‘Well you’ll have to.’ She giggled.

‘I know, but I’m never letting go of you. You’re my everything.’ He’d become dependent on her. She was the only one who knew his secret and had joined him in it.

‘Okay. Let’s go.’ He put her down

They started downstairs. For a second she popped into the kitchen to get a drink of vodka. It warmed her throat immediately and she was ready to this.

They finally left the house and Kevin drove them to where the two men had been captured.

****

The car finally stopped outside the abandon warehouse.

‘We should make this our killing spot,’ she joked.

‘I already do. This is where I bring most of my victims. It’s out of the way and no one ever comes her in the middle of the night.’

‘True. Well that’s sorted then.’ She seemed satisfied.

Kevin got out and walked to the boot to retrieve the black bag that contained the things Ferguson used to kill.

‘Sir,’ he opened the door and Ferguson got out. He held out his hand, Freya took it and he helped her out of the car.

‘Wait here Kevin.’

‘Yes sir.’

‘Before we go in. I want to know what weapon you will use. I will just strangle him with rope. You could try to do the same.’

‘I could, but if that’s not working, I will just stab him.’

‘Okay. Do we know which him?’

‘Let me go inside and I will decide.’

He nodded. The couple entered the warehouse and the two men looked up, the dim portable light making it hard for them to see properly. But the closer they got, the men soon noticed who was standing in front of them.

‘Freya,’ said Blake.

‘I’m surprised you even know my name.’

‘I would never forget…oh no, I know why we’re here. It’s about the thing we did to you. Isn’t it?’

‘Rape, you mean rape.’

He was silent. Trevor didn’t seem to show any remorse whatsoever. This made it harder for her. She wanted to punch him in the face. Make it hurt in a way, the same way he’d made her hurt. Without warning she slapped him.

‘Is that all you’ve got,’ said Trevor. ‘You were always a weak bitch.’

She slapped him again. He just raised his head and smiled. It hadn’t affected him in the slightest.

‘He’s only trying to taunt you, but don’t worry honey, his fate is sealed.’ Ferguson dropped the bag.

‘Please, whatever you’re going to do, please don’t do it. I’m so sorry for hurting you. I really am. I was young and stupid,’ said Blake.

‘And that makes it alright?’

‘No it doesn’t. It doesn’t excuse my behaviour, but there’s got to be a better way.’

‘The way I see it, there isn’t. when I was begging and pleading none of you stopped. None of you realised that you were hurting me.’

‘I really am sorry.’

‘That’s fine, but I’m still going to kill you.’

‘You won’t get away with it.’

‘That may be true, but at least I got rid of you, and you and the rest of the animals that rapped me.’

‘Please.’

‘Shut the fuck up,’ said Trevor. ‘Why don’t you just get on with it already. I’m tired of waiting.’

This time she didn’t respond to him, instead she walked over to the bag and pulled out a rope. Ferguson smiled like a proud father. He too took a rope and wrapped it around his hands.

‘You ready to choose honey?’

‘Him. I’m going to choke every last breath out of him.’

‘Sounds good to me. You will certainly enjoy it.’

‘What is the matter with the pair of you. You’re both sick!’ Blake was mortified.

‘You were sick the day you thought it was okay to rape me you moron!’

‘That maybe so, but I’m not a killer.’

‘You’re just as bad you might as well be one. You killed my innocence, you killed my trust. You killed everything that was good in my life. So you’re a killer!’

Blake shook as she walked behind them. She stood behind Trevor.

‘So I get the cry baby.’ Ferguson joked.

‘Yes you do.’ She smiled.

‘Don’t do this please. What kind of a man are you?’

‘The kind who will do anything to protect the love of my life. You hurt her and therefore you should go.’

‘That’s not how things are done.’

‘Right, enough talking.’ Ferguson wrapped the rope around Blake’s throat. He squirmed and pleaded for his life over and over again. Ferguson began to tell Freya how to wrap the rope around Trevor’s neck, and how hard to pull. She did that with ease, as if she’d been doing it for a long time.

‘You’re a natural.’ He smiled.

Trevor was dead still, while Blake was not so good at accepting his fate. Soon Trevor began to choke and gasp for air. He wanted out. It felt as though his head would explode. Freya felt the tremor in her hand, she felt his body wriggle beneath her. There was a sense of power, a sense of bring herself back to life as she took a life. As he struggled, the more elated she became. She loved hearing him chock and wriggle. Blake was almost dead, but Trevor suffered through it all. There were a few more last kicks and then it was finally peaceful. She let go breathing heavily as if she’d just run a race. She looked up to the ceiling as the rush of adrenaline hit her and the high took her. It was the best feeling in the world.

‘Did you enjoy that?’ he asked noticing the way she smiled up at the ceiling.

‘I loved it! I fucking loved it!’ She giggled.

‘I can tell. Come here killer.’ He pulled her into him and gave her a long kiss.

‘I loved it,’ she said pulling away. ‘I can’t wait until the next one.’

‘You’ll have to be a little patient with that. My assistant hasn’t found them yet.’

‘I understand. I will wait.’

‘I know you will darling.’ He kissed her forehead and gave her a tight squeeze at the same time. It was nice just having her with him.

‘Yes I will. Just want to do it soon. But there is one special someone I want to kill. Save him for the last.’

‘You mean the man who spiked your drink and led you to the group.’

‘Yes him. Thomas! He was supposed to be my friend. I wonder what happened to him.’

‘Don’t worry. I will find him. No one disappears without leaving some trace. He might be closer than you think.’

She nodded and lay her head into his chest a moment. The vans pulled up and the cleaning crew arrived.

