“Oh god, Luke,” she cried, trembling beneath me.

I kept working her, moving my fingers in and out, my tongue pressing and swirling over her clit. She was close, I could feel her trembling and writhing, clutching at me and calling my name.

I lifted my head, “Come for me, Trin, come now.”

She obeyed like the good girl she was and came for me, calling my name over and over as she found her release. As she was coming down from her orgasm I quickly discarded my clothes and crawled up alongside her, kissing over her breasts, up her throat and then finally her lips. I hovered over her and pressed against her entrance.

“You are so ready,” I told her, “fuck I love how wet you get for me, Trin.”

Reaching down between us she grabbed me and rubbed me against her length, letting me slide over her slipperiness before she pushed me into her entrance, gasping and clutching at me as I slid into her easily. She was still tight but she was always so ready for me that I had a hard time not coming instantly. Instead I leaned my head against her forehead and groaned as she began to buck her hips against mine, searching for release again.

“Just hang on,” I begged her breathlessly, “give me a second.”

“Are you okay?” concern etched her voice.

I nodded. “So fucking okay that I think if you make one more move I am going to be way too okay and it will all be over.”

“Oh,” she said understanding and then giggled.

Fuck I loved her giggles.

Rising up, I stared down into her eyes as I began to move, slowly at first and then faster and faster as the need in me built. Her legs wrapped around my waist and she kept her gaze fixed on me as I moved against her, as she moved against me, meeting my hips thrust for thrust.

Just when I thought I couldn’t stand it anymore she threw her head back and closed her eyes. “No,” I told her, “keep your eyes on me.”

She obeyed and bit her lip as her orgasm gripped her. I watched her, watching how her pupils dilated, how her breathing changed, how she gripped tighter and called out my name and then before I knew it I was joining her, toppling over the edge and into an abyss of pure bliss.

Pulling the car up outside The Silver Den, which still read Liv Den, I couldn’t help but think back to that Saturday night weeks ago when I had done this exact same thing. I glanced over at the same bored bouncer. How things had changed.

“I have to run,” Trinity was saying beside me, “I’m late.”

She was always late. It was how she seemed to operate, always running late for something, but that only seemed to make her more adorable. At least in my eyes it did. I watched as she grabbed her bag from the backseat, planted quick kiss on my cheek before clamoring out of the car and disappearing into the club, throwing a grin the bouncer’s way.

I ran a hand over my face before I followed her. Once inside I made my way over to the bar and ordered a drink, leaning against the bar as I waited for the bartender to deliver my beer. Music filled the club and there were a few people already dancing to the music the DJ pumped out. It was quite packed already and I knew it was because of Moonstone. Word was getting around about how good they were. My chest swelled a little, how good Trinity was. My Trinity.

I sipped my drink and let my mind wander back to that afternoon. To the playful antics in my bedroom. We’d been so caught up in one another that we had forgotten that just outside the door my mates were watching a game. Or trying to watch a game. When we had emerged a while later we had been greeted by caterwauls and wolf whistles. Toby had even clapped as if we had just completed a performance. Trinity had blushed scarlet but she didn’t run away and hide like I knew she wanted to, and instead she had stayed by my side all afternoon until it was time for her to get ready for her gig.

“You here to see the band?” the guy beside me asked now, drawing my mind away from my musings.

I glanced over at him. He was dressed in a suit. A fucking suit. And he was older than the regular patrons of The Silver Den.

“Yeah. You a fan?”

He grinned. “Not yet. But I have heard some great things about Moonstone and someone suggested I come and check them out. You’re a fan?”

“I’m a huge fan,” I told him with a grin.

“You go to the college here?” he asked again.

I nodded. “Engineering major.”

“Right,” he said without interest, “have they got a big college following then? Moonstone?”

I shrugged. “Yeah I guess.”

“Good to know.” He turned back to survey the interior of the bar.

I frowned at him. “Who did you say you were?”

It was his turn to grin at me. “I didn’t.” I half expected him to walk away but he held out a hand. “My name is Charles Murphy. I run a Sunlight Records.”

I blinked at him. “You’re a music producer.”

“That I am.”

“And you’re here to see Trin—I mean Moonstone?”

“Yeah, always keep an ear to the ground looking for new talent. Something raw and new. I’ve seen them on YouTube, that lead singer is something else, so I thought I’d check them out.”

“They know you’re here?”

He shook his head. “No.”

“Well,” I said a little dumbfounded, “enjoy the show.”

He grinned at me. “Oh I am sure I will.”

I watched as he took a seat toward the back of the room where he could survey pretty much the whole entire bar. After a while I noted Tony Hurst appear and go over, chatting to him for a while. Then he gestured to the bartender who bought over a bottle of wine and a single glass. Obviously Tony knew he was here. I wondered absently if he had organized for him to come and then remembered the last time he had nearly set up Trinity. I pushed my drink away. I needed to be completely sober tonight to keep an eye on what was going on.

