Finally
, he nudged her legs open wider and slid into her. They
groaned in unison.

Wonderful,” she gasped.
She lifted her hips, urging him to fill her more. William pulled
back and entered in a firm thrust. Emily mewled.

You feel exquisite,
love.”

They rocked together like a ship in a
storm at sea. Passionate. Unbridled. Wild. Slowly, she climbed to
the peak of her own particular mountain. Her eyes widened. The moon
smiled down at her.

Bite me.”

William brushed her damp hair from her
face.

Bite me.”

She ground her hips against his pelvis
and dug her nails into his broad shoulders.

Do it.”

Her orgasm crashed over her as
William finally sank his teeth into her flesh. She
screamed.

E
mily smiled. Her body ached pleasurably. She ran her hands
over William’s wide back. He was heavy on top of her, but she
didn’t care. He glanced up at her. Concern filled his
eyes.

What’s wrong?”

He rolled over and looked down at her.
She followed his gaze to her shoulder. The mark of his teeth stood
starkly against her pale flesh. Emily touched the spot. She moaned
as newfound desire sparked its way to her womb. William cocked his
head. Emily sat up.

I feel
strange.”

William took her hand and peered into
her face.

As if I had eaten something…”
Her vision swam. She fainted.

Emily, Emily.”

She shook her head. A loud crack
startled her, yet she couldn’t seem to open her eyes and instead
simply shook her head again. Something soft touched her cheek. A
sharp pain speared her mouth and she groaned. As abruptly as it
started, it ended. She sat up, except—Her eyes snapped
open.

You’re beautiful.” William’s
voice echoed in her head. She glanced down at herself. She was no
longer human. She was an animal. A wolf.

Just project
your thoughts toward me, love
. I’ll receive them.”
“I’m a wolf.”

William chuckled. His wolf eyes
crinkled at the corner. He looked pleased. Gently, he nuzzled
her.

Yes, my love,
my mate.”
The pride in his voice was undeniable and Emily’s heart
soared.

The world is
different,

she observed. “I can hear more clearly, I can see more clearly, I
can smell more clearly.” She gazed at William. “You smell delicious
as a human but as wolf, I just want to eat you up.” She licked her
jowls. William laughed and wagged his tail. “Now, you know how I’ve
been feeling all these months.”

Emily chuckled. “Can we
run?”

As fast and as far as you
want,” he replied.

Excitedly,
she
set off
at a run. The wind caressed her fur intimately as her paws hit the
hard earth. She skirted over leaves, jumped across logs and ran
until she could hardly breathe. Running like an animal was like
dancing: effortless, and graceful. She felt powerful, and strong,
as if the world were finally set right. This feeling must be
freedom. The ability to run, to climb … to howl. She could run to
the mountains and howl to the moon. Abruptly, she stopped. She
glanced up at the white orb in the sky.

I understand why Taikei
and Alysan would sing to the moon.”

It’s truly
something.”

William sat
at her side and howled. She cocked her head, soaking in the melody.
After a few moments, she lifted her head and joined him. The sounds
mingled, creating a perfect harmony, a chorus. It was the cry of
love. The cry of two wolves
who had finally found each
other.

Her
hear
t beat
wild inside her chest, pumping blood. She was free. Free because of
William … his love had set her free. Now, better than ever she
understood the story he had told her earlier. A lone wolf was a
caged animal. It couldn’t run, it couldn’t howl, it remained
trapped inside its own solitude. A free wolf was a wolf that loved
and was loved in return. If she didn’t love William and he didn’t
love her, they’d have nothing. They’d be empty shells walking the
face of the earth with no hope.

They entered William’s secret tunnel a
little before the sun started to rise.

How do I
shift back?” she asked
.

Project your thoughts
toward your human person.”

She watched
as he shook himself. Her mouth watered at the sight of his human
body. Emily
closed her eyes and thought about being human, particularly
about kissing and touching William. She had to show him her love …
she had to make him see. The transition was
effortless.

A fast learner, my
love.”

She wrapped her arms around his
neck, and brought him down for a kiss. William smiled against her
lips.

All this passion!” He grinned.
“Did you not quote a certain author saying this was nothing more
than a tumult of the mind, and…”

Emily rolled
her eyes. “Pierre Choderlos de Laclos was wrong. This is a tempest
of passion.” She dragged her nails across William’s chest. She
looked into his eyes. “But it is also a tempest of
lov
e, and
even after the storm, this love will remain––for as a wise man once
said, love is an ever-fixed mark that looks on tempests and is
never shaken. And I love you, William.”

Would she
ever tire of saying it? She giggled as William picked her up and
kissed her. She knew she wouldn’t, for this was no mere tempest of
passion

this was love.