‘I guess we better go,’ he said.

She nodded as he led her out of the warehouse and back into the car.

‘I love you,’ she said.

‘I know you do. I love you too.’ He took her hand in his. Their killings brought them closer and closer together.

Chapter Thirteen

‘So what do we know about Lewis Carr.’ Detective Murphy began to place points on a white board.

Lewis Carr

Age:37

Blonde

Five-foot ten

Married to Louise Carr

Has two children under the age of five.

‘He lives for his family. Well that’s what it seems like,’ detective Murphy spoke to Roy while sorting it out in his head.

He went to Leeds Met

‘His social life… goes out once in a while to a bar with mates Jon and Lawrence. We know he loves to spend time with his family. There doesn’t seem to be any record of him causing trouble. He doesn’t even have a speeding ticket. He’s been married twelve years, no affairs.’

‘You still think he’s done something, don’t you?’ said Roy.

‘Well, this can’t be a random killing. They never are.’

‘But to think it’s the same person whose been killing the so called scum is grasping for straws.’

‘Do you have a better idea? ‘

‘We don’t even know if he’s dead.’

‘And that’s what all of them have in common. We can’t find the bodies, and yet they’ve been missing for months. People don’t just disappear.’

‘Don’t you think it’s a bit too early to conclude this. It hasn’t been long since Lewis’s disappearance.’

‘That maybe so, but my gut tells me that they’re all connected.’

‘If you say so.’

‘Anything on the footage on the ball and the car dealership?’

‘Still working on it.’

‘How about I have a look, I might see something.’

Roy wasn’t really looking close enough because his mind was exhausted on this case. It needed a fresh pair of eyes. He didn’t think the murders were connected and this made him less likely to spot anything that was obviously right in front of him. The detective however wanted desperately to solve this case. He was determined to use every angle hoping it would bring up something. He wasn’t about to throw in the towel.

Just as he was about to take a look his phone rang.

‘I think you might want to take this call,’ said the woman on the other end.

‘Ok, put it through.’ He looked up at Roy and Roy mouthed, ‘What?’ The detective shrugged his shoulders and waited. A woman came on the other end of the line and told him everything he needed to know.

‘Hmmm,’ he said as he put the phone down.

‘What is it?’

‘We’re off to see a Mrs Willows. It seems her husband hasn’t come home yet.’ He felt as though he was getting closer to closing this case, he could feel it.

‘I see. It does sound odd. Let me guess, he has no criminal record.’

‘Don’t know yet. We’ll soon find out. Let’s get over there and see what we can find out.’

‘Before you go, take a look at this.’

Murphy moved across to Roy’s desk and looked at the computer. ‘What am I looking at?’

‘See that man standing in the crowd of people. I can’t really make out his face, but he seems to have the same build as the man walking into the car dealership. On the night Lewis went missing, he’d gone to see Mr Banks. Mr Banks was at the same ball Ronald was at when he died. That’s if it’s him.’

‘Good spot. Let’s get that photo clearer.’

Roy did a few things on the computer that brought the photo closer, he then hovered over the face and made the image clearer.

‘Bingo,’ said Murphy. ‘I think he’s our connection. I’m not sure how, but I’m sure he knows something.’

‘What if he’s the killer?’

‘I doubt it. Look at him. This man couldn’t kill a fly.’ It was true. Ferguson’s image was nothing of a killer and Murphy knew that all killers came in different guises, but he just didn’t have that feeling about Ferguson. Murphy was way off his gut, the very man he was looking at was a cold blooded murderer. ‘I think he’s connected somehow, not sure yet. Why don’t we create a profile? That’s when we get back of course.’

‘Sure.’ Roy had a different thought. The man in the suit seemed like the kind of man who would do such a thing and hide behind his expensive suit.

The two men left the building and headed for the Willows home.

****

Freya turned and looked at Ferguson fast asleep. She watched as his chest rose and fell. She smiled. She was so in love with the gorgeous man lying next to her. It felt like a miracle that he’d found her. He’d literally saved her life just like he promised he would. The killing had made her less and less needy for alcohol and drugs. She still took them from time to time, but it wasn’t as bad. Her adrenaline rush came from the kills. It made her feel powerful and it was as if she was finally in control of her life. It may have seemed a terrible thing to people looking from the outside in, but with her, she knew she was getting better.

‘Hey,’ she poked his shoulder so that he would wake up. ‘Hey handsome.’ She pushed a little harder and giggled. ‘Wakey, wakey.’ She desperately wanted him to wake up.

Slowly his eyes opened, he turned his head to look at her and smiled. ‘Hey.’

‘I wanted you to wake up.’

‘I can tell. I’m awake now. What’s troubling you?’

‘Nothing, I just…’ She lay into his chest. ‘I just wanted to let you know that I love you so much. Thank you for helping me and loving me. Thank you for finding those horrible men and dealing with it.’

‘You’re very welcome. I love you. I will do anything for you.’ He rubbed her shoulder.

‘I know you would.’ She smiled and snuggled deeper into him. ‘I just wonder if you’ll ever find Thomas and Marvin. They seem to have disappeared. Thomas couldn’t look me in the eye after the incident. He acted as if he’d done nothing wrong. Now that I think of it, I should’ve told someone. Why was I so stupid?’

‘You were not stupid. You were scared. A terrible thing happened to you and everyone copes differently when terrible things happen to them. But don’t worry. I will find those bastards. As long as they have a heartbeat, the will be somewhere in this world. I have the resources to go beyond the borders of this country if I have to.’

She smiled.

‘I will find them, I promise.’

‘I believe you.’

‘No one will ever hurt you again.’
