“Oh no.” CC shakes her head back and forth. “Go get the keys right now or I’m cutting you off.”

I laugh. “You sure you’re in a position to be making those threats?”

“Hunter!”

I sit up and look behind me. “After I free you I need you to get a shower and get dressed. I want to take you to dinner and do a little gambling.”

CC shifts and runs her toes up my back. “And what if I don’t want to leave this room.”

“Then I can’t be held responsible for what happens.”

She smiles coyly, “I think I’ll take my chances.”

“I like the way you gamble.”

It’s so nice to have the extra help now that Mason is in his off season. Life seems more manageable and enjoyable. He gets to see some of the first things that the babies do. I’m not stuck sending him video clips of Alexis falling asleep in her high chair or of Caleb rolling over to get to the toy that he wanted. I felt like I was only living half my life without my other half. Don’t get me wrong, I love my babies to death, but when you’ve always had someone to fall back on, it’s not easy to do it by yourself.

Those sleepless nights, those days where all the babies do is cry and nothing you can do soothes them, the nights where one wants to sleep and the other thinks it’s play time or even the time they decided that mom could handle them teething at the same time. Those are the times that I hate Mason’s job.

I know all I have to do is pick up the phone, and believe me I have a time or two, but I don’t want to burden anyone. MacKenzie is dealing with her own family, Jaylinn is busy with her life and the club, Chloe is trying to get pregnant and I don’t want to stress her out and Elle is always more than willing but she’s busy with MacKenzie. My mother is out of the question as well as my sister Tara. They both made their beds and now can lay in them. I tried, damn it, did I try but fuck them. After all the shit they put me through I’ll be damned if I hold out a hand and try to bridge our relationship. Does it hurt me? Hell yes, but what can I do? Nothing, absolutely freaking nothing! I have days where I wish Elle was my mom but if I can’t have her as my real mom, a mother-in-law will work just as well. She loves Caleb and Alexis, calls every few days to check on them, she always buys them something even when they don’t need it. But my mom, ha, I don’t even think she knows her grandkids’ names.

“Boo,” Mason says running his fingertips up my arm. “You have that look on your face.”

Looking at my fiancé I push all the hate for my mom to the back of my mind. I only have him with us for a few months and I promised myself I wasn’t going to let anything ruin that time together. “Sorry, baby.”

He kisses me on the lips and wraps his big strong hand around my neck. I open my mouth and his tongue meets mine and everything melts away. I love that his touch consumes me. I forget about everything in these stolen moments when the house is quiet and it’s just the two of us. Even if it’s only for five minutes. As long as we have this it makes everything else bearable.

Mason breaks the kiss too quickly. “Marry me, Hails.”

I sigh leaning back against the couch. He’s been asking me every day for the last month. He wants to get married before the season starts, if we don’t we have to wait another year. It’s not that I don’t want to marry him, I do, but my head just isn’t in it. I haven’t lost all the baby weight and I’m carrying around this pouch on my stomach that makes me feel like a kangaroo. I don’t know if I can mentally handle planning a wedding with the twins taking up all my time. Who’s going to walk me down the aisle? I won’t let that piece of shit dad of mine anywhere near me or my family. I could ask my future father-in-law but I feel weird about it. As I sit here and let my mind wander I realize that Andrew Cahill is the only father figure that Chloe, Jaylinn, Hunter, and I have. Yeah, we all have dads but they’re all fucked up in their own ways. It’s weird but it makes me smile knowing I’m not the only one.

“What’s got that smile on your face?” Mason asks with a frown on his face. Just as quickly as it was there it’s gone. Mason hardly ever lets his emotions show but I saw it for the briefest moment. I caused it and I hate myself for it. I’m selfish; all I think about is me, me, me when it comes to this wedding.

I straddle Mason and what starts out as a grin morphs into a sexy smile that gets my heart all worked up. “I’ll marry you.”

“Now?” Mason grips onto my hips and brings me closer to him. “We can just elope. I’ll book us the first flight to Vegas and be married by the end of the night.”

“Slow down there, Mase.” I smile and lay my head on his shoulder and inhale him. It’s my favorite smell in the whole world. It makes me feel safe, protected, loved. “I want a wedding. I want Kenz to be my matron of honor. I want Jay and Chloe in it too. I want Ryder and Alex to be the ring bearers.” I take a deep breath. “I don’t want something huge but a little something. Just us and those close to us.”

I can feel Mason smiling against my cheek. He runs his hands up and down my back. He hasn’t said anything and if I’m being honest it’s making me a little nervous. I sit up and gaze into his beautiful eyes. “Say something.” I whisper.

“New Year’s Eve.” Mason looks off into the distance. “It’s perfect.”

“Mase, that’s exactly two weeks away.” I retort. It’s not possible to throw a wedding together that fast. Is it?

“Do you trust me?” His eyes find mine and he knows the answer before they even leave my lips.

“With our babies’ lives.” He reaches up and tucks a piece of hair behind my ear.

“Is there anything besides the basics of a wedding you want?”

My insides start to shake as I start to mentally make a list of everything that needs to happen to pull this wedding off. “Mason...”

