Laszlo's blood ran cold. Jason Ross—
the
Congressman Jason Ross was the Jason she'd been talking about earlier? He swallowed the anger that rose hot and thick in his mouth. There was so much he wanted to say, so many questions he wanted to ask, but he remained silent, waiting for her to continue.

"We got close, really close. The local press had dubbed us a political power couple. I thought I loved him and he said he loved me. But then things changed. I don't know why. I don't know what happened, but he became jealous and controlling and abusive."

The vein in his temple throbbed and his jaw ached from clenching it so hard. "Are you telling me that Congressman Ross did this to you?"

"Yes," she whispered.

His arm stiffened protectively around her. "Why would he attack you, Trinity?" He tried to keep the skepticism from his voice, but what she was saying seemed ludicrous. Yet, he couldn't help but believe her.

"I didn't know what to do at first. When he started getting abusive I threatened to leave him. He swore he'd never do it again and like an idiot, I believed him. You'd think I would've learned from my father that once an abuser, always an abuser. The second time it happened, my threats fell on deaf ears. He told me if I ever tried to leave him, he'd kill me. And I was scared, Laszlo, I was scared that he'd actually do it. So I stayed for a long time. He had complete control of me. Then I found something that saved me."

The bastard deserved to die for what he'd done. And if Laszlo knew he could get away with it without getting caught, he'd do it himself.
"What did you find?" His heart raced as he waited for her to answer.

"I found photographs and videos of him with prostitutes, both male and females ones.
"

"What a sick fuck," he said before he could stop himself.

"I knew if they ever got out his political career would be ruined, not to mention he'd have to face criminal charges. So, I did the only thing I could think of. I stole them and I ran."

"Wow, Trin, I don't know what to say." It was too much to take in all at once.

"Please, Laszlo, you have to understand the only reason I did it was because it was the only way out I had. I didn't have a choice," she pleaded.

"I know. It's
okay. You did what you had to do to survive." He kissed her again—a soft passionate kiss that expressed just how much he still cared about her. "I told you, nothing you tell me will change how I feel about you."

Trinity nodded. "Thank you."

He smiled at the fact that she cracked a smile. "Okay, well, he obviously found you. What does he want?"

"This isn't the first time he found me. Last time he
threatened to kill me if I didn't turn all the pictures and videos over to him. So, I ran again and told him if anything happened to me the pictures would be sent to the press. I thought I'd managed to elude him. I took precautions. I got rid of all my credit cards so he couldn't follow them. I changed my last name and started using my mother's maiden name. I really didn't think he'd find me again."

"A man like that has a lot of resources, Trinity. And a lot of money. If he's determined enough, he will always find you." He hated that he sounded so doom and gloom because he didn't want to scare her, but he wanted her to understand the gravity of the situation.

"I realize that now." She sighed and shook her head. "I'm tired of running. I was tired of it before, but now, with a baby, I just can't keep doing it, Laszlo. I just want him to leave me alone."

He watched as more tears ran down her face. There was no way he was going to let her run again—not when she was carrying his child. But more than that, Laszlo loved her and he wanted a life with her. "Where are the pictures and the videos now?"

"The stuff I have on him is well hidden. I have a safety deposit box at Remsen National Bank where the originals are kept. I have copies in a lockbox that is buried in my backyard. I also sent a copy to my lawyer with strict instructions not to open them unless I was dead."

Laszlo remained silent for
several moments. "If you give them back, he'll leave you alone, right?"

"No. I mean, I don't think so. He
told me he'd spare my brother's life in exchange for the pictures, but the only way he'd let me live is if I went back to him."

"Over my dead body!" Laszlo didn't mean to shout, but there was no fucking way he was going to let Jason get his hands on Trinity. He stood and walked to the window.

"I'm sorry," she whispered.

"No, I'm sorry, love." He went back to her and sat down. "I didn't mean to yell. I will fix this, Trinity."

"How?"

He sighed. "Do you trust me?" They hadn't known each other very long and he knew that what he was about to ask would be hard for her, but it was the only way.

"Yes."

"I need you to give me the pictures
."

She looked at him with sheer terror. "Why?"

"I told you I'd fix this, Trinity and I will, but I need the pictures so I can." He caressed her cheek. The sight of her bruised face enraged him to the point that he knew he'd kill the bastard if that's what he had to do to keep her safe. Nobody fucked with Laszlo Cstary or his family.

CHAPTER TEN

"Ouch," Trinity said when she tried to stretch her arms. She had a couple of fractured ribs and they really hurt. Laszlo had brought her home last night…home, his house. It was surreal to call this place her home. But after soaking in his extra-large bathtub for an hour and then curling up under the soft, warm, fluffy blankets on his bed—she could get used to living here. And the fact that he'd held her all night and was so attentive each time she tried to move and whimpered in pain really helped to make her feel more comfortable. God she really hoped Laszlo could make Jason go away, because if he couldn't, she'd have no choice but to run again. And this time, she would go so far off the radar no one would ever find her.

"Good morning, beautiful," Laszlo said as he entered the room. "How're you feeling?"

She smiled. "Sore, but I definitely slept better here than I did in that hospital room."

He sat on the edge of the bed and kissed her softly. "Well, you just relax today and don't worry about anything. I've hired a nurse to check in on you and a maid to bring you meals."

Trinity was touched that he'd done all of that for her. No one had ever cared enough to take care of her like he was. She felt the familiar sting of tears but she refused to cry again.
What will I do if this mess with Jason isn't resolved? I don't want to live without Laszlo. I love him.
Whoa. That was a shocking thought. It was one she'd never allowed herself to think before. But now that she had, now that she admitted it to herself, she felt somehow liberated. It also scared her.

