âYour mum was just telling me that the storm has passed.' Rosalina chose her words carefully. Archer cocked his head at her and she nodded discreetly, willing her eyes to convey her excitement. Shock lit up his face. He looked at his mother and his lips formed a question, but then he just smiled as he fed her another spoonful.
âMum always was good at predicting the weather.'
Helen squeezed her hand again. Archer caught the movement and Rosalina forced back tears of joy. After only a few mouthfuls his mother refused to eat any more, but Rosalina was happy. Helen was eating a little more with every meal.
Within fifteen minutes, Helen had drifted off to sleep. Archer gathered her into his arms and carried his mum to her room. Rosalina dressed her in her nightgown and together they tucked her into bed and said goodnight. After they turned off the light and closed the door Archer reached for Rosalina's hand. âDid she really speak?'
Archer's eyes held hers, and when she nodded he was quick with his reaction. He picked her up and spun her around in the hall. âFantastic,' he said. He lowered her and his lips met hers for a brief, chaste kiss that had her wishing for more. But now wasn't the time. Jimmy, Alessandro and Ginger would be waiting for them in the saloon, no doubt with drinks in hand.
The distant storm created an electric buzz in the air that enhanced the excited banter at the table. Jimmy was his usual gruff self, cracking jokes and picking on everyone's small idiosyncrasies. It was hard to believe that he'd nearly died just ten days ago. Ginger helped Rosalina in the kitchen and together they made a delicious fettuccine marinara with the fresh fish Alessandro and Ginger had caught that day. It had been Ginger's turn to teach Alessandro something for a change and Alessandro's fishing
faux pas
, especially as he could barely move at the moment, provided excellent fodder for Jimmy's jokes.
âHas there been any news about Nox?' Alessandro asked during dinner. âDo you think he's alive?'
Archer shook his head. âRescuing someone with a spear sticking through their body would've made front-page news. So no, I don't think he made it. Let's just assume all that blood would've attracted an abundance of predators.'
A bloody image snapped into Rosalina's mind, and as she reached for her glass she stared at the bubbles gliding to the top and tried to swing her focus back to something nicer.
After a moment of silence, Alessandro grinned. âNot toasters, I assume.'
âYou're getting funnier every day, numbnuts.' Jimmy clapped Alessandro on the back and for once, Alessandro didn't react to Jimmy's impromptu nickname for him.
âSo what's our plan, boss?' Jimmy asked and with almost identical timing, Jimmy and Alessandro leaned forward on their elbows.
âIt's obvious, isn't it?' Archer said. âWe can't leave the Calimala treasure down there. It's time to haul it up. Unless you fellas want to go back to your old jobs.'
âNo fucking way.' Jimmy looked around the group with a sheepish grin. âSorry, ladies.'
âIt's okay, Jimmy.' Rosalina knew Jimmy really was a gentleman. Occasionally his excitement let him down though.
âI couldn't leave you guys. You'd flounder out here without me.' Alessandro puffed out his chest. âYou need me.'
âYeah, like a hole in the head.' Jimmy smirked.
Alessandro clutched his chest in mock hurt and Rosalina didn't miss Ginger's movement to place her hand on his leg.
âSo we're treasure hunting?' Jimmy's grin was that of an extremely happy man.
Archer held up his glass. âTo treasure hunting.'

An action adventure novel set in the Australian jungle where two unlikely people prove just how attractive opposites can beâ¦
It's pretentious socialite Abigail Mulholland's worst nightmare when her plane crashes into an ancient Australian wilderness. Things go from bad to downright hellish when rescuers never come. As she battles to survive in an environment that's as brutal as it is beautiful, Abigail finds herself also fighting her unlikely attraction to Mackenzie â another survivor, and a much younger man.
Mackenzie Steel is devastated by his partner's death in the crash, the only person with whom he shared his painful past. Now, as he confronts his own demons, he finds he has a new battle on his hands: his growing feelings for Abigail, a woman who's as frustratingly naïve as she is funny.
Fate brought them together, but they'll need more than luck to escape Kakadu alive. Could the letters of a dead man hold the key to their survival?
Fairway to Heaven
Lily Malone
It's going to take more than summer loving to heal old wounds, but a remote beach, old friendships and a bit of sunshine might just spark a second chance at love.
When Jennifer Gates drives to Sea Breeze Golf Club to kick off date-night with her boyfriend, the last thing she expects is to find Golf Pro Jack giving one of his lady students a private â and very personal â lesson in bunker-play.
Lucky for Jenn, her best friend gives her the keys to the Culhane family's beach shack on the white-pepper shores of Western Australia's Geographe Bay. Jenn hopes a weekend on the coast with her young son will give her the space she needs to rebuild her confidence after Jack's betrayal.
But she's not the only person seeking sanctuary by the sea. Brayden Culhane is there too, and Jenn can't look at Brayden without remembering the tequila-flavoured kiss they shared on the shack steps years ago.
As long-buried feelings are rekindled, and a friendship is renewed, Jenn knows it is more than lazy summer days bringing her mojo back. Romantic sunsets, ice-cold beers and the odd round of golf can only go so far, because this time trusting Brayden with her heart won't be enough. Jenn has to learn to trust her body, too.

They might be one of the hottest up-and-coming bands in Australia, but the members of Selling the Sun have a lot to learn about life, love, sex and each other.

Falling for her best friend was never going to make life easy. After an almost accidental drunken kiss almost six months ago, they aren't even talking. Instead she lives in a space of indecision and pain, and it's affecting all aspects of her life, including the band.
Kirsten Vincent missed Gemma like crazy, but did she miss her as a friend or as something more? She's confused and Gemma is hurt, and the consequences of a bad decision will affect more than their personal lives. Miracle In March
Juliet Madison
A new Tarrin's Bay novel from best-selling author Juliet Madison. She took a break from real life, and found what she didn't know she was looking for.
Emma had plans, travel plans, going-far-away plans, but her family means everything to her, so when they needed help, she was there to deliver it. Running the family business of beachside cabins in Tarrin's Bay might not be the same as the French Riviera, but Emma finds a certain level of peace in the beautiful setting and small town community.
But when she finds that her ex-boyfriend, a man she left behind without explanation, staying in one of the cabins, her peace is ruined. She knows the only way to get it back is to share the secret she's been hiding for five years, and admit to him the limitations that she now carries. But James has his own truths to share, and he's not the man that Emma once knew.
They are both in very different places than before, but it's a time for renewal and second chances when their reunion brings secrets to the surface, dreams to be remembered, and the realisation that they are both in need of a little miracle.
