Enzo interrupted her - there was something on the news that caught his attention.

“Wait, wait… Hold on a second, please.” He said as he raised the volume.

The reporter on TV was outdoors, in a street that Enzo recognized. She was saying that five men had been found dead earlier that morning, and they had been identified as the bodyguards of the leader of the powerful crime syndicate, The Famiglia. She kept on going, saying that they were wondering if their leader had been murdered as well but so far, his body was missing.

Enzo felt his heart racing - they were talking about his father on TV!

“Wow…” Victoria said. “The infamous Famiglia without its leader… That could be the end, don’t you think? I’ve heard so much about them… They’re so big and powerful. There was a time, I even wondered if they really existed - they were like urban legends.”

She paused and looked at Enzo, looking for his approval. “My dad was so worried for me when I was a teen… You know what he used to say?”

Enzo shook his head without saying a word.

“He used to say that he’d rather see me dead than to see me involved with these people… And I think he was right!”

Chapter 10

Enzo felt a stone in his stomach and a thousand needles in his heart. Vicky
’s words felt like a razor blade chopping his heart in pieces. If only she knew what he’d been through to keep her safe!

Vicky continued. “Shane told me that the government keeps a very close eye on them now, since their business has expanded dangerously. It’s almost out of control. Apparently, they represent a very serious threat for the economy and have gained a lot of political influence. Plus, they encourage young people to make easy money instead of studying and helping their community… What a shame!”

Enzo quickly turned off the monitor - it was enough. He couldn’t handle it anymore.

“Excuse me…” He said as he stood up. Without waiting for Victoria to say anything, he quickly walked to the restrooms. But Vicky followed him and got inside with him.

She leaned her back against the door, shaking her head. “Enzo, I know you’re not okay. No need to pretend with me… Tell me what’s going on. I hate to see you like this, let me help you…”

Enzo was terribly confused and took his head in his hands. His chest and his throat felt incredibly tight - he wanted to cry but the tears wouldn’t come out.

Victoria approached him and gently touched his arm. “Enzo… You can tell me. What’s wrong? It’s about work?”

Without a word, Enzo shook his head and sat on the floor.

She bent her knees to see his face and gently insisted. “Come on, what are you doing? Talk to me!”

Enzo closed his eyes and tried to calm down. Vicky was trying to help him - he couldn’t keep acting like she wasn’t even there. “Sorry, Vicky. Like I told you, I had an emergency. I can’t tell you… sorry. It’s very personal… I still don’t know how to deal with it actually…”

To his surprise, Victoria caressed his cheek and rubbed her thumb against his skin. Enzo felt the blood pumping in his veins like crazy - his heart was about to explode! He missed her touch so much.

Despite her business woman appearance, deep inside, she was still the sweet and gentle girl he used to know. In ten years, she’d changed a lot and become someone. But the girl he used to love was still there, behind that corporate mask.

“Shhh…” She said. “You don’t have to tell me everything if you’re not ready. But… I know you need to talk. I can see it… I know you, Lorenzo…”

Enzo looked up and stared at her beautiful eyes. She hadn’t forgotten!

Indeed, his real name was actually Lorenzo, but he had changed it to confuse potential enemies of his dad. He’d started introducing himself as Enzo at the age of 13, when he was old enough to realize he could suffer the consequences of his father’s actions.

All his friends and people he knew called him Enzo. Victoria was the only one who kept calling him Lorenzo, but only during their most intimate moments.

He couldn’t believe his ears. “What did you call me?”

Victoria blushed and bit her lower lip. “I know it’s been a long time… It feels strange to me too... I don’t know why I called you like that… I guess it’s an old habit…”

Enzo chuckled. He could read her like an opened book - she was still the same. The way she bit her lips when she was shy, the way she avoided his eyes when she wanted to grab his attention and the way she played with her hair when she wanted to be kissed - nothing had changed.

He knew exactly what she wanted.

Enzo got up on his feet and dusted his pants. He kept looking at her and she held his gaze, slightly smiling. Slowly, he started to forget about everything. The world had stopped around them and he felt he was sinking into her eyes. She still had that same power over him - she could make all his problems disappear with a smile.

He raised his hand and instinctively caressed her lips. She didn’t react but he could hear her breathe more rapidly. “What are you doing?” She said, now avoiding his eyes.

She gently pushed his chest away in a weak attempt to stop him, but he grabbed her wrists and opened her arms around him.

His body was now close to her, and he could smell the scent of her, which triggered all kinds of wild memories. His face was a few inches away from her, and he could feel the warmth of her breath.

He leaned forward and whispered. “I missed you.”

She blushed and looked down, unable to resist him. “You already told me in my office…”

He grabbed her hips and got even closer to her. “I’m so lonely without you, Vicky…”

She chuckled, but didn’t push him away. “I can’t believe that… I can’t believe there’s nobody in your life. When I look at you now, you don’t seem like someone who struggles to meet women.”

He frowned. “I mean it…”

She shook her head. “It was your choice, Enzo… You left me. I’m pretty sure you had plenty of time to forget.”

Without a word, Enzo got closer and closer, until their bodies met. She was warm and generous, a feeling that was both reassuring and exciting for him. He felt so strong when she was around. In spite of the years, having her in his arms was still one of the best feelings in the world.

Slowly, Enzo felt his insides melt and the bulge in his pants grew bigger and bigger. She still had a lot of power over him. The chemistry between them was still as vivid as the first day - time hadn’t eroded his passion for her.

