He braced himself, and after a few seconds of James being absolutely silent, he said, “Well?”

“So this is what you’ve been feeling for me all these weeks?” James murmured slowly, a wide smile spreading on his lips.

Will burst out into a grin, and he kissed James.

“Unbelievable,” James whispered as they pulled apart. “My fated mate has been by my side all these weeks, and I never knew it. I never got to feel
this.
I want you even more than I ever have, and I didn’t think that was possible.”

“You have no idea how relieved I am,” said Will. “I’ve been so afraid that I was wrong, that I’m the only one silly enough to think I’m your fated mate.”

“I still can’t believe it. You’ve been feeling
this
for me and you haven’t gone mad from the wait?” James looked at him hungrily, and Will knew that his primal senses were taking over.

“Well, I’ve had wagsroot to help me cope.”

“I might need some soon or I won’t be able to hold back,” James said purposefully, and Will smiled.

“You don’t have to hold back. We could…”

“But you’re hurt,” James pointed out, sounding reluctant. “As much as I want you, the last thing I want to do is hurt you even more.”

Will kissed him. “I’m a grown adult,” he said. “I can handle it. And I want you now.”

James growled and pushed the sheets away. “As usual, I can’t say no to you, Will. Never could before, and I definitely can’t right now.”

The sheets were tossed on the floor, and James made short work of his own clothing, shedding them and tossing them aside. Will had little on, and he gently pulled down his trousers and underwear, exposing his skin to the cool air.

“God,” sighed James as he stared at Will’s body, eyes lingering on the covered wounds. “I’ll kill that man for hurting you if I ever get the chance to.”

“No talking about killing,” scolded Will. “Very unromantic.”

James grinned. “Pardon my ill manners, Prince Consort.”

Will felt a thrill run through him at that. “Are we really going to marry? And bond?”

“We really are fated mates, aren’t we? And I’m not engaged to any weaselly, sneaky omega any more — there’s nothing stopping us any more.” James wrapped his arms around Will’s waist. “We’ll get married soon. I still have a wedding prepared and scheduled in three months, you know. All I need now is a mate there to say ‘I do’ with me. The doctor said that you’ll definitely be all healed by then, too.”

“I would love to,” said Will, giggling, feeling happier than ever.

“As for bonding, well…technically, we are supposed to wait till after we’re married. That’s the expectation for arranged marriages…but you and I aren’t arranged, and we’re a rather special case, aren’t we?”

“You want to bond now?” said Will, eyes wide open. “Here?”

“I can’t wait, Will. I can’t wait another three months to be bonded with you, I can’t even wait another day without you being my bondsmate.” James nuzzled into the uninjured crook of Will’s neck, inhaling deeply. One half of his neck was covered in bandages, but the other was bare, exposed. “The formalities of marriage is one thing, but I don’t want to wait to claim you as mine.”

Will could smell the lust growing in James, he could feel the alpha’s desire for him burning like a fire. Will himself could feel his heat coming back — he hadn’t the chance to take his wagsroot that morning, and the one he had taken the night before was fading quick. He dreamed of what James’s bite would feel like, nipping at his neck.

“Let’s do it,” he said, nipping at James’s nose. “Fuck me. Bond with me, claim me as your own.”

James grinned. “Never saying no to you, not once, not ever.” He pushed Will down on the mattress and pulled his legs apart, his patience breaking at the seams. His scent was changing too — Will thought it was now headier than normal, overpowering and delicious. Discovering their destiny as fated mates was finally having its effect on the Prince.

“I feel different this time,” James muttered, planting kisses all over Will’s chest, from his neck to his nipples, teasing them into erect peaks. “I might not be able to hold back — stop me, Will, if I’m hurting you.”

“I will,” promised Will, but he knew he could take anything at that moment. He had been waiting so long, such a long time that no matter what James wanted, he was ready to give it.

He squirmed in pleasure as James teased his body, caressing his chest and drawing circles around his nipples. The alpha was careful in avoiding the bandaged areas, focussing instead on the spots that made Will’s toes curl and moans flutter out from his throat.