By the time the girls came on a little later the bar was packed. I surveyed the crowd. It had been busy the first night had come to see what the fuss was about but the crowd must have doubled in just a few short weeks. Glancing over at Charles I could see he was just as interested in the crowd. The band came with devoted fans, which had to be a bonus.

Gwen stepped up to the microphone first and spoke to the crowd. “How y’all doing?” she drawled and grinned when a loud round of applause greeted her. “We are Moonstone and we are here to entertain you whilst you get hammered!”

I grinned, watching as the crowd came alive.

“Give it up for our girl Trinity.”

I leaned forward, watching the stage intently as Trinity stepped out on stage. She was dressed in that strapless tartan dress that was fucking sexy as hell. When she’d climbed out of my car only an hour ago her face had been bare of makeup but now it was made up for the stage, complete with thick black lashings around her eyes and dark red lips. Puckering her lips now Trinity blew a kiss to the audience before she launched into the first song. It was a cover of Five for Fighting’s song Superman, something I hadn’t heard them do before and not something I would expect them to sing, but oddly Trinity, with her operatic voice, did it justice and when she closed her eyes and clutched the microphone to sing the audience went wild.

“I’m only a girl searching for her dreams.”
She sang making my throat clench as I watched her. I wanted her to find her dreams, I wanted her to have everything she’d never dared dream with the fucked up life she’d had so far.

Glancing over at the music rep I found him leaning across the small table he occupied, glass of wine in hand as he watched the band intently. Watched Trinity. They were playing another song now, “Halfway Gone” by Lifehouse, yet another interesting choice that sounded completely different with Trinity’s voice. Shawna on drums though had a chance to shine in this song and for a while the spotlight left Trinity to focus on Shawna who was caught up in the beat, her head tilted back, eyes closed, red hair shining in the stage light. She was good, all the girls were good, fantastic even, but of course my eyes never left Trinity for very long.

I wished I could read Charles Murphy’s face, but it was impassive and giving nothing away. He had to be impressed, he couldn’t not be. The girls were on fire tonight and Trinity was sexier than ever. As if proving my point she turned around and bent forward a little shaking her ass at the audience in time with the music, one arm raised in the air. Then she turned and looked over her shoulder her eyes scanning the audience before they settled on me. A wicked grin came over her face and then she winked. I returned her grin, ignoring the interested looks of the patrons around us as I kept her gaze for as long as she would spare it. Most of the regulars knew she was with me, since we’d been together continually for weeks now. I was glad. I wanted them to know. I wanted each and every guy in hear to know that she was mine and they might be able to watch her strut her stuff on stage but off stage, she was mine.

I might as well beat my chest and roar, that was how Neanderthal I felt.

My girl. She was all mine.

Chapter Twenty-Three

Trinity

I took a large gulp of water and used a small towel to wipe the perspiration that beaded on the back of my neck. It was hot up on stage with the lights burning down on us and I always bounced around on stage so much that I couldn’t help but get sweaty. But the audience loved it when I danced around and put a lot of energy into the performance and it was all about the audience.

Or at least one audience member.

I glanced over to where Luke stood by the bar, watching. He was there every Saturday night and I loved the feel of his eyes on me. It made me feel sexy and alive. He made me a better performer.

Stepping up to the microphone now I smiled down at the audience, dragging my gaze reluctantly from Luke. “How we all doing?” I asked and they cheered in response.

“We are going to take it down a notch okay? Try a new song out on you guys. A new song written by our fantastic drummer Shawna,” the audience roared and I grinned. “It’s called
For You
and I hope you like it.”

I closed my eyes and listened as Gwen counted us, Shawna starting to play and then the others joining her. Then I started to sing, keeping my eyes closed as I concentrated on the lyrics and the beat. It was a slower song and the lyrics were heavy with meaning. Shawna had done a fabulous job. I swear the girl should write poetry she was so good. I leaned in to the microphone and let the words flow out of me.

“For you I take the higher road

For you I close the door and walk away

For you I dry the tears and let you free”

I wondered who Shawna was thinking about when she wrote the song but I hadn’t asked. We never asked, feeling somehow that it was too personal. She might share the sentiments and words with us, but her thoughts and experiences were her own to keep. Besides I found it easier to get into the song if I put my own spin on it, if I made it personal for me. For this song it wasn’t hard. I thought about my mother. As much as I wanted a relationship with her, as I had always wanted a relationship with her, I knew it was never going to happen. She hated me too much, she resented me too much and she had hurt me for the last time. Luke had said that I knew he would never let her touch me again but it was more than that. It was from me. I was finally finding some balls when it came her to her and I vowed I would never let her near me again, let never her hurt me. I was done. And in a way I was doing her a favor too. I was doing it for her. Maybe she was right and without me in her life she would finally have the happiness with Kent that she had craved her whole life. I doubted it but at least she had the chance now.

