The
streets were filled with a torchlight procession of people laughing and
dancing. The Great Hall was filled with tables upon tables of food and dance
cards were being handed out to every young unmarried woman while the single men
vied for their attentions.

“For
you, miss,” a fine young man with a fancy grey suit and clean shaven face
placed a cream-colored card in Cadence’s hands. ‘Order of Dancing’ was written
on one side and ‘Dances’ was written on the other with a slew of named dances
listed followed by a line for a potential suitor’s name. Two Step, Waltz, Two
Step, Two Step, Langers—

A
small group of young men surrounded Cadence. She smiled, then scanned the room,
searching for Levi. He was the only person she wanted to fill her card.

“May
I reserve a dance, ma’am?” One of the young men in a faded blue button down
stepped forward.

“I’m
afraid all of the lady’s dances are spoken for, gentlemen,” Levi said, picking
her up and twirling her about. He set her down, pulling her tightly into his
chest as they moved around the dance floor.

Cadence
barely noticed that anyone else was there as she stared up into Levi’s eyes.

“It’s
about time you asked me to dance,” she said, a smile spread wide across her
face. She was impressed that he was able to move so gracefully—especially for a
man of his size. “You are just full of surprises.”

“And
do you like surprises?” he asked.

“Yes,”
she responded.

“Then
I will keep surprising you for the rest of my days.” He stopped and pulled her into
his arms. “I love you, Cade Walker soon-to-be Redbourne.”

“I
love you,” she said. “But, you can call me Cadie.”

the Author

KELLI ANN MORGAN recognized a passion for writing at a
very young age.  Since that time, she has devoted herself to creativity of
all sorts—moonlighting as a cover designer, photographer, jewelry designer,
motivational speaker, and more.

Kelli Ann is a long-time member of the Romance Writers of
America and was president of her local chapter in 2009. Her love of and talent
for writing have opened many doors for her and she continues to look for new
and exciting opportunities and calls to adventure. She feels very blessed to
have a talented husband and son who inspire her on a consistent basis.

Her novels are on the sensual side of PG—without graphic
love scenes. Great romance novels are those that make you feel the spectrum of
emotion, that leave you wanting more, and it is her hope that every time you
crack open one of her romance stories, that you walk away inspired, uplifted,
and with a love of romance.
