Damn, she needed to feel him inside. She wanted him to fill every inch and make her feel whole. The thought startled her. Where the hell had that come from?

She closed her eyes, pushing the thought away.

His hand shook slightly as he tugged her dress down over her shoulders. His warm mouth pressed against the soft hollow of her neck. Reaching back he unclasped her bra and sucked in a breath when her breast were freed from the constraining material. Absently, she wondered if he could feel her heart racing. Dipping his head, she felt his warm breath on her skin before his tongue flicked her nipple. His tongue circled slowly before his mouth fastened on her nipple, sucking gently at first. Luna threw back her head, gasping. Her hands dug into his hair and trailed down his face, her hips rocking against him impatiently as she rode his fingers.

After riding the waves of pleasure, she squirmed out of his lap, and slid to the floor of the truck, kneeling before him.  Quickly, she drove her fingers into the waistband of his jeans, undid his buttons, and pulled down the zipper. His hard cock sprung out and Luna grasped the bottom of his shaft as she lowered her mouth around the smooth, round tip. Hunter’s fingers were in her hair. She trailed her tongue up the length of him, giving him a sly grin before closing her eyes and wrapping her mouth around his thickness. She sucked his cock hard and fast. Much too soon, she felt the slight spasm and pulled away before he could come. She was nowhere near done with him.

“Jesus, I’m never going to get enough of you,” he mumbled as he slid on a condom.

Luna climbed on top of him and sheathed herself over his rock hard cock. Placing her hands behind her on his knees, she lifted her hips up and down. Hunter buried his face in her chest as she ground herself onto him. His hands grasped her ass, helping to guide her, alternating between hard and gentle. She practically whimpered, he felt so good.

Luna savored every second.

They were staring at each other, under the dim light in front of her apartment, having just gained control of their breathing and senses after another searing kiss.

“How in the hell is someone as incredible as you single?”

Luna smirked. “Who said I was single.”

Hunter’s body tensed and he looked at her for a while before speaking. His voice was rough and intense. “Not funny.”

She laughed nervously. For some reason, she found his jealousy wildly arousing. Normally that would be enough for her to walk away and never look back. She didn’t take kindly to men wanting to tie her down. “I was just teasing.”

“Are you involved with anyone else?”

“Not at the moment.”

“How can you be so flippant?” Hunter’s warm fingers glided across her skin. Her breasts rose and fell, her body responding instantly with raw need. His tongue traced her jawbone before his lips pulled gently on her earlobe.

“Lots of practice.” Her smile faded.

“Come home with me,” he said, slipping his hands around her waist. It wasn’t a question.

She almost said yes, she wasn’t thinking. Emotions had taken over, but she caught it and reined it in before it was too late.

Luna shifted on her feet. “I have to work in the morning.”

“That’s okay. I’ll drop you off. I need to wake up with you in the morning.”

A red warning light flashed before her. She needed to slow things down, they were moving way too quickly. The truth was, she wanted to wake up in his bed just as badly as he wanted her to, but it went against everything she’d been trying so hard to hold onto. No strings. No relationships.

She could have easily convinced herself she to stay insisting it was purely sexual. But she knew better. Hell, she knew better the first time she laid eyes on him.

“Maybe another time,” she said quietly. She didn’t want to go. She wanted to stay there forever.

Pain flared in his bright blue eyes, and his hands dropped to his side. Luna’s heart skidded to a stop.

Had she made the wrong choice?

Gently, he raised her chin to look into her eyes. “You will surrender to me, Luna. I’m not going to be someone you can walk away from.”

Luna blinked, trying not to meet his eyes. A twisting yearning pierced through her. What the hell was her problem? She was making too much of this. Would it really matter if she stayed the night with him? Yes, she knew it would. She could easily lose herself in Hunter and the very thought of that was like a splash of cold water to her face.

“I really have to get to bed,” Luna said, turning to open her door.

“I’ll see you tomorrow.” He leaned down and kissed her briefly before turning to leave.

“Bye.” Luna opened and closed the door, sliding the bolt lock in place. She didn’t trust herself not to run after him.