When the song ended the audience went wild. Opening my eyes I immediately searched for Luke at the back of the bar expecting him to be watching me as he usually was. I was surprised to see though that he wasn’t, instead he was looking over at another table, his focus fixed on the guy that nodded his head and clapped along with the audience. He wasn’t the usual patron we had in here, dressed in a suit and being quite a bit older I frowned a little wondering who he could be and why Luke was so interested in him. I didn’t have time to think about it as I could already hear Shawna setting us up for our next song. But I was intrigued and as we continued playing my eyes were continually drawn to the guy at the back. At one stage I saw Tony talking to him too which only piqued my interest more.

It had become a thing for guys to throw roses on the stage now, ever since I had dropped a rose bud down the front of my pants and the stage was now littered with them. Picking one up I stuck it down the front of my dress, making sure the bloom peeked out between my cleavage. The guys at the front yelled some obscenities at me, things they’d like to do and whilst that part of the show made my skin prickle a little, I played along, throwing them kisses and winks. Empty promises. There was no one for me but Luke now.

Finally, the night drew to a close. Stepping up to them mike I thanked the audience for a great show before Gwen yelled “give it up for our girl Trinity” and the audience went crazy once again. I giggled and did a pretend curtsy, wobbling slightly as I did which only made me giggle even more. Then we were tumbling back stage. I immediately pulled off the high-heeled boots I had been wearing all night and rubbed my sore feet.

“Fuck that was amazing!” Gwen yelled. “Has to be one of our best shows yet.”

“The audience was on fire tonight,” Molly agreed, “they were loving Trinity.”

I managed a smile and took a sip of water as I sat down on a chair, my feet aching. Even though I was exhausted, adrenaline coursed through my body which thrummed with a lingering beat from our set. I looked up as Tony came backstage to join us, clapping slowly, a huge grin on his face.

“Fabulous girls you were fucking fabulous,” he drawled.

I managed a tight smile and nodded at him.

“And I have some great news for you,” he said, “something you will be very happy to hear.”

“We’ve heard that before,” Shawna said pointedly.

“What is it Tony?” Gwen interrupted.

“In our audience tonight was a representative from Sunlight Records and he wants to meet you.”

I frowned. “Who?”

“Sunlight Records,” Gwen explained, “they’re music producers. Nothing big but they’ve had done some good stuff.”

“Well?” Tony asked, “You want to meet him?”

“All of us?” Gwen confirmed, “Not just one.”

Tony laughed as if she’d said something hilarious. “That was all a misunderstanding before,” he said offhandedly as if I hadn’t had some old guy pawing at me only a few short weeks ago. “This guy is the real deal. He just wants to speak to you for five minutes, okay?”

Gwen glanced at us and we all shrugged. “Sure,” she said to Tony, “why not.”

The five of us exchanged glances and I could tell we were all excited but after last time we were keeping it downplayed. We had gotten so excited and it had all turned out, well, turned out bad. Nobody wanted to get their hopes up too much.

Luke appeared back stage as we were waiting for this mysterious music rep. He came right over to me and pulled me up into his arms, planting a deep and welcoming kiss on my lips. I was hot and sweaty and probably smelled like beer but I knew he didn’t care, this kiss was his way of laying claim to me, reminding him and me that I was his girl and letting anyone else around us know it at the same time. It was old fashioned, chauvinistic, and I loved it. Luke needed it after watching me on stage and I happily gave it to him.

“Get a room.” Molly giggled behind us and we broke apart, grinning stupidly at one another.

“Can you keep that dress on for later,” Luke said, his eyes wandering appreciatively over the strapless tartan.

I made a face. “I’m all sweaty.”

A slow grin spread across his face, his eyes darkening. “Sweaty I like. I plan on getting you even sweatier.”

A flutter of butterflies stirred in my stomach but I didn’t have time to indulge my fantasies as Tony emerged with another man following him. It was the guy from the back of the bar, the guy I’d seen Luke watching. Of course, made sense that he was the music representative.

“Charles Murphy, Sunlight Records,” he introduced himself and thrust his hand forward shaking each of our hands. His eyes lingered on Luke and mine’s hand which were entwined. “Ah, I see you really are a fan.”

Luke nodded but didn’t say anything and ignored the curious look I shot him.

“Let me start by saying girls that you are good,” Charles said, “very good.”

“Thank you,” Gwen murmured.

“You have a manager?”

We all looked at Gwen who stepped forward. “I act as manager.”

Charles nodded. “You really should think about getting yourselves an independent manager, someone who is not a musician in the band. I find that it works better that way, having someone to focus on all the managerial and administrative tasks. Frees up girls to focus on the creative side of things.”

