“Can I get you
something to drink?”  Tiaan asked, sipping on his whiskey.

“No thank
you.”

The politeness
and his withdrawal led to a very long and unappreciated dinner, no matter how appetizing
it was. Allison swallowed hard and said softly.

“What you
saw…it was not what you think.”

“And what exactly
am I thinking?”

Allison looked
at Tiaan.  His eyes burned and his jaw was rigid.  He looked angry and grim.

“The only
reason I talked to him was to tell him that I wanted nothing to do with him and
that he must leave me alone.  I even refused to leave the dining hall, which is
why we were in the alcove.  When he kissed me, I immediately pushed him away.”

“So it was the
first time he made contact with you?”

Allison
winced, knowing where this was going.

“No, he phoned
me three weeks ago. I made it clear then I wanted nothing to do with him.”

“And that was
it?”

“He kept
phoning and leaving voice and text messages, which I have not responded to.  The
girls and I have been having lunch at that restaurant the last Wednesday of
every month for eight years and he knew it.  Willow started making a scene and
I only tried to preserve some dignity, which is why I spoke with him.”

“You knew how
I felt about him being back, Allison, I made it very clear.  Why did you not
tell me he contacted you?”

“Because I
honestly thought he would leave me alone when I did not respond.”

Tiaan sat
watching her, his mouth compressed in a thin line.  His voice was ominously
soft when he asked the question.

“What was his
reaction when you told him about me?”

“I…” Allison
frowned and felt her heart miss a beat, knowing how he was going to react.  “I
haven’t told him.”

Tiaan nodded.
“I thought as much.  Tell me, Allison, of all the things you could have said to
him to leave you alone, why did you not mention the one thing that would?”

Allison
paled.  “Tiaan, all I have been trying to do was stay away from him.  I…
Tiaan,
come back!

He took their
plates and stomped toward the kitchen.  Allison followed him and startled when
he threw the plates into the basin with a clatter.  She was surprised they did
not shatter into pieces at the force with which he threw them.

“I swear, I
only want him to leave me be.”

He spun to
her, his hands in fists by his side.

“I find it hard
to believe you really want that.”

“Oh God,
please, Tiaan.  I want nothing to do with him.  I just want him out of my
life.”

“And you had
the perfect ammunition to do so, yet you chose not to use it.  All you had to
do was tell him you are in a committed relationship with me.  That we live
together.”

Allison
dropped her head and wrung her hands in front of her.  She took a deep breath
and looked up.

“You are
right. I should have, but I didn’t.  I just never expected to see him again and
I am trying to be civil about it.”

“And after
lunch?  Has he contacted you again?”

“Yes, but I
have ignored it.”

Tiaan snorted
and stormed past her.  He grabbed his car keys and continued to the door.

“I am going
out, before I do something we will both regret.”

“Tiaan, please
don’t.  We need to fix this.”

Tiaan spun
around and glowered at her.  “No, Allison,
we
need to do nothing.
You
need to fix it and until you do, I have nothing more to say. But I fucking warn
you.  Do so without going anywhere near him.”

She watched
him drive away with a heavy heart. By the time she went to bed, just before
midnight, he still had not returned.

Allison woke
up with a start when Tiaan fell down on the bed beside her.  She opened her
eyes and flinched when his face suddenly appeared in front of her.  The moon
shining through the open window cast the room in a bright blue haze and his
eyes glittered like diamonds.  Droplets of cold water fell on her breasts and
she gasped.  She touched his shoulders and realized he had taken a shower
before getting into bed.

Tiaan lifted
himself over her and she spread her legs when his knee pressed demandingly between
them.  He surged inside so deep inside her, she cried out.

Tiaan…!

He took deep
calming breaths and did not move, his eyes still glittering down into hers.
The moment her body softened around his straining cock, Tiaan pulled back and
slammed back inside her, once again eliciting a helpless scream from her.

“You.”
Thrust.  “Are.”  Thrust. “
Mine.
” Thrust.  “Tell me, who you fucking
belong to, Allison.”

“I…ooohohoh…belong…hmm…to
you!”

He started a
rhythm them.  A hard, ruthless rhythm that drove her to her first climax within
minutes.

