“I am deeply committed to you. I can’t think of anything else I would like better,” she said. She let her lips press against the corner of his mouth, making him moan.

“Can I ask you a question? And I want you to be honest with me,” he said, watching her with a piercing look.

“What?”

“What made you change your mind?”

Arielle knew this would come up, and she knew she had to make whatever she said sound good. She didn’t want him to remove her necklace and find out about Matt.

“Do you really want to know?”

“Absolutely,” he said. “You had me convinced that you were going to abstain from making love until we were married, no matter how tormenting it had become for both of us.”

“It’s really very simple,” she said, carefully choosing her words. “I pondered that question in my mind for more than a couple of months while you were gone.” She paused as if thinking it over again, and then added, “I’m in love with you, Darcy, and there is never going to be another man for me. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I couldn’t think of a single good reason to keep my commitment.”

“Well, you are the most exciting woman I have ever met,” he said. “And I’m certainly glad you changed your mind.” He rolled over on top of her again and crushed her lips beneath his as his arms encircled her again and held her tight. His body was warm and exciting, and it took him but a minute to send her once again into complete rapture.

Chapter 6

F
or two days, they didn’t leave the room. It was the most pleasurable weekend Arielle had ever had, and she knew Sebastian felt the same way. Sunday morning, he ordered room service and after eating they decided to take a walk along the beach. It was a beautiful day. They walked on the warm sand together as they had before, arms around each other. Arielle talked nonstop about everything and anything, often making him laugh out loud with delight.

“You make me so happy!” he said. “I just want to spend my life doing nothing else but making sure that you are incredibly happy with me.”

Arielle smiled and stood up on her toes to kiss him. Her lips were sore from their wild lovemaking the night before, but that didn’t stop her from kissing him again.

“Can I ask you something?” she asked as they strolled along, hand in hand.

“Sure, anything,” he smiled.

“You said earlier that I was the most sexual woman you have ever known. How many women are we talking about?” It bothered her a bit, thinking about all the women that had been in his arms before her.

“I’m not going to discuss this with you now,” he said gently. “That was a very long time ago, actually centuries ago, and there is no particular person that I would care to chat about.”

“But there must be a number in your head. Give me an approximate number.”

He was quiet and she couldn’t read his face. “Are you angry with me?” she asked when she still didn’t get an answer.

“No, but I really don’t want to talk about something that is absolutely of no importance to me. All I care about is you—from now until eternity.”

He put his arm around her and stopped her from protesting by pressing his lips on hers. “Please stop,” he said. “Let’s not discuss this anymore. I love you and only you.”

Arielle dropped the subject even though she was not satisfied with his response. Her curiosity was entirely based on jealousy. The thought that Sebastian had touched another woman the same way he had touched her was driving her absolutely crazy. She refused to believe that he had provided that same amazing sexual experience to any another woman on this earth but her. How many girls had he fallen in love with? How many of them had been serious relationships? And why had they ended? Would some of the women be coming back to claim him, as Annabel and Savanna had done?

He
was
an amazing lover, a man who knew exactly what to do to make a girl writhe in his hands. If she had been one of those girls that he had left behind, she was sure that she would be looking for him for centuries to come. How many of them would she have to face up to? She was getting very stressed and, pressing her lips together, she tried to force herself to relax.

She was so completely lost in her thoughts that when he spoke again, his voice startled her. His breath was warm against her ear, sending ripples of excitement through her.

“Where are you, Arielle? Do I need to take that necklace off?”

She reached up, kissed him gently, and sighed deeply. “I’m just so jealous,” she murmured.

He pulled her around to face him; his hands slipped under her shirt and moved over her skin softly, raising goosebumps on their path. He bent down and kissed her hard, as his hands explored her body. She indulged in the heat and in her enjoyment of the sensuous planes of his beautiful body.

“Arielle,” he whispered. “We are destined to be together for eternity. I have looked for you for over five centuries, and now that I’ve found you, I’ll never let you go. I can’t breathe without you, baby.” His voice was throaty, and he was gasping again. “I can’t imagine a future without you. I’m yours and you’re mine for eternity. If you love me, please trust in me, and just love me.”

