Each motion had been as if he branded himself into her. There was no doubt who was behind her.

Gina raised her hips in invitation and Fergus growled. “That’s my lass. Mine.”

Leaning over her back to kiss her neck, Fergus quickened his pace. His arms framed her body, causing his scent to fill her nose.

She was just thinking how difficult a position it had to be for him when Fergus moved even faster and Gina lost all thought. Each stroke of his dick took her higher. Then one of his hands found her clit and she cried out. “Fergus.”

“Aye. Say it again.”

Through her pleasure haze, Gina swore she heard longing in his voice. But she quickly pushed it aside. “Fergus.”

He pinched her bundle of nerves, and spots danced before her eyes. The combination of his cock hitting her g-spot and the increased pressure on her clit sent her over the edge. She screamed.

As she spasmed, Fergus stilled and roared out. Unlike any time she’d had sex before, she felt the heat of his semen inside of her. She barely registered it before she spiraled into one orgasm after another.

Her arms gave out, but a pair of strong, warm ones caught her. As Fergus held her against his chest, she lost all cohesive thought and simply embraced the pleasure.

~~~
Even though sweat dripped down Fergus’s back, he wasn’t tired. He held Gina against his chest as she came down from her high. And more than that, her reaction to his orgasm told him what he needed to know.
Gina MacDonald was his true mate.
Her pregnancy was preventing the mate-claim frenzy, but his dragon still roared inside of his head.
She is ours. I told you. We must mate her and protect her.
We can discuss it later. Right now, I won’t burden her with this news.
His beast hissed.
It’s not a burden. It is a gift.
In this, I won’t capitulate to you.
Fergus tossed his dragon into a mental maze and nearly sighed at the silence.
Taking advantage of his beast’s absence, Fergus nuzzled Gina’s neck and inhaled deeply. He would never get enough of her scent of woman and something faintly floral.
After all this time, he’d finally found his female. However, that wasn’t the hardest part. No, he needed to find a way for both her and her son to stay.
Or, rather, for both her and their son to stay.
There was no bloody way Fergus would allow that Travis bastard to take the child away from Gina. A female giving a dragonman her body was something to be relished, not a game. Just the thought of all of the potential females Travis could still use and toss away made his blood boil.
Gina’s voice interrupted his thoughts. “Fergus, what’s wrong? You tensed up.”
He changed their position so that Fergus sat on the bed with Gina in his lap. He would discuss dealing with Travis later. For the moment, he wanted Gina at peace.
As soon as she met his gaze, he replied, “It can wait till morning.” He leaned forward and kissed her gently. “For now, I want to make sure you eat properly and then we can go to bed.”
Amusement danced in her eyes. “Bed, huh?”
He lightly slapped her thigh. “Yes, actual bed. It’s been a long day and you need some rest.”
“So, the cock comes out and you switch to Guardian mode. Good to know.”
He growled. “Gina.”
She grinned and his irritation evaporated. “We’re going to have to work on lightening you up a little. After meeting your brother, I know for sure you’ve been teased before.”
“Don’t mention my brother when you’re naked.”
She moved a little toward him and placed her hands on his chest. “I knew you weren’t immune to the possessive streak that all dragon-shifters seem to have.”
“Would you want me to mention your sister as I fondled your breast?”
She scrunched her nose. “That’s just gross.”
He grunted. “Then you understand.”
“Fine, I won’t mention he-who-must-not-be-named.” She plucked at his shirt. “But do we really need to get out of bed just yet?”
She looked back up at him. The longing in her eyes shot straight to his heart. Kissing her again, he laid his forehead on hers. “If you’re afraid I’m not going to want you again, then you’re sadly mistaken, lass. If you were fed and rested, I would be taking you until your voice was hoarse.”
“Fergus.”
He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. “It’s true.” He traced her cheek with his finger. “But if you finish eating, then I might be persuaded to help you shower, if you like.”
Teasing returned to her eyes. “Maybe I want to help you in the shower. After all, you’ve seen me naked but you’re still wearing most of your clothes.”
Fergus winked. “I need to keep up the anticipation, lass. Because once you see these muscles of mine again, I’ll be wiping drool off your chin.”