“I will never
let you go, Allison.  I am warning you.  If I find you near him again, you will
regret it.”

His head
lowered and he kissed her, his hands sculpted her body to his desire. He
awakened sensations inside her that spiraled her emotions out of control.

With expert
precision.

With ruthless
demand.

With no
emotion.

Allison’s
tears mingled with her cries when he drew climax after climax from her for
hours thereafter.

Now she knew
how it was with all those women he used to take to bed.  He gave them what they
needed and enjoyed the giving, with no emotion, with complete detachment toward
them.

Still, she
clutched him around his waist and whispered brokenly against his throat.

“I love you,
Tiaan.”

Tiaan
stiffened and lifted his torso to lean on his elbows. His expression enigmatic,
he said with raw acerbity.

“You have a
unique way of showing it, Allison.”

He scrutinized
her for moments longer, sighed and slipped from her body to lie on his back
beside her.  He flung his arm over his eyes.

“Go to sleep,
Allison.”

Allison was
devastated by his response to her declaration.  Maybe she was mistaken.  Maybe
she was no more than a possession to him.  Maybe she had been a fool all along.

Enough
Allison.  Maybe you just got what you deserved.  Maybe you should have just
told Greg about Tiaan and all of this could have been avoided.

Allison cursed
her inner voice, but knew she had no defense.  She brought all of this onto
herself.

Chapter Twelve

“Your girl’s ex is a real prick,
Tiaan.  He was never faithful to her during their engagement, but from what I
can ascertain, she was never aware of it, until the day after he broke off the
engagement. He went to Canada three days later and left her to deal with the
embarrassment alone.  He had accepted the junior partner position at the firm
in Canada four months prior to their wedding date.  He knew he was going to
leave her then.”

Simon Booth
sat in front of Tiaan’s desk and reported back on his investigation.

“Fucking
asshole.”

“He did not
change his spots once he arrived in Canada with his new girl either.  He
cheated on her and walked out on her less than a year later.  She was too
embarrassed to return to New York and moved to LA.  His philandering was
brought to his Partners attention and they gave him an ultimatum.  Change his
ways or he was out.  He got fired four months later.”

“So that is
why he is back here.”

“Yeah…this
you’re not going to like.”

Simon hesitated
and Tiaan looked up from where he was reading some of the verbatim reports
Simon had sent him.

“Do I have to
drag it out of you, Simon?”

“He…ahum…got
the job as Partner with Bennett & Associates on the premise that he is getting
married.  Apparently his fiancée stayed behind to build her practice.  Now that
he is back they’re getting married in two months.”

“You’re
shitting me, right?”

“Afraid not.
I told you.  The man is a prick.”

“It is no
wonder he is like a vulture after its prey with Allison.  His job is dependent
on getting married.”

“Seems like
it, yes.”

“What are you
going to do?”

Tiaan sat
rolling his Mont Blanc pen between his fingers, a frown on his face.

“If push comes
to shove I will whisper a few truths in George Bennett’s ear.  He would not
appreciate being made a fool of.  For now…I need to see what Allison is going
to do about him.”

“You are
taking a wild chance, Tiaan.  He controlled her in the past, something no one
understood because she has such a strong character.”

“That is
surprising.  I’ll give her two more days to get rid of him, then I am stepping
in.”

Simon gathered
his laptop and notes then left Tiaan to his thoughts.  Tiaan watched him go and
then turned to look toward the framed picture on his desk. It was a photo that
he took of Allison walking on the beach.  Her hair was blowing in the wind and
she wore a pair of denim shorts with a white halter top.  The sun created a
halo around her silky blonde hair.  Her eyes glittered and her smile was softly
sensual. She was kicking at the water with her arms flung above her head.  He
had never loved her more than at the moment he took that picture.

Holy
shit!  Loved her?  Where the devil did that come from?

He flew up from his chair and
paced in front of his office window.  For the first time blind to the beauty of
Manhattan around him.

“All your references checked out,
Blaine.  If you are happy with the terms, I am happy to sign.  When will you be
able to start?”

