I can do it.  I’m off tonight,” Zen said, walking up to them.

Angel
’s little face lit up with admiration.  But Torch did not have the same attitude.  “I don’t know you well enough to trust you with my niece.”

Well I do,” Zara spoke up.  Torch gave her a glare.  This wasn’t the first time they had disagreed about things regarding Angel.  “I have known Zen a long time and I trust him.  Plus, if he does anything to hurt or upset Angel, he knows I will break both his legs.”

Zen nodded with a smile.  “
All true.”

Torch grunted and walked off
, clearly unhappy that Zara wouldn’t bend to his will.

Zen ignored the irritable male.
“You need to work a little more on your balance and I think you will have it down better.”  He walked over to demonstrate how to stand properly.

That night Zen the Sin was Zara’s babysitter.  Who the hell would have called that one?  He wore a sweatshirt with a hoodie and sunglasses to disguise himself from the fans.  Rachel sat with them for a while too.

I’m surprised the commentators haven’t mentioned Angel,” Rachel commented, eating her popcorn.

Zen snorted.  “
Zara told them and the GCFA officials that if anyone mentioned her daughter to the press or tried to do a photo op of her, she would cut off their protruding body parts and make them eat them.”

Rachel looked at h
im to see if he was serious.  “She didn’t.”

Zen nodded his head and smiled.  They both broke out in laugher.

Angel didn’t really pay attention to the adults with her.  Her eyes were focused on her mother’s fight. When Zara body slammed a full Voltan to the floor of the cage, Angel stood and shouted, “That’s my Mom!”

Zen looked at Rachel and they both moaned.  So much for keeping Angel
’s identity under wraps.

Chapter
Nineteen

He opened the door t
o the suite and bent down to pick up his bags he had packed.  It wasn’t all of his stuff, but it was all he had time to pack and bring with him.  He would have his cousins pack the rest of his stuff and have it shipped to him.  He just couldn’t wait any longer.  He was already three weeks late in coming back.

Rachel had left him a key to Zara
’s suite at the front desk.  He refused to stay in a separate suite. Even with an impressionable child around.  If he had it his way they would be a family soon enough. Zara and Angel were all he thought about the whole time he was away.

He had wanted nothing more than to rush to be by Zara
’s side.  But he stayed to help locate suitable homes for all the halfsie children.  He also assisted in the interrogation of the handlers and others that had been arrested at the illegal circuit.  To no surprise, they discovered other illegal circuits happening.  The IDJ would have to send out more agents to uncover those.  However, it wouldn’t be him. He worked his notice with the IDJ.  They had wanted him to stay on, but he couldn’t do it.  His heart was somewhere else.  With a tall leggy Amazon that could kick his ass.
God he loved her.

He had already spoken to Rachel
.  She assured him that he would have a place on her team.  Now, he wondered if he should have waited.  What if Zara didn’t want him?  What would he do?  Where would he go?

Then he had the brilliant idea that if he moved
in, she would have a hard time kicking him out.  The whole time he was gone he called and sent both Zara and Angel little presents to remind them of him.  Trig would talk to his grandma about Zara and she was thrilled that he would finally be settling down with a wife and daughter.  His family was good like that, ready to accept the woman he loved and her child.  All that needed to be done now was to seal the deal.  So here he was.

He stopped just inside and dropped his bags.  He glanced around and wondered if he had walked into the wrong place.  He moved around the front room and noticed
there were pictures everywhere.  Pictures of Angel laughing and smiling, pictures of Angel and Zara together, pictures of Angel with Taurus and Hammer’s kids. He was most curious about the pictures of him that somehow were there.  Rachel must have given her those.  He smiled when he noticed several children’s drawings that had been framed and hung on the wall. It was more than pictures that had changed. The walls were painted a warm gold color and the furniture had been changed out to larger, more comfortable looking sofas.  It looked like a real home, their home.  Now he needed to find his family.

*****

He could hear the laughter and people talking as he neared the banquet room.  Kids were giggling and a loud man shouting for one kid to put another kid down.  He smiled.  That was definitely Hammer.  He paused at the entrance and took in the sight.

