“You are both welcome here for as long as
you would like.” Carrick said.

Gran thanked him but remained by her side.
It was like a dream, a fantastic, scary dream that she couldn’t control. They
moved out of the room to another set of doors. She didn’t speak to Thame or
anyone as she walked through an open bedroom door and to the bed. Then she
removed her shoes and snuggled beneath the covers.

Their house was gone. Their life was
forever changed and now she might not be human. There was a soft thud of the
door closing. Was she even alone? She had no idea and didn’t care as she lay on
her back staring at the high ceiling. The bed dipped, and instantly the warm
male fragrance surrounded her. Thame’s muscular arms wrapped around her and she
didn’t fight as he pulled her toward him. It was like a warm cocoon, a blanket
straight from the dryer. She cuddled her back against his front and closed her
eyes. Tomorrow would be another day. She’d sort out this mess then. Right now,
she wanted nothing more than to sleep and feeling Thame’s soft breathing was
the ultimate harmony.

Morrigan could hardly believe her eyes as
that green-haired fairy placed his arms around her and took her high into the
air. She was ready to shoot him when he dipped low and rushed high in some sort
of display. After she threatened his nuts, he sped up. The place truly was a
kingdom. That is if that ‘I’m really in a coma’ thing didn’t pan out. She was
left in a beautiful bedroom with a balcony. That’s where she stood now, on the
balcony with her knuckles turning white from gripping the bars. This just
couldn’t exist. There were more than one of these fairy things and now she was
in some kind of hidden dome city with sunflowers on crack. Seriously, they were
freaking huge and she’d gawked at them for nearly ten minutes now. The sun had
set some time ago, but no matter the perfect mattress, she just couldn’t close
her eyes.

She took a deep breath and glanced
downward. This room was three stories up. There was no doubt she wanted to
explore the place. Maybe she would find evidence this was all a rouse or she
really was in a coma. Keeping her weapons on, she slowly made her way out the
bedroom and down the hall. She had no idea which way to go and hit several dead
ends before she found a door that opened up to the cool night air. There were
flowers already blooming here and a few willow trees dotted on either side.

Morrigan walked quietly in the shadows
until she reached one of those drug-mutated sunflowers. Her palm pressed
against the prickly stem, and she pushed with all her might and the thing
didn’t even sway. It had to be fake.

There was crack of twig and a flash of color.
She spun around to face the shadows. Her knife was out, pulled from between her
tits like a magical wand. The blade glinted in the moonlight, but nothing
rushed her. Even the shadows seemed to still, nothing out of place caught her
eyes. After another ten seconds, she returned the knife and faced the sunflower.
She would find out if this place was some elaborate set up.

Morrigan began to climb the stem of the
sunflower. She’d done rock walls and a thousand rope climbs at the police
academy to show the boys there she was just as tough as them. It had worked and
after all the practice, she could rope climb like a pro. Granted this was not
anything like a rope, it pricked her skin and the girth made it a slow process
but she made it to the top were petals sprung outward. There was no way to maneuver
atop them so she dug her heels in and glanced out right where she was. It
didn’t help her suspicions at all. There really was a kingdom here and what
looked like a waterfall. A fucking waterfall. Really?

It took twice as long to shimmy her way
down, but eventually her feet hit the ground and she began to trek to that cascade
of water. It was down a deserted path with high castle like homes sprouting
into the air. Everything was three or four stories here. They were spaced
pretty far apart with grass and empty flowerbeds.

She came upon the waterfall after the
last house with the red dome top. Her mouth popped open. No fucking way was
this real. She stumbled over the uneven grass to the edge of the water and used
that handy knife to peel away grass. There was a liner under here somewhere but
no matter how far she checked nothing. This was a real waterfall. Morrigan sat
back on her haunches and stared around at the world that might very well exist.
What the hell had Brook gotten them into?

“Satisfied?”

