“And our own children?”
“One day.”
He nodded. “When we’ve made this place better for them. And when you’re in Hale’s position, behind a desk. I’ll not have you clinging to ropes while you’re pregnant. The caricatures would be—”
Her burst of laughter cut him off until he kissed her again.
And when he lifted his head, he promised, “We’ll do this, then. You can hope for this, Mina. The Horde tore into us, I burnt it down, but we’ll build it into something better. I swear to you.”
Tears filling her eyes, she nodded. “We’ll do it, then.”
“And whenever we need to leave it behind, I’ll take you anywhere you want to go.”
He pressed his lips to hers to seal the vow, but it wouldn’t be difficult to keep. He’d just have to take her in his arms, and Mina would be exactly where she wanted to be.
