I lifted my hand and pressed my palm against his. Our fingers clasped.
“I don't want to be afraid anymore,” I said.
“I don't want to be alone anymore.”
His eyes filled with tears, but he smiled at me until I smiled back, so that we were both smiling and crying as we stared at each other.
We'll be fine.
I know.
We'll always be brothers.
We'll figure out how to be friends.