A voice echoed and she spun around with knife
pointed outward. Morrigan slowly lifted to her feet still trying to pinpoint a
location. A shadow shifted and she tried to hold her shiver as the blue-haired
fairy approached. Her shiver was definitely not because of fear.

This guy was tall and built like a
warrior, a successful one. His hair was spiked and blue, freaking blue like a
crayon, but it looked hot on him. His wings were black as night, she could
hardly tell them apart from the darkness around them. At least he wore clothes.
He was covered head to toe in old-fashioned material. It looked like it was
from the 1800’s. Did these guy’s live that long? It was loose around the neck
and a thin black rope replaced buttons. His pants were tied at the waste and
everything was in that menacing black. She assessed it all, including the
weapons he carried as he took three steps toward her. Morrigan raised her knife.
“You are?”

Blue man didn’t answer. He took one more
step forward and glanced back at the waterfall. His eyes were dark gray, nearly
black and they locked with hers. “It’s dangerous out here.”

She gripped her knife tighter as she heard
the subtle footsteps behind her. The moment his muscles tensed for a fight, she
spun and tipped backward. The blade had been aimed for her torso and she barely
missed its point as she fell on her ass. Morrigan used both legs to kick the
thing in front of her. She didn’t know what it was, or if they were on the same
side, all she understood was that it was attacking her. It stumbled back and its
mouth parted in a gasp.

A blade protruded from its neck as blood
splattered. She looked away, not because death upset her stomach but because
blue man had glowing eyes trained right on her. She heard the swift removal of
his sword from whatever the fuck attacked them. Morrigan swallowed hard as his
black wings fluttered like one of hell’s fairies.

“Whisper.” He leaned closer, nearly
hovering over her supine form.

“Okay,” she whispered and frowned when a
small attempt at a smile formed on his face. “What, I’m whispering?” Morrigan
rolled away from him and quickly rose to her feet. She didn’t expect to feel
radiating warmth behind her and this fairy’s breath across her neck. Another
shiver racked her body, and she couldn’t move despite the warning bells going
off in her head. Her breast rose and fell quickly with sharp breaths.

“It’s my name. Whisper.” He did just
that, right against her skin and caused her body to clench in lust.

She opened her lips to retort and send
him on his way but then he pressed his body against her back. His lips
delicately closed over her skin and he kissed her on her neck. Morrigan wanted
to scream. What was she doing? This was some stranger with fucking wings. Maybe
the craziness really was contagious. He kissed higher, little touches until he
reached her earlobe.

“Say it.”

“Kiss my ass.” This time fear crept up
her spine. She was the dominant not him. The decision was made long ago that
she would not be submissive. She wouldn’t let any man control her again.

“I’d be happy to.”

She finally jerked free. Afraid he really
would pull her jeans down and give her ass an affectionate touch. Once she
moved away and he no longer touched her, the perimeter defenses returned. “I
don’t give a shit what your name is.” She pushed her blade into its sheath and
gave her best attempt at her ‘don’t fuck with me’ look. Honestly, she’d
probably never again be able to whisper without thinking of him. “Why did hell
spit you back out?” She didn’t face him as she spoke.

Whisper growled and approached her again.

“Just back the fuck off, Blueman.”
Morrigan turned on him, her hand on the gun at her hip as she went back the way
she came. Her blood was pumping, heart beating wildly and she forced herself
not to rush. Knowing he followed, watching her like a nerve inducing push toward
the edge of sanity.

She was careful with each step without
showing that she was trying to avoid falling flat on her face. The walk home
was agonizing and the moment she saw the door into the palace she wanted to run.
Instead, she held her ground, walked slowly and listened closely to the flutter
of wings nearby. They were black like that shadows he hid in, and Morrigan
rushed the last few steps into the palace. The moment the door shut, she leaned
against it. He was trouble. That fairy had managed to kiss her neck without being
kicked in the nuts.

