn’t have a threesome? Because you don’t want to make one of your buddies look bad?”

“Who says it’d be one of my friends?” Kevin retorted. “If I was going to do something like that, which I’m not, it’d have to be a stranger. I know that might sound stupid, but I think it’d be awkward doing it with someone I’d have to see on a regular basis. But again…Not. Going. To. Happen.”

“You keep saying that, yet you seem to have given it a lot of thought,” I teased. I couldn’t help myself. Now that we were talking about his choices in porn, I was loosening up a bit.

“Look, I might get off on watching shit like that, but when it comes right down to it, I’m a fan of the one-on-one time. Okay?” The waitress returned with his breakfast, putting a stop to our conversation. That was fine since I’d achieved my primary goal. I wasn’t sure Kevin and I would ever be best friends or anything, but at least I felt confident we could get through the second half of the season without killing one another.

About the Author

S
loan Johnson is
a big city girl trapped in a country girl’s life. While she longs for the hustle and bustle of New York City or Las Vegas, she hasn’t yet figured out how to sit on the deck with her morning coffee, watching the deer and wild turkeys in the fields while surrounded by concrete and glass.

When she was three, her parents received their first call from the principal asking them to pick her up from school. Apparently, if you aren’t enrolled, you can’t attend classes, even in Kindergarten. The next week, she was in preschool and started plotting her first story soon after.

Later in life, her parents needed to do something to help their socially awkward, uncoordinated child come out of her shell and figured there was no better place than a bar on Wednesday nights. It’s a good thing they did because this is where she found her love of reading and writing. Who needs socialization when you can sit alone in your bedroom with a good book?

Now, Sloan is a tattooed mom with a mohawk and two kids. She’s been kicked out of the PTA in two school districts and is no longer asked to help with fundraisers because she’s been known to lose herself with a good book and forget she has somewhere to be.
