You’re making Zeus happy. Okay, I’ll deal with whatever I have to. So, tell me, what’s going on with you and Hades lately? No one tells me anything.”

“I have stayed away from him because I never want to go through what you have. If I ever doubted my decision to stay alone, I’ll never doubt it again. You can have enough kids for all of us. We’ll be the best aunties ever and never miss being mothers.”

Sierra was speechless. She finally managed to ask a question but it was one of the million running through her mind. “What about sex?”

“My boyfriend is electronic. He never hurts me and he’s always in the mood when I am.”

“You’re hilarious, Doc. I know you turn to live lovers once in awhile. Now that you’ve known Hades, will you ever be able to be with someone else again?”

“Sure, what does he have to do with anything?”

“Maybe I misread your relationship with him, but once I met Zeus, I couldn’t stand the thought of another male touching me. Maybe that’s why it hurt so much to see that bitch’s hands on him.”

“It’s not the same thing, Sierra. I hardly know Hades.”

“Okay, Doc. Just keep telling yourself it’s different and that he doesn’t affect you that way.”

“It’s true, he doesn’t mean a thing to me.”

“I think the lady protests too much.” Doc reached out and smacked Sierra on the ass.

“Get out of here you trouble maker.” Sierra stuck her tongue out at her making Doc laugh. It reminded her of when they were young. She took off to her room feeling the sudden need to rest.

She woke up to a warm hands stroking her belly. “I didn’t notice this baby bump last night.” Zeus said playfully.

“She’s growing fast but not that fast.”

“She already knows you and me, what we are to her.”

“That’s impossible.”

“Is it?” Zeus lay down with her curling his body protectively around her. He rubbed her arms and her belly soothing her back to sleep.

Two weeks passed in the blink of an eye for Sierra because she was tired and slept often. It was the morning the
gods were leaving for the rescue missions and she didn’t even care because she was too tired to go. The baby had continued to grow at an alarming rate and her stomach now looked like it held a basketball. Even Doc was amazed at the accelerated growth in the final stage before birth. She had told Sierra and Zeus, who now accompanied her on every scheduled doctor’s visit, that the baby could come any time now. Sierra didn’t care, she just wanted to sleep. Doc encouraged her, thinking it was the best way to deal with the stress on her body caused by the baby’s needs.

Sierra was aware they were leaving soon. “I could stay with you. What if the baby comes?” Zeus asked with a nervous expression.

“What can you do if she does come? I have Doc to help me so I’ll be fine. All I’ll do while you’re gone is eat and sleep.”

“That’s true, but if I stayed
, you could add have sex to that list.”

“Don’t tempt me to keep you here with me.” Sierra said thinking about the incredible sex they had enjoyed since they had gotten back together. He had been an enthusiastic lover, a protective mate, and the perfect confidante for all her pregnancy issues. He had listened patiently, rubbed her feet or her back depending on what hurt worse then kissed her until she forgot anything hurt at all.

“I’ll be back as soon as we get our brothers freed. I’ll call to give you updates so you won’t worry. We’re leaving now so we’ll get back sooner.” He smiled at her but she could see his concern as his eyes dropped to her stomach. He leaned over giving her a soul shattering goodbye kiss before he headed out of the room. She missed him as soon as he left but only until she fell asleep.

“Sierra, wake up.” Doc shook her slightly to wake her.

“I’m so tired, can I sleep some more?”

“No, Sierra. I think you’re in labor. I’m not sure when it started but I need to get you to medical right now.”

“I think I would know if I was in labor.” Sierra said then she doubled over. “Damn, what was that?”

“Labor pains, Mama. Let’s get you up and over to medical.” Doc helped her up and they walked down the hall to medical. She helped her onto the hospital bed and got her comfortable.

“You’re going to have a baby soon. Your water hasn’t broke yet, but your contractions are getting closer together. I think it will be a while judging by how things have been going but I can’t be sure of anything.”

Way came in to check on her. “I’ve heard from Zeus. The
y’re getting in place for the rescue. I told him you were in labor and he was upset that he wasn’t here with you.”

“I told him to go. There’s not much he could do here and he needs to free the rest of his brothers.”

“How about you? Are you okay?” Way wanted to know.

“Other than feeling tired and occasional piercing pain shooting through me, I’m great.”

“You need some water?” Doc asked holding out a glass of it for her. She grabbed it sipping only enough to wet her terribly dry mouth.

“Thanks. I wish the other girls were here too.”

“I know, Pris will be so mad she missed the birth of her first niece.” Doc said smiling.

“All of them will be mad but what can you do when you are giving birth to a goddess and you have to follow her schedule?”

“The contractions seem to have stopped.” Doc said. “This will be a long night.” Doc and Way got comfortable for a long wait.

A soft groan rumbled out of her throat as a painful contraction hit out of the blue. She felt moisture between her thighs but not enough to be her water breaking. How embarrassing, wonder
ing what it was. Doc woke up and stood next to her.

“Anything wrong? Is it just a contraction?”

“Isn’t that enough? I do feel a little wet but not enough to be my water breaking.” Sierra admitted turning pink with embarrassment.

“Let me check you out.”

Sierra spread her legs when Doc raised her sheet to look under it. Doc was making noises that made her nervous. “What does mm mean?”

“Your plug has fallen out. There’s a little blood but if anything less than usual. Now we just keep an eye on you, your water breaking will be next.”

“I wish my little goddess would hurry. I’ve already had enough.”

“They come when they’re ready and not a moment before.” Doc advised with a smile.

“Oh, shit! That one hit hard.”

“They are growing closer together but it could still be a while.”