“Feeling good?”

“Yes,” Will groaned. Slick was spilling from his puckered entrance, his heat multiplying his arousal beyond its usual limits. James reached down and his fingers played with the sticky, wet substance. He rubbed and probed his pink hole, and then with his slick-covered hand, he stroked his own cock, getting it ready to penetrate the omega.

When James finally entered him, Will let out a sigh of pleasure, which quickly transformed into a grunt as James bottomed out. They were used to each other’s bodies already from their many secret nights together, but this felt better. No wagsroot, no twitchwood — nothing was holding them back now from their true, primal needs. They rutted like animals, James plunging deep into the omega, rubbing along all his sweet spots. Will moaned encouragingly every time his prostate was triggered, and pre-cum dripped from his own erection generously, spilling over his belly and turning it sticky.

“You feel amazing,” James panted, thrusting hard. The sound of skin slapping skin punctuated his words. “I could never get tired of you, Will. You’re so
tight
,” he grunted at one particularly rough thrust. “And you’ll be all mine from now on, for ever.”

“God yes,” Will groaned, hands holding on to James’s back. His fingers were digging in, clinging desperately as he felt himself reaching his climax. This time, he wrapped his legs tight around his alpha, locking his ankles together. He never wanted to let James go. He wanted his alpha to knot inside him, he wanted to be bonded and claimed — he wanted to belong to James. “Come inside me,” he pleaded, “come inside me, James.”

James grunted one last time, plunging in deep, and he held still as his cock ejaculated hot cum straight into Will’s tight ass. Will cried out at the same time, feeling his orgasm take over, forcing him to arch his back and curl his toes. His nails dug harder into James’s back, and white cum splattered over his belly while his hole convulsed on his alpha’s erection. Instead of pulling out as he had always done in all the times before, now James stayed still as his cock swelled, a knot forming along it.

“So big,” Will gasped, stunned at the sensation of being filled up even more. He blinked, still twitching from the sensations of his orgasm.

“Does it hurt?” asked James, coming down from his lusty haze long enough to be concerned.

Will shook his head.

James smiled, relieved. He bent down to kiss his lips, and then tilted his head to lick at Will’s neck.

Will squirmed, stifling laughter. “Tickles,” he whined.

“Are you ready for my bite?”

“I’ve been ready for a long time,” Will answered earnestly.

James planted one last smooch on the spot, and then bared his teeth, closing them over the junction of Will’s neck and shoulder.

A rush of endorphins flooded the omega, and he came suddenly one more time, his body jerking violently, hips bucking against his alpha, even though his movements were stunted by the huge knot inside of him. James held him down, making Will feel protected, safe, and somehow conquered and free at the same time.

“James,” he moaned at last, his legs twitching around his alpha — his bondsmate.

“I love you, Will,” said the prince, his arms tucking under the omega’s body. “I’m glad you’re my fated mate.”

Will smiled. “Me too,” he said, his fingers weaving through his alpha’s hair. “Me too.”

E
PILOGUE

“Rise and shine, princess,” Kytes said, yanking back the curtains and forcing Will to cringe as his room was suddenly flooded with sunlight.

“Oh God, no,” the omega whined, irritated. “The morning sun is as bad here as it is back home.”

Kytes barked out laughter. “Are you expecting the sun to be different in the Den?”

“I don’t know what I’m expecting,” he mumbled, rolling over onto his other side.

“Well, I’m certainly not expecting you to become a morning person even though you’re hours away from becoming Prince Consort,” sighed Kytes. “Same old Will. Get
up
!”

“As soon-to-be Prince Consort, I order you to close the curtains and leave me alone.”

“I don’t take orders from you,” growled Kytes, “not when it’s just you and me alone, at least.”

Will laughed. “What’s the point of being Prince Consort if I can’t even boss my best friend around?”

“You can figure that out on your own,” said Kytes. “I’m just here to make sure you get out of bed and ready for your wedding.”

Will smiled at that reminder and sprang out of bed, kicking aside his blankets.

“Oh
now
you get up.”

