She pulled his shaft free and smiled. “I could say the same for you.”

She pushed him to his back, and he landed with a grunt. “Condoms?” she asked.

“Suitcase. I bought some earlier. They’re in the bag.”

Kayla walked over and grabbed one from the box. She ripped the package open and straddled
his thighs. She trailed her fingers down his length before grabbing the base and pulling
it upward. She set the condom at the tip and rolled it on slowly. He kept his gaze
on her, watching with interest as she gave his balls a soft squeeze. “Maybe I should
tease you a little,” she purred.

“Tease me all you want, sweetheart. So long as you fuck me when you’re done teasing.”

“Would you like for me to fuck you?”

“Oh, yeah. Now, baby.”

He tried to lift her hips, but she swatted at his hands. “It’s my turn. I want you
screaming this time.”

Turning around, she straddled his hips with her back to him and then slowly slid down
his length, or part of it. God the man was huge. She shifted and slid down again,
taking a little more of his thick girth before lifting and then slamming her pussy
down on him hard, taking every last inch of him inside her. Throwing her head back,
she gasped at how good he felt.

“Oh, fuck,” Steve moaned as she took him balls deep.

With a growl, Steve sat up, pressing his chest into her back. He brought his hand
around and squeezed her breasts, his fingers pinching her nipples. She slowly moved
her hips in a circular motion and he growled in her ear, “Son of a bitch.”

Steve was in heaven. Her hot, wet walls squeezed at him as she continued to slowly
circle, screwing the hell out of him. His balls tightened, and he was close to losing
it. She felt like liquid lava. So hot and so damn tight. God, she was perfect.

“Oh, damn it, Kayla.”

He moved his hand lower and pinched her clit. His middle finger and thumb gently milking
it.

“Oh, God,” she screamed as her second climax hit. Her pussy clenched around his cock,
pulling him deeper into her spasming channel. Moving to his back, he bucked upward,
pushing himself so deep he nearly hit her womb. Her name tore from his lips as his
release raced through him.

Still trying to catch his breath, he caught her as she fell backward onto his chest.
He rolled to his side, his cock still buried within her tight warmth. Lifting her
leg over his thigh, he teased her with slow, shallow thrusts.

She arched her back, pressing her behind against his hips in time with his rhythm.

“Mmmm, that feels good,” she whispered.

“Yes, it does. Damn good.” He nuzzled the side of her neck, breathing in the vanilla
scent of her hair mixed with ocean and sex.

His movements stopped, and she snuggled closer. How difficult would it be to convince
her he wasn’t the man she thought he was? The man the rumors claimed him to be. And
why did it matter so much?

“You’re full of surprises, sweetheart,” he whispered.

She smiled at him over her shoulder. “Is that a good thing?”

He smiled back. “Absolutely.” He feathered his hand up her thigh to her hip. “Tell
me, my little wild cat. Just how wild are you willing to get?”

“Meaning?”

“Meaning. I like to experiment. Play around. I saw a shop in town yesterday that has
all kinds of toys.”

“I see.”

He glanced over her shoulder and watched as she bit down on her lip.

“I brought a vibrator with me,” she whispered almost hesitantly.

“A vibrator?” He grinned at the blush that covered her cheeks. It amazed him that
a woman who could fuck that well would suddenly get embarrassed. At the mention of
the toy and all the delectable scenarios, he became hard again. “That has possibilities.”

“Yeah. I have a fantasy involving you and a vibrator.”

She rolled to her back and stared up at him, her blue eyes still as dark as the ocean
from desire. He could gaze into them all day, and it was then he realized his feelings
for her might run deeper than physical. He’d known her a while, watched her, laughed
at some of the off-the-wall things her and Jordan would say during a flight. Was he
confusing the physical with something else? Or had it been finally winning the chase
that had him all weird? He had two days to figure it out.

He traced her jaw with the tip of his finger. “Tell me your fantasy,” he whispered.

Chapter 5

Later that afternoon, Kayla stepped from the bathroom to answer the knock at her door.
She assumed it would be Jordan. Steve was supposed to meet her in the lobby for a
late dinner. They’d missed lunch and right now, she was starving. It was a good thing
Steve had called downstairs, though. If he hadn’t, she wouldn’t have known her reservation
had been cancelled by mistake and they might not have gotten a table. At the time
it had seemed a bit strange, but Steve had quickly taken her mind off it by kissing
the side of her neck.

