Tinker Bell sailed happily through the clouds. Close behind were her friends Rosetta, Silvermist, Iridessa, and Fawn. “Whoa! Look at that!” cried Silvermist, pointing toward the mainland below. Somewhere down there, hidden from human view, was the place where the fairies would spend the summer. As they approached, Tink kept her eyes peeled for Terence. Terence was Tinker Bell’s best friend. She swooped to meet him, and he gave her an affectionate grin. “Hey, Tink! Ready for your first summer on the mainland?”

“Absolutely,” Tink answered. “It’s so beautiful out here. I can’t believe we get to stay for the whole season.”

“Well, what are we waiting for?” Terence teased.

Tinker Bell didn’t pause for a moment. She zoomed down toward the countryside, with Terence doing his best to keep up.

This was Tink’s first summer season change. But luckily her friends had done it many times before and already knew the ropes.

Rosetta the garden fairy flew away from the group and hovered next to some flowers. A swarm of bees raced out of the trees and began feasting on the flowers’ nectar. One little bee got crowded out and couldn’t find a place. Rosetta guided him to an open flower where he could drink his fill.

Iridessa the light fairy flew to a heavily shaded area of a nearby glen. The sunflowers there looked sad and droopy. Iridessa adjusted a swatch of sunlight so that its warm rays shone directly on the limp flowers. Immediately, they perked up and turned their wide golden faces to the sky.

Fawn the animal fairy greeted a little bird with open arms. And Silvermist the water fairy zoomed past a couple of frogs and their pollywogs sitting on a fallen tree trunk on the bank of a stream. “Hi, guys!” she shouted, flying just above the water. The pollywogs spotted their fairy friend and jumped along after her.

Out in a field, Vidia, the fastest of the fast-flying fairies, was hard at work. Tinker Bell saw her flying over the ground, creating a strong wind. Every blade of grass woke up and joyfully swayed in her wake.

Tinker Bell had never felt so happy. When she’d first arrived in Pixie Hollow, the tinker fairies weren’t allowed to go to the mainland. Only the nature fairies were allowed to participate in the changing of the seasons.