“Well, I do have to get ready, don’t I?” said Will, stretching this way and that.

He was still not used to the Den — he had only arrived from Hemslock the week before — and with all the last-minute preparations for the wedding, he had barely any time with James. But all that was going to change in just a few hours. All his wounds had healed, all his books and most of his possessions had been delivered with him to his new home, and most importantly, he had his friends and family with him, ready to witness the beginning of his new life.

Advisor Keanes was safely locked away in prison, sentenced for life for acts of treason against the Alpha family. As for the Redfang wolves, the peace treaty had come to an end and the alliance was over, but no war had started. “I don’t want anything ruining our happiness,” said James to Will when the treaty had been ended. “No wars, not when we’re about to get married. Father and the Alpha Court are still working out the matter, and we’ll be watching them carefully from now on. The Redfang wolves are scared now anyway, they wouldn’t dare lift a finger against us. They know they’d lose against us.”

Things had worked themselves out somehow, despite the many obstacles Will had to overcome. He had his fated mate, his bondsmate — and now it was time for them to be officially wedded.

“Let’s get you looking good for your bondsmate,” said Kytes, cracking a grin. “Adrian’s outside waiting to help you get ready, too.”

“When is it going to be your turn?” said Will slyly, looking at his friend with a knowing grin. “The Third Son isn’t the patient sort, I know that much.”

Kytes turned red, coughed, and looked away, too embarrassed to say anything in response.

The wedding was at noontime. In the heart of the Den was the Alpha and his family’s domain, and the ceremony was taking place at the square that preceded it. The square was surrounded on all sides by a lush field, and in the middle had been erected a platform. Crowds from all around the Norvargen territory were gathered all around it, all jostling for a better angle to view the proceedings from. It was unheard of, that a member of the Alpha family would marry a commoner, that the Prince’s fated mate was none other than the son of an innkeeper from Hemslock. There had been a huge commotion over it, but none of it unpleasant.

A huge red curtain had been drawn across the entrance of the Alpha’s home, and Will was hiding behind it. He gulped as he peeped out, staring at the thousands and thousands of people who had chosen to show up that day. Just as James had promised, the Den was truly enormous, and he had never imagined there could be space for so many people.

“Don’t be nervous,” James whispered into his ear, and Will took a deep breath, comforted by his presence.

“I’ll try,” Will whispered back, smiling sheepishly. “I just can’t believe this is it.”

“Mmhmm.” James nuzzled into his neck, kissing the spot where he had bitten him. “We’re already bondsmates, but this will make you my consort officially in the eyes of the Court. And after this…”

“After this?”

“We’ll have to work on making some heirs, won’t we?” James said cheekily.

Will laughed. “I think we’ve already been busy doing just that.”

“We’ll have to put even
more
effort into that, I think. But let’s save that for tonight, shall we? We better not keep them waiting right now.”

They went out hand-in-hand to the square, wearing matching white robes, and the crowd bowed respectfully as they appeared in the square. Will felt his breath catch in the middle of his throat, suddenly faced with so many people. He saw his new family, the Alpha Consort Isabel and her many children, standing by the front, coolly watching the proceedings. To the left, near the front, Will spotted Kytes and Byron, given positions of honour. Kytes grinned at him, and Will smiled back. His eyes scanned the crowd further, running over familiar faces and taking heart in them. Head Chef Isaac was out of his usual uniform and was looking dapper and less cranky than usual. Jack and Peter excitedly chattering to their parents, pointing at everything within sight and waving at Will eagerly.

As part of the official ceremony, both Alpha Miles and Pa stood up front with them. Pa couldn’t resist leaning over to Will and saying in a soft voice, “Your Ma would have loved to be here, Will, and I know she’d be just as happy as I am.”

Will had to choke back tears at that. He met James’s ice-blue eyes, and he smiled. James looked so handsome in his formal white robes, which highlighted his height and broad build. They listened to the officiator carry out the proceedings, and repeated the right words at the right spots. It was a very formal ceremony, with no chance for the two to say anything beyond the expected rites. They would have to save their vows to each other for later.
