This series of books, taking the residents of Port Provident through their recovery from Hurricane Hope, is special to me. In 2008, I lived in Galveston, Texas when Hurricane Ike rolled ashore, and I know many of the experiences and milestones that the residents of Port Provident are going through because I went through them myself.

One thing I learned and have since tried to bring to my stories is the universal truth that we won't all go through a hurricane, but everyone experiences storms in their lives. It's how we recover from them and learn the lessons that shape us and the direction we go for the future.

On September 13, the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Ike, I'll be releasing
Storm Surge
, my memoir of the life lessons I learned from Hurricane Ike. It will give you the chance to see the moments in my life that shaped the stories in the
Port Provident: Hurricane Hope
series—a real look at how art imitates life. I hope you'll pick up a copy.

In October, the

The Grace Space is modeled on a real community event, organized by First Baptist Church of Galveston, Texas, in the wake of 2008’s Hurricane Ike. The medical clinic was staffed with students, residents and doctors from the University of Texas Medical Branch and members of the church lovingly laid donations out on water-damaged pews so that members of the Galveston community could come take what they needed to begin rebuilding their lives.

To the members of First Baptist Church of Galveston who served the Galveston community with a tireless heart and the churches like Park Cities Baptist of Dallas, Texas, who stood behind Galveston and sent people to be the hands and hearts of Jesus on the ground for months after the storm, this book is for you. About the Author

The writing bug bit Kristen Ethridge around the time she first held a pencil. A 2012 Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Award Finalist, Kristen was offered her first contract to Harlequin's Love Inspired line through their So You Think You Can Write contest that same year.

Kristen writes contemporary inspirational romance filled with love, laughter, and happily ever after and firmly believes that the best happily ever after is the story of God's love. Although she has fun creating characters, Kristen's favorite people are her family. She lives in Texas with her husband, children and a self-important poodle.