She peeked out the window, watching as he got into his truck and backed out of the parking spot. Standing rooted in her spot, she waited until his truck was out of sight before dropping into the chair.

Needing to get her mind off Hunter, she took out her cell phone and called her sister.

Chapter Eleven

Luna dreaded going over to her mother’s for dinner. They always got into an argument over something. Unfortunately, she hadn’t been over in weeks and Grayson knew how to lay the guilt on thick. So here she was, driving to her mom’s to eat burnt chicken. If her and her mom had anything in common, it was their inability to cook well.

At least it would just be the three of them. A girls’ supper, as her mom called it. Luna rolled her eyes as she turned into the familiar neighborhood.

Taking a deep breath, she hopped out of the car and made her way up the driveway. Grayson’s car was already there, of course. Before she even had a chance to knock, her mom swung the door open. A cap of curly copper hair framed her round face like a halo, and blue eyes glittered when she smiled. Even at her age, her mother still had an impish beauty about her. The wrinkles on her face just made her look more enigmatic.

New age music filtered through the room. She couldn’t argue that the ambience soothed her nerves.

She pulled her into a hug and then pushed her back, holding onto the sides of her arms. “Luna, you’re positively glowing.”

Luna stood perfectly still and tried to think of something to say. Shit, she should have known her mother would sense something different. Probably read it in her tarot cards or tea leaves.

“It’s called sunburn.” Luna shrugged her arms away and headed into the kitchen; ignoring the wall of African masks that Luna swore always watched her as she walked past. Her mother followed closely behind. Grayson looked up from the table and held up a mug. “Tea?”

Luna rolled her eyes and pulled out a chair. As if she had a choice. Ever since they were little, her mother had been pumping tea into them. It was her answer for
everything.
Happy? Let’s have tea. Sad? Nothing a cup of tea can’t fix. Good news? Break out the tea. She could go on and on.

“Grace, why didn’t you tell me your sister was in love?”

Grayson spit out her tea and fell into a coughing fit.

“I told you it’s a sunburn, not a damn glow,” Luna mumbled, pouring herself a cup of tea. She held the warm mug in her hands and had to admit, just holding the mug had a calming affect. Of course, she would never admit that to her mom.

Grayson had finally recovered and was staring at her intently with narrowed eyes. “Oh. My. God. I think you’re right, Mom. Her eyes seem to be lit from within. Why didn’t you tell me?”

Luna’s mouth hung open in disbelief. She hated that her feelings were so transparent. “Seriously? You’re going to side with her?”

“What’s his name?” Mom asked, as she flitted around the kitchen, preparing dinner.

“Even if there was a man, do you think I would tell you two?”

“Yes!” Grayson nearly screeched, bouncing up and down on her seat. “Who has finally gotten to the unflappable Luna Alexander?”

Luna ignored her sister, stood up, and opened the fridge in search of something to snack on. She pulled out a crumb cake, brought it over to the table, and cut a big chunk. Her teeth sank into the sweet goodness.

“Tell us, or I’m going to make mom get out her cards.” Grayson smiled smugly.

Her sister always knew how to push her buttons. Last thing she needed to do was encourage her nutty mother. “Fine, his name is Hunter.”

Her mother dropped what she was doing and pulled up a chair. Grayson leaned forward eagerly.

Luna wished she could wipe the goofy grin off her face, but it was impossible. Just thinking about Hunter made her feel giddy inside. She was horrified by the way her body was reacting. It was insanity and she knew it, but she was hopeless to control it, and for the first time she didn’t care about losing control.

“Where did you meet?” Grace asked.

“Remember that night I drank too much?”

Grayson nodded her head. “How could I forget?”

“We officially met that night, but I blew him off, and then we ran into each other the next day at the mall.”

“Oooh, yep it’s fate.” Grayson sat back in her chair as if that settled everything.

“You sound like Hunter.” Luna shoved more cake into her mouth.

“I’m liking the sounds of this boy more and more.” Her mom smiled.

“Well, don’t get your hopes up. It’s not serious by a long shot. We’ve just been hanging out a bit, that’s all. I’m sure it won’t last too long.”