Hammer
’s kids were running around with Hammer trying to catch them and make them stop.  Zen was flirting with Lindy’s mother.  Talon and Lindy were in the corner cuddling together.  Taurus and Maya were dancing.  Rage threw Rachel over his shoulder and stormed out of the room.  Rachel laughed the whole way out.  The new fighters were looking slightly confused about all of it.  Torch glared at him from across the room.  Trig ignored the man.

Angel was smiling and playing with Maya
’s kids until she spotted him.  Her whole face lit up with pure joy.  “Trig!”  She jumped up from the floor and ran to him across the room.  She didn’t hesitate, she leapt the rest of the way.  Trig caught her and spun her around, laughing.

Hey there, sunshine.  Did you miss me?”

Every day.”

She wrapped her little arms around his neck and gave him a hug.  Trig squ
eezed her back.  He closed his eyes for a moment just appreciating how precious this little girl had become to him.  He wanted to give her the whole world. He gave her a quick kiss on her cheek and placed her back on the ground.  He stood back up and searched the room until his eyes finally found the one he sought.

Their eyes connected and there was an immediate awareness
.  Everything else around them seemed to fade into the background.  They made their way closer and closer.  She was wearing a red halter dress that showed off her arms and legs.
Damn, his woman was hot.

Sorry I took so long,” he said when they were about an arm length away.

I’m glad you are finally here.  Is everything settled then?”

Not quite.”

She frowned as she watched him go down to one knee.  There were gasps all throughout the room.  Zara st
ill didn’t understand.  “Trig?”

Zara, will you do me the honor and agree to become my wife?”

Oh shit!
He was asking her to marry him.  Right here in front of everyone.

They stared at one another and then Zara
kneeled down and flung herself into his arms.  She claimed his lips in front of everyone around them.

Is that a yes?” he asked between kisses.

It’s a hell yes!” she told him, taking his breath away with another long searing kiss.

Yuck!  That is too much PDA!” Zen shouted, making everyone laugh.

Zara pulled back
, laughing and smiling.  She looked up into Trig’s eyes.  “I love you, Trig.”

I love you, too.”

It wasn
’t the end for them—it was only the beginning.  They stood up and he took Zara’s hand then reached to pick up Angel with his other since she had come to stand next to him when he was asking Zara to marry him.  “Let’s go home.”

Epilogue

“For the love of God, put that kid down!” Hammer yelled at his nine-year-old nephew, Tomas.  Tomas had decided he wanted to show off his Biclops abilities and started to pick up all the kids present.  It was driving Hammer up the wall.

Man, you need serious help with those three,” Zen commented.

No shit!” Hammer glared at Zen, finding his comments unhelpful.

Just saying.  Isn’t Lauren old enough to help out?”

She is thirteen and is stuck in the selfish teenage world of it's all about ‘me…me…me’.”

Whoa.  You sound like you are about to have a break down, my friend.”

Sorry.  Another nanny quit.  I swear the agency is sending lazy good-for-nothing people.  This one barely lasted a week.”

Zen smiled
.  He knew the nannies weren't the problem.  The kids were deliberately sabotaging and torturing the nannies.  He thought it was pretty funny himself.  Most of them were sour faced and prejudice against halfsies.  What the kids really needed was for Hammer to find a good woman.  However, since Hammer took custody of his two nieces and nephew after his sister’s accident, the male’s social life had been non-existent.

I might have to try another agency.”

Hey, I think I know an agency.  Do you want me to put in an ad for ya?  I could help interview them too.”

Hammer looked at Zen in shock
.  “Yeah, if you could do that I would really appreciate it.  I’d owe you one.”

No problem at all.  Leave it all to me, my friend.”  Zen rubbed his hands together with a wicked gleam in his eyes.
This was going to be fun.

Katieran Prime Book One

“We have a security breach in the interview room!” The lieutenant sounded out of breath.

I’m on my way!”  He looked at Ren and knew he had heard about the breach.  Ren nodded that he was coming too.