He suddenly felt the urge to crush his mouth into hers and feel her wet lips. He wanted to know if she could still drive him crazy with one simple kiss, like she used to.

Victoria was panting, his lips almost brushing hers. “Please, Enzo… Don’t do that. I’ve worked so hard to forget you… I have someone now…”

Enzo shook his head - he was dying to cross the line and let his instincts take over. “I don’t care about your man. I eat guys like him for breakfast. I really need you…”

Victoria’s lips were trembling. “You just… you just need me now… until you decide to disappear again. I didn’t hear from you for ten years, Enzo. I didn’t know if you were mad at me, or tired of me… or if… you had found somebody else…”

Enzo took her face in his hands and caressed her cheeks. “Hell, no! Vicky, no! Never…”

Tears started to roll on her face. “How do you want me to believe you? You’re such a selfish person. You don’t care what other people think or feel. Don’t… Don’t play with me, Enzo. You have no right to play with me like that and…”

Enzo couldn’t hold it any longer. Before she could finish her sentence, he crushed his lips on hers and pushed her against the wall. There, he kissed her passionately, exploring her mouth with his tongue as if it was the first time, his hands running through her hair.

Victoria was caught completely by surprise, but she didn’t fight back. “Mmmm… Enzo…”

The way she moaned turned him on even more and Enzo pressed his hard length against her stomach. The intense desire he had for her was still there, pure and intact. It was overwhelming and exhilarating at the same time.

Enzo felt that he was losing himself, a feeling he hadn’t experienced for many, many years. She was definitely the only one who could make him feel so horny and passionate.

He could tell she was surprised and confused, but clearly, she didn’t mind being kissed. Enzo kept going and felt his arousal getting more intense - his rock hard pole was pulsating in his underwear.

“Oh my God, Enzo…” She gasped. “What… What are you doing? Are you crazy? What if someone comes in?”

He quickly pulled away and grinned. The only thing she was worried about was being caught – the kiss wasn’t a problem apparently. He stared at her in silence, feeling incredibly powerful. “Everybody’s busy watching the news…”

“Enzo, this… this is wrong… We have to stop… Now…” She stuttered, without trying to escape his arms.

“If you don’t want it, all you have to do is stop…” Enzo whispered in her ear, sending shivers down her spine. He clearly felt her body tighten and started licking her neck.

Victoria closed her eyes and clenched her fingers, grabbing his pecs. “Ooohhh… My God…”

Enzo’s tongue was caressing the sensitive skin of her neck, breathing heavily while his hands were slowly going down. He firmly squeezed her ass with one hand and slowly pulled her skirt to her waist with the other one.

“Mmmmmm…” Victoria was panting, fighting her own desire to let go. “You’re cheating, Enzo… Please, stop…”

Enzo ignored her comment and firmly cupped her warm and humid crotch - she was definitely aroused and ready for more. “Do you feel like I’m forcing you?” He gently whispered, now sliding his hand in her tiny panties.

“Yes…” She finally mumbled.

Enzo immediately stopped and froze. He was breathing heavily, still excited at the perspective to have more. But she had clearly showed him the excitement wasn’t completely mutual - Vicky wasn’t ready to go that far. He pulled his hand and rested his forehead on her shoulder. “I’m sorry…”

They were both breathing loudly, trying to regain self-control. Enzo was biting his lips, wondering what she was thinking. He’d been over confident and now, his chances to make a good impression were close to non-existent. “I’m really sorry. I just thought you might like it…”

“Enzo… You and I both know that’s not an excuse. I don’t know what’s going on in your life, but you’re weak. You just wanted to take advantage of me…”

“I would never do that.”

“So tell me what we’re doing right now then? How did we end up in this situation?”

“You also allowed this to happen, Vicky…”

She sighed - he was right and she knew it. “Enzo, what do you want from me? Maybe it’s easy for you but I’m terribly confused. You just show up in my life, out of nowhere after ten years… Do you even imagine how I feel? I’m not supposed to be here with you!” Vicky said through her teeth.

“Don’t be so hard on yourself…”

“How am I supposed to react then? Oh my God…” Vicky shook her head and took her face in her hands. “I thought I was done with you… and here we are again…”

“You think it was a mistake?”

“Enzo, that’s not the point. This isn’t right, I can’t do that! I… I have a life now!” She said, slowly pushing him away and pulling down her skirt. “I’ve done enough already…”

“You regret it?”

“Gosh… Stop with your stupid questions! Just… just leave me alone, will you? Let’s pretend this never happened… It’s going to be easier for both of us…”

Enzo stepped back and nodded, eyes closed. “I see… You love him, right?”

Victoria raised her head and looked straight in his eyes. “That’s none of your business. It’s a bit late to care about who I love, don’t you think?”

“It’s never too late and this is actually MY business. Do you love him? Yes or no?”

Vicky looked away and sighed. “I don’t understand you… What makes you think you can come back in my life and expect me to be accountable to you? My private life is none of your business…”

“We have unfinished business, you know it.”

“I didn’t ask for it, that was YOUR decision. I never had a word to say…”

Enzo turned around and faced the opposite wall. He combed his hair with his fingers and grabbed the back of his neck with both hands. “Well… I’m back now…”

“And…? What do you want from me? What do you expect?”

Enzo kept silent and walked in circles.

“Enzo! What do you want? Answer me!”

He stopped and looked at her. His eyes were red and wet. “I… I don’t know…”