"I've got some good news." He smiled. "You're brother has been located and he's fine."

"He is?"

"Yeah." Laszlo licked his lips and her body, despite being sore and practically immobile, buzzed to life in that familiar way it did every time she was around him. "I'm going to have my guys keep an eye on him until I have a chance to speak to Congressman Ross."

Trinity tugged on the lapels of his suit and pulled him to her. She slanted her lips over his and slid her tongue into his mouth, loving the purely masculine taste of him. Since she'd been attacked he hadn't kissed her like that, nor had he made any attempt to touch her and she wanted him to. She craved his touch, his kiss, his warm body entwined with hers. "Do you have to go to the office today?" she whispered suggestively against his lips.

"Trinity," he groaned and kissed her a little harder than she expected.

She moaned. Yes! This was the Laszlo she wanted--the man who was hot for her, demanding yet gentle; the man who could set her ablaze with a single touch. "Please? I don't want to be here alone all day."

"You're killing me, love," he said as he stood and removed his jacket and tie.

Trinity knew she'd won when he started to unbutton his shirt. She smiled and watched as his smooth muscular chest became exposed to her. Tentatively, she reached up and trailed her finger down the length of his torso. His stomach hollowed beneath her touch and she felt her heart rate quicken.

"Are you sure about this, love?"

She met his gaze, which was intense and smoldering. "Yeah, I'm sure."

"The doctor said you should refrain from—"

"I don't care what the doctor said." She knelt on the bed and put her hands on his chest. It hurt a little, but she refused to let him know that or else he'd be sure to stop now before they even got started. And she was desperate for him.

"You have to promise me that if anything hurts you'll tell me." His hands went to his pants. He removed his belt, undid his pants, and dropped them to the floor.

"I promise," she said gazing at his hard cock with hunger. He still hesitated. "I trust you, Laszlo. I know you'll be gentle." Trinity removed the covers from her and lay back. Laszlo settled between her open legs and she was grateful that she'd decided to sleep naked last night. It made things easier right now.

His cockhead pressed against her opening. "You're wet, Trin," he said as he slowly and gently pushed into her. All of his weight was in his arms so that his upper body was not in contact with hers. "God, I love how ready you always are for me."

"Ah, Laszlo." Yes, she was wet and yes, she was eager for him. Even though it had only been a couple of days, it felt like an eternity since they'd last been together. She was sure the fear of death had a lot to do with her insatiable desire for him. One final push and he was all the way inside of her. She moaned and he began to move with slow, shallow, controlled strokes. Her fingers curled against the hard flesh of his biceps and the world exploded around her as a myriad of pleasurable sensations flooded her senses. Flashes of bright colored lights clouded her vision. Laszlo's encouraging moans and whispered words tickled her ears. His cologne took up residence in her nostrils until it was the only thing she could, or ever wanted to smell.

"Trinity, ah god, baby." His arms shook as he fought to keep his weight from crushing her. He found her lips and kissed her, his hips keeping rhythm with the undulation of his tongue in her mouth.

"Yes," she moaned, lifting her hips to meet his. A sharp pain pierced her ribs and she cried out.

Laszlo stilled instantly. "Are you okay? Did I hurt you?"

His voice was so full of compassion it tugged at her heart. "No, you didn't hurt me. I'm okay."

He remained unmoving inside of her. His gaze locked with hers. "When I found you on that floor…god, I thought I'd lost you."

"The last thing I remember was thinking about you and how I might never see—"

"Don't." He silenced her with a kiss that seared her ability to think. And then he started to move again, his cock withdrawing from her slowly only to be plunged back in just as slowly. "I love you, Trinity."

She swore she actually gasped from the unexpectedness of his declaration. He loved her? Laszlo Cstary—the man she'd fantasized about for months, the man she never dreamed would give her anything more than one incredible night of wild sex, loved her?

"I love you so much," he whispered bringing his lips down to hers again.

"I love you too," she said as her stomach tightened and her legs stiffened. She felt Laszlo swell inside of her and she knew they were both headed for an orgasm that would leave her weak and shaky. It happened every time they orgasmed simultaneously and it was a feeling she was becoming quickly addicted to.

"Fuck," he grunted and jerked inside of her.

She cried his name and clamped her legs tightly around him. Her body trembled until she couldn't stand it any longer and then she just went limp. He kissed her neck and shoulder before pulling out of her and rolling off to his back. Trinity wanted to roll over and lay her head on his chest like she used to do, but it hurt too much to be on her side.

Laszlo moved and settled beside her on an elbow. His hand rested on her stomach. "Are you sure you're okay?"

"Yes." She chuckled. "I'm better than okay." Her eyes fluttered closed and she yawned. She didn't realize how tired she was. He moved closer to her and traced her lips with his thumb. She loved it when he did that. It felt so good. "Thank you for staying," she murmured.

"I will never leave you, Trinity."

She forced her eyes open and turned her head to look at him. There was truth in what he said. She could see it in his eyes and all over his face. "You really mean that?"

"Yeah," he nodded, "I do. When I found you, I thought you were dead, Trinity and that was the most horrific thing in the world." He swallowed. "In that brief moment I knew I couldn't live without you and I don't want to." Laszlo reached behind him and fumbled in the drawer of the bedside stand. He produced a small black velvet box.

Tears sprang to her eyes and she was powerless to stop them. When he opened the box to show her the large princess cut diamond ring, she cupped her hand over her mouth and gasped. Oh god, this wasn’t really happening was it? She must be dreaming.

Laszlo took her left hand into his. "I love you, Trinity and I want to spend every moment of the rest of my life loving you. Will you marry me?"