Blaine Vogel had
moved to New York after the love of his life passed away six months ago and he
needed to get away from painful memories.  He sold his Orthodontic practice in
Canada and relocated a month ago.  He had just turned fifty-five and had no
desire to start up a brand new practice.  He was searching for a Partnership,
which Allison was too happy to offer.  It would take a lot of pressure off her.

“I am ready to
start.  Just say the word.”

“That is
fantastic.  I’ll get the contracts drawn up and have them ready for signing
tomorrow morning.  The timing is perfect.  I am due to go on leave on Friday.”

“I am
comfortable with that and you can be assured I will take good care of the
practice while you laze around on some beach.”

“I also hired
three new dentists.  The practice has exploded over the past six months and the
demand seems to keep growing.”

They discussed
the differentiation of duties and by the time he left two hours later, both
their functions have been clearly defined.  Allison still maintained the
majority share of 65% and was happy that they took accountability for all
decisions together.  Blaine’s personality and hers meshed very well together.

Allison
cleared her desk and answered the landline when it buzzed on her desk.

“Doctor
Hadley.”

“Sparkles
darling.”

Allison sighed
and closed her eyes.  Did the damn man never give up?

“Greg, this is
the last time I am going to talk to you, so I need you to listen very
carefully.  You broke up with me over three years ago and left me to deal with
the embarrassment and humiliation of being left at the altar.  More than that,
you left me with all the bills that had to be paid for a wedding that never
happened.”

“I am truly
sorry, da…”

“I am not
finished.  Do you know that to this day I never cried one single tear over
you?  Not one.  What does that tell you, Greg?  I’ll tell you.  It means I
never loved you and all I felt when I realized that, was relief and anger at
having to throw good money away because you had no backbone.”

“Allison, now
listen here…”

“No, Greg,
you
listen here.  I moved on.  I met a wonderful man that I
do
love.  Love
deeply and I moved in with him a while ago.  You are not going to ruin that for
me.  Do you get what I am saying, Greg?”

“I don’t
believe you.  You are making it up.”

“Oh for heaven
sake!  Then get this, Greg.  Come near me again and I will obtain a restraining
order.  I will not speak to you over the phone again, so do not bother phoning
again.  In other words, Greg…
fuck off and stay out of my life
.”

Allison
slammed the phone down and took a deep calming breath.  She felt relieved and
knew she should have told him that very first day he phoned her.  She still did
not know why she didn’t.  Maybe because she wanted to show him he meant nothing
to her without another man adding the muscle.

Her phoned
beeped and she cursed when she saw it was another text message from Greg.

Greg

“We belong together, Sparkles.  We are each other’s yin and yang.
Pretending there is another man is not going to keep me away.”

Allison
emitted a loud shriek, deleted the message and immediately blocked Greg’s
number on her phone.  Enough was enough.

Because of him
every day since Wednesday, including the past weekend, had been hell. Tiaan
barely spoke to her, he had not touched her since Wednesday night and the
atmosphere between them had been strained.  Every day he asked her one question
and when she answered negatively, he got up and went to the local pub, leaving
her to her own devices.

That night was
no different.  As soon as Dolores cleared their dinner dishes, he looked at
her.

“Have you told
him, Allison?”

“Yes.  I also
told him if he did not leave me alone I would obtain a restraining order
against him.”

Tiaan
stiffened and his eyes hardened.

“What made you
issue such a threat?”

“He seems to
think I am lying.  That I am making up a lover to make him jealous.”

“So I assume
in this discussion my name did not come up.”

“No, as far as
I am concerned it is none of his business.  I just want him to leave me alone.”

Tiaan sat
brooding, staring toward the ocean, but at least this time he did not leave.
Allison watched him and knew what she said to Greg that afternoon was the
truth.  She did love Tiaan deeply.  He was the one man she had been waiting for
her whole life.  The only one who could give her what she needed.  Emotionally
and physically.

“Tiaan.”

“Yes.”

“Please kiss
me.”

He turned his
head toward her with eyes that glimmered in the setting son.  He reached out
his hand and tucked her onto his lap.  Closing his hand under her chin he
hauled her tight against him.  He lifted her face and searched her eyes.  She
bared her soul to him within that one glance and he must have been satisfied
with what he saw shining there.  His head lowered and Allison’s lids dropped
over her eyes.