“Seeing as you
never
hang out with guys other than Marcus, I would say it’s pretty serious for you,” Grayson said sagely.

Luna shrugged. “I’m not getting my hopes up. Just enjoying it while it lasts.”

“Mom, you really should get your cards out. Find out if he’s the
one
.”

Luna shot daggers at her sister. “Don’t even think about it. Even if that mumbo jumble was true, I prefer not to know my future.”

“She’s right. Sometimes it’s best not to know,” her mother agreed. “Just live in the moment.”

“Thank you,” Luna said. She was surprised her mother actually agreed with her for once.

“What does he look like?” Grayson asked, looking up from her phone.

She was probably texting Derrick to tell him the news. Someone had finally penetrated Luna’s walls.

Luna swiped her phone and pulled up an image she’d snapped of Hunter on one of their dates. She stared at it a moment—he appeared to be genuinely happy— before she handed the phone to her sister.

“Whoa.”

Their mother peered over at the picture. “Very handsome.”

She stood up and pulled the chicken out of the oven, causing Luna’s stomach to grumble. There was something about a home cooked meal, even if it was overcooked. Besides, that’s what gravy was for.

They helped themselves to a plate full of chicken, mashed potatoes, rolls, and corn. Luna devoured the food and got a second plate full.

“So when are we going to meet this mystery man?” Grayson asked, reaching for another roll.

“Never seems a little too soon to me.” Luna shoveled another mouthful of potatoes.

“That’s not very nice,” her mother scolded.

“I think meeting my crazy family implies that things are more serious than they actually are.” Luna shrugged.

Grayson twirled her fork on the table. Her eyes were dancing with mischief. “Maybe you could invite him to my wedding.”

Luna’s head snapped up. “You picked a date?”

“Derrick’s getting deployed again and we decided to make it official before he leaves. After the scare we had with the last deployment.”

Derrick nearly died last time, and one of the guys on the team wasn’t so lucky. Sorta put things in perspective for Grayson and Derrick. Since then, they were the sickening couple that people loved to hate.

“How soon are we talking?”

“Two weeks from Saturday. Just a small ceremony. Guys from the team, our family, and his mother.”

Luna was floored. Her twin sister was getting married! “I’m happy for you guys.” Surprisingly, she actually meant it. Her sister deserved it—happiness.

“Where’s the ring?”

“I told Derrick I didn’t want an engagement ring. I picked out an antique band that’s surrounded with emeralds and diamonds.”

Luna shook her head. Only her sister would not want an engagement ring.

Grayson scrolled through her phone and showed Luna the ring she’d picked out. It was beautiful. The stones were small, but the intricate antique design didn’t call for large stones. It looked very much like her sister. Understated beauty.

“It’s gorgeous. Remember when we were kids, we always swore we’d have a double wedding? We would dress up in Mom’s dresses and make Ethan pretend like he was marrying us to our imaginary boyfriends.”

Grayson grinned. “But we could never agree on the venue. You wanted a large affair and I wanted something small in the woods.”

“Well, looks like you got your wish.” Luna reached in and hugged her sister.

“So, are you going to invite him?”

“Maybe, I’ll think it over. I haven’t known him that long.”

“Sometimes,” Grayson placed her hand on her sisters, “all it takes is one look, and your life is completely changed forever.”

Her sister’s words shook her more than she’d like to admit. Because that was exactly how she felt about meeting Hunter. “It’s just sex,” Luna mumbled.

Grayson’s laugh filled the room. “I tried to convince myself of the same thing with Derrick. And now look at us, we’re about to jump off the deep end of happily ever after.”

Welcoming the subject change, Luna jumped on it. “Speaking of, give me the details, where’s it going to take place? And most importantly what are you going to wear?”

“We’re going to have it on the property he owns. Outside, of course. When he gets back, we’re going to start the process of having a small house built.”

“And the dress?”

“Mom’s making my dress.”

Luna’s head snapped up and she stared at Grayson like she’d lost her damn mind. Granted, her mother could sew when push came to shove, but make an actual dress? Let’s be a little realistic.

Grayson grinned in response. “Don’t worry, it’s a simple gown. I’m going to follow the Irish tradition and wear blue.”