She really needed to learn how to resist him at least somewhat better. Otherwise she’d
be raw and barely able to walk by the time they left for home.

Throwing open the door, she sent Jordan a smile before heading back to the bathroom.
“Come on in. You can keep me company while I fix my makeup.”

Jordan shut the door and followed her to the vanity mirror. He brushed her hair away
from her neck and smiled at her in the reflection of the glass. “Been playing with
a Hoover?”

“No!” she said with a slight laugh.

She put her hair back over her shoulder, covering the fairly large hickey Steve had
left. As soon as she’d realized what he was doing, she’d tried to pull away, but he’d
kept after her, making a game out of it until finally, she’d melted and they’d had
sex a third time.

“Anybody I know?” he teased.

She shrugged. “Just someone I picked up off the beach.”

“You are such a liar.” He grinned over her shoulder. “Come on, doll. Dish.”

She closed her compact and dropped it into her makeup case. “Okay. I took your advice.
Like you didn’t know I would.”

“And?” Jordan strolled to the edge of the bed and sat. Crossing his legs, he stared
at her expectantly, while patting the mattress beside him. “I want details, girlfriend.”

She couldn’t help but smile. He was so funny. “All right,” she said and plopped down
on the bed. “I went to his room and told him the sex would be just here. Once we leave,
that’s it.”

“That’s it, huh?”

She scowled. “Yes. That’s it.”

He held up his hands in surrender. “Okay. Don’t bite my head off.” His full lips spread
into a saucy grin. “So was he as good as I’ve heard?”

Kayla bit her lower lip. Oh, God, was the man good. Her body still hummed from all
the things he did and she was sure she’d be sore later. Some places were already sore.

“Yeah.” She glanced at him through her lashes and grinned. “Better.”

“Oooo,” Jordan sang, making Kayla laugh.

“I can’t believe we’re talking about this. I need to get ready for dinner.”

She stood and moved back to the mirror, making the final touches to her mascara.

“Have you decided what you’re wearing?” Jordan asked as he sifted through the clothes
hanging in her closet.

“No, not yet.”

“How about this little number?”

She looked at him through the reflection. He held up the red sundress she’d bought
yesterday in town. It had spaghetti straps, was low cut in the back, and the skirt
showed more leg than she was comfortable with, but Jordan had insisted it suited her
perfectly.

Steve had been on his cell phone talking with the first officer when he’d seen her
standing outside the dressing room. He’d stared, his mouth open, his eyes wide and
mesmerized.

Jordan had actually walked over and tapped under his chin. “Close your mouth, big
guy. You’re going to catch a fly.”

Kayla smiled at the memory and the way Steve’s cheeks had flushed with just a hint
of pink. She wondered if he would have the same reaction tonight. While they were
eating, she could whisper that she wasn’t wearing underwear. She giggled at all the
things she would do to make him crazy.

“I know that giggle,” Jordan purred. “Planning on going sans underwear?”

She scowled at him over her shoulder. “I think I tell you way too much.”

Jordan laughed and laid the dress across the foot of the bed. “Doll, you don’t tell
me enough.”

* * * *

Steve stood at the center fountain, waiting on Kayla. Part of him felt a tad guilty
over canceling her reservation for dinner, but in the end it had all worked out. He
thought about telling her. Maybe she would get a giggle out of it. He frowned slightly.
Or maybe not. Women tended to frown on being manipulated. He just hoped she liked
the surprise he had planned for her. He’d come up with the idea after she’d left for
her room, and he’d been pleasantly shocked he could pull it off in such a short amount
of time.

Two women walked by and smiled, their eyes grazing over him like he was candy and
they’d been on a diet for weeks. He nodded his head in acknowledgment, but nothing
more. He wasn’t interested. The only thing he could think about was Kayla. Her beautiful
smile, her gorgeous legs, her adorable giggle.