Tiaan’s mouth
dove down to open wide over hers, biting her lip sharply.

“Tiaan,” she
moaned on a gasp of pain into his mouth.

Swiftly he
deepened the kiss, softening his lips against hers.  They moved over hers in a
lazy, searching motion, stroking and memorizing every nuance of her softness
beneath his.  His tongue plunged inside her mouth to tangle with hers, setting
the final nerves in her body that were still numb to tingling and then to burning
fire.

His tongue
stroked sensually over hers, rubbing the tip of his tongue with a touch so
tender and soft against the roof of her mouth.  Allison moaned.  It was the
most erotic feeling ever and her pussy reacted as if he was stroking his wicked
tongue inside her sheath.

Tiaan ended
the kiss with a few small pecks on her lips and lifted his head.  He stroked
her jaw and asked with a raspy voice, “So, sweetlips, how was your day?”

Allison gulped
in much needed air and asked with husky disbelief, “You want to know how my day
was?  Really?  Now, after that kiss?”

“Yes, I really
want to know how your day was.”

He pushed her
off his lap and put her back on her chair.

“For that
matter, sitting over there will probably be for the best.”

Allison incinerated
him with eyes that glowed like lasers.  His eyes sparkled with amusement and
she simmered.

He
bloody knows very well what an effect he has on me!  Damn caveman!

“Well, I hired
three more dentists last week and I found a Partner today.”

“Why?  You did
not tell me you wanted to expand?”

“I did tell
you the practice was becoming too busy for me to manage with the number of
staff I have. I needed someone to help alleviate some of the pressure.”

“Tell me about
her.”

“Him.  It’s a
him.”

Tiaan’s eyes
narrowed and Allison’s widened.  “Oh no, you are not doing this, Tiaan
Sheppard!  I understand the issue with Greg, but you are not going to get
uptight every time I mention another man.  For goodness sake, if I have to be
the same I would be uptight 24/7 with all the women that buzz you like bees to
honey!”

Tiaan did not
respond and just looked at her.  She sighed.  “His name is Blaine Vogel.  His
wife passed away six months ago and he sold his practice in Canada.  He he
didn’t want to stay there with all the memories, so he decided to relocate to
New York. They never had any kids, so there was nothing keeping him there. Um…
he just turned fifty-five and does not want to start a practice from scratch.
I really think you will like him.  He is highly qualified and made quite a name
for himself in Canada.”

Tiaan frowned
and nodded.  “I recall reading an article about him a year ago.  He made
headlines for saving a family with a baby, their boat capsized.  If memory
serves me correctly, they sang his praises as an Orthodontic Surgeon in that
article, as well.”

“Which is why
I need him.  I am the preferred surgeon for a number of hospitals in the area
and desperately need help.  We discussed appointing some interns as well.”

“Would that
mean you would be working fewer hours?”

“Oh yes and most
likely take some days and afternoons off, here and there.”

“Hmm…I like
that idea.  Mason and Brooklyn came back this afternoon, so I would be able to
take some time off now as well.”

“Talking about
taking some time off…”

“Hmhmm…enough
talking for now, baby.  It is time for some more smooching and serious love
making.  You have quite a few nights to make up for.”

Allison rose
and swayed her hips as she walked toward the patio door.  Dolores had already gone
and they were alone in the house.  She reached up and lowered her sundress
straps over her shoulders.  She shrugged and jiggled her hips, allowing the
dress to fall to her feet.  Her bare breasts bobbed and Tiaan’s breath caught
in his throat.  Next Allison dragged her lace panties over her hips and down
her legs.  She stepped daintily out of them and smiled seductively at Tiaan.
Gloriously sensual in her naked beauty.

“Honey…would
you do me one
favor
?”

“Anything
baby.”  Tiaan’s cock was so hard he could cut through steel. He swallowed as
she turned and looked sensually at him over her shoulder.

“Would you
please go and rub your…statue’s stick three times?  You need to be able to keep
up with
meeeeekkk….Tiiiaaan…nooo!