The two men turned to run at full speed toward the hotel ballroom that was being used to conduct the inter
views.  As soon as they burst through the double doors, they both came to a screeching halt.  They were unprepared for what met their eyes.

About
fifteen Earth females stood cowering against the walls of the interview room.  That wasn’t what caught their immediate attention.  Near the center of the room were six Earth females standing in a tight circle, with one lone female standing in the center of the protective circle.  The female seemed to be swaying slightly.

Katieran warriors surrounded the circle of
Earth females, giving commands to the females to calm themselves, to which the Earth females responded by shouting back at the warriors to shove something up. . .  Ren wasn’t exactly up on Earth vernacular.  One female, with a brunette braid falling midway down her back and dressed in Earth’s warrior attire, seemed more aggressive.  As two Katieran warriors advanced towards her, the female warrior took them both down to the floor.

Ren looked at his brother
, who seemed just as shocked as he was.

By the fiery flames of Kitana, what is happening here?”  The commander looked at the nearest lieutenant who was sweating fiercely.  “Why are the females acting this way?”

The lieutenant looked at both the Prime Leader and the Prime Commander and hated that he was th
e one having to explain the situation.  “Prime Commander, those seven females came in right at the end of the interview session.  The medics had been dismissed, so the females were not given the translators.  We tried to explain the interviews were over, but they did not understand without the translators.”

The lieutenant continued, “
We noticed right away the female in the middle of the circle was breeding and seemed very sick.  We tried to get her to come with us to have the medics check her out.  She did not understand and feared us.  The female warrior took a protective stance and the other five females joined her and formed a protective circle.  The female breeding looks to be in very bad shape.”

Ren could barely make out the female in the circle
’s center.  She was wearing a large jacket and had covered her head with a hood.  But he could smell her.  She had the extra hormones associated with breeding.  She smelled like the sweetest flowers grown in Katiera’s well-groomed gardens.  He liked the way she smelled.

Warriors, report!” Commander KydEL yelled.  All the warriors presented themselves before the Prime Commander.  Kyd stared into the light brown eyes of the female warrior before he turned his attention to his warriors.  He touched the comm link attached to his ear to call the medics back to the interview room immediately with seven translators.

He assigned
each warrior the responsibility of carefully subduing a female while the medics administered the translators.  Kyd planned to subdue the female warrior himself, since none of his lieutenants wanted the task.  Ren would be responsible for reaching the female breeding and ensure her safety.

All Katierans held the health and safety of females and children
to be of the highest importance.

As the medics
arrived with the translators, each warrior took a spot in front of a female.  Kyd stood in front of the female warrior.  His six foot eight towered over her five foot five height.  He liked that she was much smaller than he was.  He gave her an arrogant smile that made her respond by sticking out her tongue at him.  His sex instantly hardened.
Damn female
.

Ren stood back behind the warriors but kept himself at a slight angle so he could keep his eyes on the female in the center of the circle.  The other f
emales were yelling words that didn’t quite translate to Katieran.  Ren wasn’t sure that was a good sign.

The Commander let out a loud shrill whistle, which was the signal for the warriors to move.  As one, the warriors surged forward, each one grabbing ho
ld of a female and dragging her away from the circle.  The warriors wrapped their arms carefully, but tightly, around each female, holding their arms down by their sides.

Ren held
his hands up non-threateningly as he approached the frail female.  He could smell her panic.  She only stood about five foot three.  She shivered and looked very pale.  She looked up at him as he neared and turned in an attempt to run, but she lost her footing.  She started to fall.

Ren
acted quickly as he rushed forward to catch the female in his arms.  The hood fell off her head to reveal long, red hair.  It was as flaming red as Katiera’s second sun.  Beautiful hair.  He lifted her easily into his arms and pulled her gently against his chest.  She looked into his eyes and his breath caught.  She had light green eyes.  They were a shade lighter than the Waters of Katiera, and just as beautiful.

The female struggled to get free
, which was pointless, he was too strong.  It was all too much for the weakened female.  She soon fell unconscious in his arms.  Worry for the female’s well-being consumed him.  He yelled for the medics.