We all nodded. It made sense, but it didn’t really seem that relevant. I mean it wasn’t as if we had a huge amount of administrative or managerial tasks at the moment. We rehearsed in a garage for god’s sake and had only one regular gig.

“So I am interested girls,” he continued, “very interested. I think you have a lot of potential, both commercial and indie. Trinity,” he focused his eyes on me, “I think you are incredible as the lead and your voice is incredible. Are you trained in opera or classical music?”

I flushed under the compliment but shook my head. “No. No training.”

He nodded. “Raw talent. I like it. Anyhow, I would like to meet with you girls and see what we can organize,” he handed each of us a business card, “so give my office a call on Monday and we can tee up a time to meet. I will let you get back to your after party.”

We all shook hands with again and then he was gone. As soon as he was out of earshot the five of us let out an ear-shattering squeal and began jumping up and down and holding one another.

“Did that really just happen?” Molly squealed.

“I don’t know,” Shawna replied, “pinch me and I will tell you if it’s all real. Ow!”

“He seemed legit didn’t he?” Olivia confirmed, “I mean, he didn’t sound dodgy at all. And he said to call his office didn’t he?”

“First thing Monday,” Gwen confirmed. “Oh my god, did that really happen?”

I nodded. “I think it did.”

“Fuck I need to get shit-faced right now.” Molly grinned.

“Tony’s?” Shawna said.

Everyone nodded. I glanced over at Luke who was watching us with a smile on his face, his arms folded across his chest. “I think I’m gonna pass on Tony’s.”

Gwen shook her head. “Oh no you’re not. Not tonight. We need to celebrate and you need to celebrate with us. Luke will come won’t you, Luke?”

“Of course I will.”

I glanced back at him apologetically. I knew he wanted to get home and get into bed as fast as possible. Or at least that was what I wanted, but I also didn’t want to let the girls down and people expected to see me at the after party at Tony’s. I hadn’t been for weeks now. Tonight wouldn’t hurt.

****

The girls were on a high, high on alcohol, the post-gig buzz we always got and the extra buzz of Charles Murphy’s interest. I found them all out the back of Tony’s house which was packed with people as per his usual Saturday night. Funny, how it was his house, but we rarely ever actually saw him. I wondered idly where he hid out whilst the party raged.

Molly handed me a shot of tequila and then reached behind me to give one to Luke. She raised her glass in the air, made a toast to Moonstone and then we all downed our drinks. Immediately a warmth spread throughout me. I pressed myself against Luke and pressed my lips to his neck feeling him react beside me.

“Give it a break you two.” Olivia grinned with a roll of her eyes. “And don’t think that we haven’t noticed that you are a little late.”

I flushed. We were a little late, but as we drove over to Tony’s house I’d been so excited and had started kissing Luke’s neck, my hands roaming over his body and touching him until he’d been forced to pull over and pull me into his arms. My body tingled in response as I remembered him tugging off my jeans and panties before plunging into me, his face flushed and his breath coming in short pants as he pushed us both over the edge. When we’d sat back up we’d giggled when we realized we had completely fogged up all the windows and my foot had left an imprint on the windscreen.

“Hey, Trinity baby!” Toby appeared behind us and pulled me into a great big bear hug. He was off his face, high or drunk or both. “Long time no hear!”

I shook my head. “What are you talking about Toby? You could’ve come to the gig tonight.”

A slow grin spread across his face. “Oh I wasn’t talking about hearing you sing, baby. I was talking about hearing you scream.”

I burned with embarrassment but that didn’t stop him continuing. He threw back his head and feigned a high pitched girly voice. “Oh Luke, that’s it, oh Luke, oh Luke.”

I wanted to crawl under a rock and hide, but instead I turned and pushed my face into Luke’s shoulder. Luke shoved Toby who stumbled back. “Hey man, since when did you start fantasizing about me whilst you are jacking off?”

“Huh you wish bro.” Toby laughed. “Trust me I have my own fantasies that don’t involve you.” His eyes suddenly darted around the circle and landed on Gwen who was staring at her feet. Uh. Interesting. Gwen and Toby hadn’t hooked up in weeks and when I’d asked her about it she said they had just been having some fun but it was over now. She hadn’t seemed overly concerned about it and I hadn’t pressed her for more, knowing what it was like to want to keep things private. In the meantime Toby had had a steady stream of girls traipsing in and out of his room who all knew his name quite well, although a few of them got him confused with God at times.

“Excuse me,” Gwen muttered suddenly, “I have to use the bathroom.”

She turned and stomped away toward the house. I watched her go for a second before extricating myself from Luke’s embrace and following after her. She might not want to talk about it, but at least I could offer her my company and let her know I was here if she needed me.