Gina snorted. “Good to see your humor is back.”
“Oh, I’m not joking. I see lots of drool on your chin in the future.”
As soon as he said it, Fergus realized what it sounded like. He debated apologizing when Gina’s husky voice filled his ear, “I think we’ll be seeing more of my wetness on your chin long before I have drool on mine.”
From inside his mental maze, his beast roared in approval. Gina MacDonald was comfortable enough in his presence to tease about him going down on her.
In response, Fergus took her lips in a rough kiss and slid his tongue into her mouth. He stroked a few times as he lightly tugged her hair. When he finally broke it, Gina was panting. He put a finger under her chin and closed her gaping mouth. “Watch it, lass, or you may yet have drool on your chin.”
Determination flashed in her eyes. “You might’ve won this point, but the next one is mine.”
“Oh, aye? So we’re going to keep score?”
Gina pulled away and closed her expression.
Fuck.
Keeping score must’ve reminded her of Travis and his bloody ten females.
“Gina, look at me.” She met his eyes again and he cupped her cheek. “You are not a point or prize to me. Don’t ever think that.” She nodded, but remained quiet so he continued, “Let’s heat up your supper and you can tell me all about your sister. We’ll both be dressed, so it shouldn’t be ‘gross’.”
She smiled at his poor imitation of her voice. “We’re going to have to work on your mimicry skills, Fergus. I’m not a squeaky mouse.”
“Aye, we can. After you have some food and tell me about your sister. I bet she has a ridiculous American name like Brittany or Taylor.”
Gina raised an eyebrow. “Her name is Kaylee, actually. And it’s not like you’re one to talk. Fergus sounds like an old man’s name to an American.”
“Oh, aye?” Fergus leaned down to Gina’s ear and nibbled her earlobe before he added, “Well, this old man, has already made you scream twice. What do you say to that?”
“I say that maybe you’re using a little blue pill.”
He put on a mock hurt expression. “I may not be twenty-two like you, but this twenty-nine-year-old has a few more years left in him before he needs any sort of pill.” He lightly patted her hip. “But in all truth, if I’m with you, Gina, I’ll never need one.” Gina blushed and he chuckled. “Right, then. Let’s put our little innuendoes to the side and put on some clothes.”
“What, like the ones you’ve sliced to bits?”
Fergus smiled slowly. “I won’t apologize for that.”
Gina rolled her eyes. “Men.”
He kissed her cheek. “We’ll find you something. Even pregnant, you should fit into one of my shirts.”
“It’s January in Sutherland. I’m going to need more than a t-shirt.”
“Aye, and what do you have in mind?”
She cupped his cheek and whispered, “I was thinking you could be my blanket.”
“Good answer, lass. Good answer.”
As he kissed her slowly this time, both man and beast settled in contentment. He was close to having what he’d always dreamed of having—a mate and family to call his own.
Chapter Eleven
The next morning, Gina held a cup of hot tea between her hands and simply watched the yummy broad back of her dragonman as he cooked breakfast for her.
Even though she’d pinched herself a few times already, Gina kept thinking it was all a dream.
Fergus was everything she’d never thought she’d have. True, she hadn’t known him long, but she was at ease with the Scot. Talking, cuddling, even teasing came naturally to her when she was with Fergus. She’d never felt this way in her life with anyone, not even the asshole dragonman who’d charmed her back in the States.
Sipping her tea, she hoped she could stay with Clan Lochguard. Fergus mentioning the word “mate” had scared her the day before, but with time, she might even warm up to the idea. She desperately wanted to trust him, but was honest enough with herself to know it was too soon to trust him without question.
Fergus turned around with a grin. He hadn’t bothered to brush his auburn hair and it stood up every which way. Combined with his morning whiskers, he was so handsome it was almost painful to look at him.
Her dragonman placed a plate in front of her with flair. “I think I finally managed pancakes for you.”
Looking down, Gina smiled. “The hotdog-bun shape is pretty original.”
He handed her a fork. “The appearance doesn’t matter. Try them.”
Fergus had spent the last twenty minutes trying to make pancakes. The first batch had tasted like salty bread and Gina had barely kept it down.
Still, Fergus motioned with his hand and she cut a piece.
Okay, son, work with me. Even if it tastes bad, let’s not hurt Fergus’s feelings and throw up.