Morrigan rushed to her room not bothering
to pretend she was unaffected. Well, the encounter called for a bottle of
strong Irish beer and a one-way ticket out of here. She would say her goodbyes
to Brook and get the green guy to fly her out of here. There was no way she was
going to stay within a thousand miles of Whisper.

He was a dominant male and she would not
be his submissive female. Another shiver ran down her spine, and she stopped
throwing clothes in her small bag. Memories assaulted her, ones she would
rather forget entirely. It was a combination of blood, pain and the urge to
find a dark corner to hide in. She had vowed long ago to never again be a
victim. She would never allow herself to be dominated and this blue haired
fucking fairy would not change that.

Queen Brook had problems mounting. A war
with the trolls was slowly brewing, Carrick was moody with everything going on,
and she was not yet pregnant. Now, her cousin Morrigan seemed to have freaked
out and taken off. What the hell happened? She rounded the corner picking up
the strap on her floral sundress. The thing was forever falling down her arm.
She stopped mid-step as a women accompanied Carrick. They were walking down the
corridor toward the guest rooms.

“Can I speak with Keyn?” The elder woman
asked. Her happiness was quickly replaced by a frown as she glanced at the
nearby door.

Was this the grandmother? Brook managed
to catch a look at Thame’s woman and the quick look reminded her of someone,
but who?

“Maybe tomorrow, Abigail. Here is your
room.” Carrick spoke patiently.

“Thank you very much, your highness.” The
elder woman giggled like a schoolgirl and disappeared into the room.

Carrick nodded with a smile then spun to
face his queen. “Why are things never simple?”

“Because then I’d never be able to give
you a good rub down after a hard day’s work.” She winked.

“They were attacked.” he sighed, placed
an arm around her shoulder and began walking toward their master bedroom. “They’re
both okay but the house caught fire.”

“Oh, that’s horrible.”

“To add to that, the grandmother told
Thame’s woman she might possibly be part fairy and that she, herself, is part
troll.”

“Wow, there’s a lot in that gene pool.”

Carrick tilted his head. “Jean and a
pool?”

Brook lifted a brow. After explaining the
simple things she didn’t have time for the complicated. “Never mind. Although
it would be nice having some surface dwellers down here,” she quipped knowing
he had no idea what she was talking about. “We could talk modern appliances.” She
grinned at her own lame joke and was quickly distracted by Carrick’s mouth on
her neck.

“When she was upset...” he kissed her
neck. “I have never seen Thame so worried.” A kiss to her jaw. “After all these
years he’s showing some real emotion. It’s a nice look for him.” he stopped to
smile then carefully backed her up to the wall just outside their room. “I do
remember you saying something about a rub down.”

“Sure, that you remember.” Brook grinned
and licked her lips. Carrick pushed down the straps that once again dropped on
her shoulders. He tugged until her bare breasts slowly came free. Her little
pink nipples hardened. He still had that instant effect on her. His head
lowered and his mouth closed over the peek with such an exquisite suck, she
moaned. Her thighs began to quiver from trying to keep them shut but his knee
slipped between them and pressed against her crotch. This was the reason she
wore so many dresses since she met Carrick.

“Did you forget panties again?” He
growled the words into her ear.

Brook simply nodded and shifted her legs
further apart so his bare leg could rub against her eager flesh. His mouth
assaulted each pink bud as she began to shift her hips forward and back. Stimulation
made her entrance weep and the sweet smell of her own desire wafted to her nose.
“Carrick...”

“Yes, my Queen...”

She was going to say
get down on your
knees, a good tongue lashing is in order
but an image suddenly popped into
her head she couldn’t ignore. The high cheeks bones of Thame’s woman, the small
nose, the overall look. They reminded her of someone, and it was bugging the
hell out of her.

“Brook?” He lifted a brow. “You’re
usually not distracted when I play with you.” Carrick mumbled and lowered to
his knees.