When she’d stood outside his door earlier today, her chin tilted defiantly, her stance
determined, he’d wanted to grab her and hold her close. Never let her out of his arms.
He had no idea why he felt this way. He’d never been in love before. Not even close.
Over the years, he’d watched the way Nick looked at Lindsey and wondered if he had
the same moon-eyed expression himself whenever he looked at Kayla.

He certainly had the pounding heart, the sweaty palms, the shortness of breath. She
drove him crazy and left him feeling confused and uncertain. Which was something he
wasn’t familiar with. Steve Hawkins was never uncertain about anything. Except whether
or not he was in love.

“A dollar for your thoughts.”

Steve spun around and spotted Kayla standing behind him. His gaze traveled down her
hourglass figure, taking in her long legs visible beneath the short skirt. The push-up
bra pressed her breasts together, creating mouthwatering cleavage he had to fist his
hands to keep from touching. This wasn’t Hedonism. Public displays of affection, or
at least to that extreme, were out.

“A dollar, huh?” he asked.

She shrugged, her full, sensuous lips spreading into a smile. “Inflation.”

He chuckled. “You look”—he sucked in a breath and clucked his tongue—“damn good.”

“Good enough to take to dinner?”

“I think in light of how sexy you look.” He leaned down and ran his fingers down the
back of her arm. “And how difficult a time I’m having keeping my hands off you, I’m
going to do something better than just dinner.”

She raised an eyebrow, a slight shiver running just under her flesh. “Better? Just
what do you have in mind?”

“Come with me,” he said with a grin and held out his hand.

“Said the spider to the fly.”

Steve laughed and put her hand in the crook of his arm. The warmth of her touch filtered
through the sleeve of his shirt, sending a ripple of hot current up his arm. The sensation
surprised him and for a second he stared at her fingers. Her long nails were painted
a light pink and scratched at his inner bicep. Shaking his head slightly, he turned
and escorted her toward the back entrance.

A warm breeze blew, sending jasmine through the air and ruffling Kayla’s short bangs.
Her high heeled sandals clicked against the concrete as they strolled along the path.
The moonlight highlighted the white streaks in her blond hair, and he reached out
to brush a windblown lock from her cheek.

“So where are we headed?” she asked.

“Right there.” He nodded toward the dock and the large yacht awaiting them.

Her hand flew to her chest. “What on Earth?”

“I wanted to have dinner alone, away from the prying eyes of our crew.”

“We could have had dinner in the room.” She walked to the end of the dock and accepted
the helping hand the yacht captain offered in boarding. She smiled, whispered, “thank
you,” and began to walk toward the bow of the boat.

Steve followed close behind, his gaze glued to the soft sway of her ass. “And miss
an evening of dining and dancing under the ocean stars?”

She spun around and stared at him, surprise evident in her widening eyes.

“Didn’t think I could be so romantic?” he asked, amusement pulling at his lips.

“I’m sorry, but no.”

He placed a hand over his heart and cringed. “Oh. The pain.”

“Oh, the over acting.”

They both laughed. She was so easy to tease, so much fun to be around. Holding out
his hand, he grasped her palm and led her to the dining table that had been set up
outside on the second level.

A bottle of champagne chilled in a bucket of ice. A bowl of red, ripened strawberries
sat next to it. She eyed him through her lashes. “You wouldn’t by chance be trying
to seduce me? Would you?”

He placed a hand over his heart and formed his face into as innocent an expression
as he could. “Me?”

She smiled and sat down. She needed to before she sank due to weak knees.

The table was covered with a white linen tablecloth and expensive bone china. One
dozen red roses filled a crystal vase, and small votive candles reflected firelight.
Two champagne flutes were brought over and the captain poured them full of the bubbly
drink.

“We’ll be underway in about five minutes, Mr. Hawkins. Is there anything I can do
for you before we head out?”

Steve shook his head as he sat down across from her. “No, thank you, captain. We’re
fine.”

He bowed with a smile. “Enjoy your evening.”

Kayla still couldn’t believe Steve had actually done something like this. It was incredible,
and if she wasn’t careful she would end up falling head over heels in love. She was
already halfway there. Once she returned to work, she’d have to put in for a hub transfer.
There was no way she could continue to work with him after this.