Way was still asleep. Clearly too tired to bother until it was closer to time. Doc and Sierra sat talking for hours about the days of their youth, the people they both knew, and finally about the gods themselves. Sierra knew Doc wasn’t immune to Hades nor did she believe Way was immune to Apollo. It wasn’t really her business, but she was sure they would eventually give in to the attraction the gods put forth.

“Doc, I think I need you.” Sierra said with an edge of panic to her tone.

“What’s wrong?”

“This time I felt a flood of wetness.”

“Let me check.” She said as she pulled back the sheet, Sierra opened her legs., and Doc looked in. “It looks like your water broke. We have a baby on the way.”

“Are you sure?”

“Let’s not get spooked now. We’ve made it all the way to this point and we’re almost done now. Where’s my big tough captain that kicks ass and takes names?”

“She took off for parts unkno
wn leaving this wimpy mama behind.”

“You’ve never been wimpy a day in your life.”

“Then it’s about time I have the chance to be. It’s starting to hurt really bad.”

“Let me check you again.” She looked one more time for whatever mysterious signs doctors look for.
“If a contraction hits again, push. You’re fully dilated and ready to go.”

“Oh, God, Doc.” She groaned as she pushed really hard. She felt sweat run down her face which felt really hot. The sharp pains from the contraction ranked right up there with breaking a bone or getting shot. Contractions were hitting close together the pain urging her to push to get this little squatter out into the world.

“I’m going to cut you to make it easier. She’s having a hard time getting out.” The sting of the scalpel as Doc opened her up was probably not as bad as the pain of having the baby tear her open would have been. “Push really hard.”

So Sierra pushed until the strain made her hurt all over. “Her head is out.” Doc said grabbing the nose syringe to clean the baby’s nose. “Push again with all you’ve got so the shoulders will clear.”

Sierra pushed like her life depended on it because she wasn’t sure if the babe didn’t come now, if she would have anything left to give. “She’s beautiful, Sierra.” Doc said and she heard her daughter cry. Doc had wiped her off quickly before laying the squalling bundle of joy on Sierra’s stomach. Deep gold eyes stared back at her with a look so like her father Zeus that Sierra’s breath caught in her throat. A full head of raven locks curled around her head. Her little bowtie lips pressed together as if waiting for the slightest thing to set her off. The world had never seen a more beautiful baby and never would. She held her in her arms knowing there was nothing she wouldn’t do for this tiny life.

She moved her baby to her breast to feed her for the first time.
The baby latched on feeding hungrily her eyes rolling back in her head from the pleasure of the ‘all you can eat buffet’ she enjoyed while she was held in her mother’s loving arms. Doc came and took the baby to lay down for a nap so Sierra went to take a shower so she could put on clean clothes and feel more herself. She went to her room getting stripped and in the shower quickly. The warm water washed away the blood and grunge from giving birth and lying in a hospital bed for hours. She dressed in comfortable clothes then hurried back to her baby.

She heard yelling as she
got close to medical. Once she got in the door she saw Kyler yelling at Doc. “You better tell me where Sierra is and whose baby this is.”

“Nothing that goes on in medical is any of your business.” Doc yelled right back.

“Hey, Doc. What’s going on over here? I got a call that a loud argument was taking place. Kyler, what are you doing here?”

His face was red with anger as he turned to face her. He said through clenched teeth, “I heard you gave birth. If it’s true, that is my baby.”

Sierra laughed. “Do I look like I just gave birth? Have I even looked pregnant and watch how you answer that because I would be offended.”

He looked unsure now when presented with a logical argument.
“Maybe not, but if not you, than who?”

“What makes you think you can make demands in a facility run by gods?
What makes who has children or if anyone has children, your business?”

“You know they can’t run things themselves. That’s why my team is still here, we’ll jump in and run things when it all goes to hell. These guys are clueless, they can’t manage to take care of themselves because they’ve never had to.
I told Mark things are shaky here. They will beg for help from us especially when that ball they have planned doesn’t work out.”

“Why wouldn’t it work out? Do you know something I don’t?”

“No, of course not. What makes you think I would know anything? I’m just saying it’s a complicated affair to pull off and I don’t think they’ll manage then I’ll take over.” She got the feeling Kyler was lying to her.

“Are you crazy, Kyler? This is their
facility, their property. You’re never going to be in charge here.”

“I will be and sooner than you think
.” After that he shut up and stomped out of medical. Sierra had a feeling he was up to no good. He was enough of an egomaniac that he would get off on being in charge of the gods. He would be a petty dictator leaving them no better off than they had been with Origin. Why he was talking to Mark who was her boss not his, made no sense either. She had no choice but to assign a god to keep a closer eye on Kyler. If he was being watched properly, he would never have made it to medical or even heard about the baby.

Now that Kyler had left, Doc locked the door so she could stay in the room with her baby. She needed to move to the second floor where Kyler and team weren’t allowed, but she didn’t want to be seen doing it.
Having Kyler around was becoming a nightmare that she was tired of dealing with. It would be at least twelve hours, maybe even twenty four before Zeus would be back to see his daughter. After that a plan needed to be made to get rid of Kyler before he caused a problem they couldn’t deal with. Her baby was in her arms making her feel hopeful for a better future for her daughter as a goddess than what her father had had as a god.

She spoke to
Agnon on the com since she knew him and he hadn’t gone on the mission. He came to medical with five other gods to run interference keeping Kyler and his team out of the way while she moved her to the second level where Lucifer had a room prepared. Agnon took the baby while Sierra headed in the direction of where Kyler and his crew were. It wasn’t too surprising when she intercepted Kyler and Brenda heading toward medical where Agnon had just left.

“Hey, Kyler, Brenda. Where are you guys going in such a hurry?”