With a deep breath, Gina placed the bite between her lips.
The light, fluffy consistency melted in her mouth and she sighed. “Now that’s a pancake.”
He leaned down and kissed her cheek. “Then let me make you some more.”
Before he could turn away, she grabbed his wrist. “Not until you try some.” She cut off a piece with her fork, dabbed it in some of the extra syrup, and held it out. Never breaking eye contact, Fergus leaned down and took the fork between his lips and slowly slid the pancake from the utensil. As he chewed, she noticed some syrup on his full bottom lip.
Damn.
“How do you make eating pancakes sexy?” Since his mouth was still full, Fergus waggled his eyebrows. Gina laughed. “Lean close for a second.”
As soon as Fergus’s head was close enough, she slowly licked the syrup from his lip. His pupils flashed to slits before he swallowed. “Aye, I think you might have some syrup left on your lip too.” He licked the corner of her mouth before nipping her bottom lip. “You really are messy. I see some more.”
She opened her mouth to reply, but Fergus cut her off with a kiss. As he devoured her mouth, she forgot about everything but the sweet taste of Fergus and pancake.
He finally pulled away. She shivered at the heat in his eyes. “Don’t look at me like that or I’ll never find out about your surprise.”
He caressed her cheek. “Maybe more of me is your surprise.”
“Fergus.”
He chuckled. “I guess I should give you a break after last night. That was a fairly long shower after supper.”
The memory of Fergus lightly brushing her breasts with a warm, soapy cloth came rushing back. He’d cleaned every inch of her body thoroughly. Especially as she’d stood over him as he licked between her thighs until she’d screamed.
Clearing her throat, Gina tried to put on a stern expression but failed. “I have to meet Arabella after lunch and you promised we’d be done by then. I somehow doubt that will happen if we take another shower or anything else that involves both of us naked.”
Fergus’s pupils remained slits for a few seconds before he sighed. “My dragon is pouting now. You’ll have to make it up to him later.”
She shook her head. “I’m not so sure giving in to a tantrum is the best idea.”
He brushed her cheek with the back of his fingers. “Finally, I have a female on my side. Together, we may yet tame my beast.”
“So? What’s this surprise?”
“Tenacious one, aren’t you?” She raised an eyebrow and he sighed. “All right, then. Finish your breakfast and we’ll get ready.” He placed a hand on her belly. “If the wee one cooperates, that is. Is our son giving you trouble?”
Fergus had called her boy their son several times, and each time it brought tears to her eyes. Not wanting to cry, she rubbed her eyes. “He wasn’t a fan of the first batch of pancakes, but everything should be good. My stubbornness alone should keep him in line. I want to find out my surprise.”
Fergus chuckled. “If stubbornness solved everything, then my family would be superheroes saving the world.”
“Speaking of your family, maybe we can see them again soon. I probably got off on the wrong foot with you mother by sneaking out like I did.”
The corner of his mouth ticked up. “If anything, my mum will be amused. She may frown or scold, but deep down, she loves when people take initiative. Even if it’s to avoid her.”
Gina tilted her head. “I’m really starting to wonder about your family.”
He twirled a strand of her hair. “When you’re ready, we’ll see them again, but not before. I’m sure you’ll grow to love them soon. Even Arabella couldn’t resist the MacKenzie brood’s charm.”
She took and squeezed his hand. “They mean a lot to you, which means I need to get to know them, too. Besides, I’m sure your mom has some interesting stories to tell. And Holly keeps sending me text messages asking if I’m okay. Maybe seeing me out and about will ease her nerves.”
He rubbed her stomach in slow circles. “You may be young, but you’ve become wise.”
She placed her hand on the side of her belly. “Sometimes life forces us to grow up quicker than we may like.”
He met her gaze. “I’m sorry for the circumstances that forced it, but I can’t be sorry because it brought you to me.”
She smiled. “That is pretty cheesy.” Fergus opened his mouth, but she beat him to it. “But I’m glad, too.”
After kissing the corner of her mouth, he murmured, “Now that’s settled, eat your breakfast. Or I may have to feed you myself.”
She pointed her fork at him. “Right, because you’re going to tie up a pregnant lady and force her to eat.”
He looked to her pancake and back to her face. “Don’t tempt me, lass. Because I may just do it.”