He places a finger on my lips keeping me from telling him it’s impossible for us to pull this off. “Just tell me what you want and leave it up to me.” Mason looks past me for a second, his mind going a mile a minute. “Black and white wedding,” he shrugs. “kind of goes with New Year’s.”

I think about it for a second. That’s easy enough for the guys and the girls can find a black dress anywhere. I nod. “Yeah,” a smile creeps across my face as Mason’s lights up.

“Small intimate wedding, twenty people or so, the kids,” he winks. “Mom and dad can take them overnight.”

“Black tie wedding, New Year’s Eve, family, it’s absolutely crazy,” I wrap my arms around his neck, my forehead rests against his, and kiss him with everything that I am, that I have to offer him. When I pull away I smile so big that it hurts my cheeks. “And perfect for us.”

“Let me show you what else is perfect for us.” Mason runs his hands down my back and then my shirt is gone. Mason slides off the couch and lays me on the floor where he removes my pants and panties.

He lies down beside me, his hand sliding down to my throbbing sex. He gently strokes me, sliding a single finger over my clit coating it with the affect he has on me. Mason brings his finger to his lips and sucks it. I can’t help the groan that escapes me.

“I don’t have time to go slow, baby.” Mason says kissing my shoulder. “The babies will be up soon but tonight.” Mason dips a finger into me and I cry out. “I’m taking my time with you.”

“God, please, Mase…”

Mason lays down and removes his basketball shorts then climbs over me. He positions himself over me, propping himself up on his elbows. His fit and toned body is warm against mine. His cock is at my entrance. He’s not pushing in just yet but smiling down at me, it’s breathtaking.

“You’re beautiful.”

“Shut up and make love to me.”

He chuckles and in the next second he thrusts inside me. I cry out and Mason quickly covers it with his mouth. As he makes love to me, his tongue makes love with mine too. Clinging to Mason as he pulls out and pushes in sends a shiver through me.

He continues sliding in and out of me hitting that sweet spot, building me higher and higher until I’m begging him for my release.

“Damn, Mase.” I moan.

He slows his speed, gently rocking in and out of me. It’s a game to him, his love making is hot, loud and messy, and he never disappoints. I rake my nails down his back and he groans loudly. Mason reaches down and lifts my leg over his hip and I do the same with the other. The tempo picks up again as my nails bite into his skin and the heels of my feet dig into his ass encouraging him on.

Mason’s mouth finds my nipple and roughly bites down on it causing me to drive full speed over the edge. “Oh…fuck…” Screaming I convulse around him as my orgasm rocks my body.

Groaning, his release takes over him. His movements slow as his head rests on my shoulder. “Damn…” He says breathlessly.

We both lay there catching our breaths and letting our heartbeats return to normal before he pulls out of me. He lies down on his back and I curl my body around his.

I flash of panic sets in, “You didn’t use a condom.” I sigh in relief quickly counting the days since my last period and realize that we should be fine.

He smiles. “How do you know I didn’t?”

I trace his nipple with my finger. “I can feel it.”

“Is that a problem?” He looks down to me. “We’re getting married, we already have two kids, a house and are set in life for a while.”

“But you have super sperm. What if I get pregnant again?” We never talked about having more babies down the road since having the twins.

Mason shrugs. “I don’t think we’re ready to have another baby but if it happens it happens and we’ll be on our way to having a baseball team of Cahills.”

“You don’t care?”

“Nope. Anything else?”

I smile, a blissful, happy, full of life, smile. One that makes your toes curl when they meet the warm sand on the beach. The bright one that shines likes a rainbow after a rainfall. The one when you bite into a piece of chocolate after a long stressful day. And there are only three people in this world who can make me smile like this and one of them is staring at me.

“One last thing.”

Mason raises his eyebrows.

“Chocolate milk.”

He laughs and it’s the best sound in the world. My heart melts for this man. I may have had a shitty childhood, that no one deserves, but my future is and will continue to make up for that. I have everything I’ll ever need in life with Mason and the twins by my side.

Did I bite off more than I can chew? Knowing me, I probably did. I’ve been calling around all afternoon looking for a place to have our wedding. Every place I’ve called is booked. There has to be something. I bring Google back up on my phone and call the next place.

After Hailey agreed to marry me New Year’s Eve she called MacKenzie. I swear the people in fucking China could hear my sister screaming. Before I could even get a chance to call Hunter and tell him I get a text message from him that said, “I guess we’ve got plans on New Year’s?” I replied back and said it looked that way. I also asked him to be my best man. I didn’t feel right picking between my brothers. Cooper probably should have been it but to me it didn’t seem fair to Jackson.

I called both my brothers but it seems I’m a little too slow and they both already knew. They’re excited for us and, of course, Jackson had to bust my balls about it taking long enough.

“Good Afternoon Midnight Atlantic, Amanda speaking.” A pleasant voice answers the phone.

In a daze it takes me a second to realize what the hell I’m doing. I clear my throat. “Hello Amanda, my name is Mason Cahill.” I swear I hear her gasp but shake the thought away. “I was wondering if by any chance the venue is open on New Year’s Eve for a wedding. I know it’s last minute but I’m willing to pay extra.”
