Perhaps even more than ten thousand:
Ryan interview. When he was director of the Justice Department’s Nazi unit in the early 1980s, Ryan held that some ten thousand Nazis and Nazi collaborators might have come to America. He based that estimate on the overall numbers of immigrants from Nazi-occupied countries and the prevalance of collaborators named in Justice Department investigations. In author’s interview with Ryan in 2013 for this book, Ryan said his earlier estimate was probably too low.
