Waves foamed over my feet buried in the
sands. I stared at the glassy ripples as I stroked Faris’s ponytail
wrapped in red ribbon. This time I didn’t back away from the water.
No blackout threatened to knock me on my face. There were only
songbirds singing in the distance.

Raindrops fell just below my left eye. I
scanned the clouds, focusing on two white ones shaped like angels
in the sky. A rainbow-shaped cloud was spread out between them.

And then, I decided to sing along with the
birds.

About the Author

KaSonndra Leigh lives in Durham, North
Carolina. She holds the Master of Fine Arts in creative writing and
now has plenty of time to play CLUE more often. She lives
in an L-shaped house with her two sons (nicknamed the X-men), two
dogs, and a cat named Hercules. She has created a secret library
complete with fairies, Venetian plastered walls, and a desk
made out of clear blue glass. When Copper Suns Fall is her