She looked into his amazing emerald eyes and held his gaze. Lifting her hands she cupped his face, and rising onto her tippy toes, she pressed her lips on his hungrily. “I do love you, Sebastian, I will love you forever,” she breathed against his lips.

“That’s all I’m asking from you,” he said, and the kiss deepened. His arms snaked around her once again, and he pulled her even closer. They stood there holding each other, lost in each other’s thoughts, as their breaths fused and the rest of the world faded away.

She finally pulled back, and taking a deep breath, she took a step back. Reaching over she placed her hand in his and they started to walk again. Arielle continued talking about all the trivial things regarding school, her roommates, and everything she had done in the weeks he was gone. The attempted rape was lingering somewhere in the back of her mind, but she didn’t bring it up and she was glad he couldn’t read her thoughts. He was smiling again, pleased with their conversation. Late in the afternoon they got back to the hotel, giving him enough time to pack again and make the drive to the airport.

The drive to the airport was hard, and so familiar by now. She was depressed beyond comforting, and no matter how hard he tried to lift her mood he didn’t succeed. She was crying now, asking him to stay.

“Leaving you this time is harder than ever,” he said. Please don’t make it any harder for me. I need to see your smiling face before I get on that plane.”

He reached over, pulled her close, and kissed her with a burning desire. The salt from her tears made him crazy. “I’m not sure I’ll be able to make it without you, but I have to try,” he said. “I need to get back to work. There are still a lot of outstanding issues from my trip to New Zealand to resolve. And you have school.”

She gazed into his gorgeous eyes with love and kissed him with longing. “Please hurry back,” she said.

“We’ll talk on the phone every day, and I’ll be back before you know it. I can’t stay away from you,” he said with a smile.

She watched him walk through the doors with his familiar, seamless stride. Before disappearing from sight, he turned around and winked at her, giving her the smile that he knew she loved more than anything. She could see his lips move, saying, “Miss me!” He was her dream, her eternal love, and now he was gone again in the blink of an eye. It was almost like a bad scene from a movie, stuck in the same place, the airport, being played over and over again.

She watched the plane take off, turned around, and walked towards her car with a broken heart.
God, I already miss him so much!
she thought.
How will I bear being away from him?

She had promised her parents that she would stop by the house after she had dropped Sebastian at the airport and have dinner with them. Her father was in good spirits and they talked for a little while before dinner.

“How did Sebastian do with the emergency?” he asked.

“We really didn’t talk about that, so I’m not sure what happened,” she said. “He might tell you next time he’s here. Did you have a good time together?”

“Yes, we spent a lot of time with our friends, going out to dinner and the cinema,” she said. She didn’t think she would ever be ready to talk about their intimate weekend with her father.

“Dinner’s ready,” her Mum called. They had a great time discussing school and her upcoming exams. Following dinner, Arielle went up to her room to get a few things she needed to take back to the flat. Then she thanked her parents for a great dinner and headed out.

Sebastian’s thoughts were somewhat more peaceful than Arielle’s. He got on the plane and sat quietly staring out the window until the clouds made the city disappear from his eyes. He closed his eyes and recalled the days he had spent with Arielle, as if by telling himself the story again he could relive every moment, up until their sweet farewell. He vividly recalled holding her close against him, lifting her face to his, and piercing through her sapphire eyes. He wanted to feel the warmth of her body and the softness of her skin one more time before boarding the plane. He ached from the pain of leaving her behind. He thought about how he had kissed the tears on her face and had tasted the salt that gave him a true feeling of her emotions. He had told her how much he loved her and how much he would miss her as he sealed her luscious lips with his.

He pushed his seat back and tried to remember the details of her beautiful face in his mind.
God
, he thought,
I love her with every part of my existence, every thought that occupies my very soul
.

Making love to her was an experience that had shaken him to his very core. In the last five centuries, following the experiences he had shared with countless women, he had never felt such excitement, fulfillment, and pleasure. He was startled by the ecstasy of the moment when they had fused together. It had been everything he had dreamed of and longed for, and more, much more.

She had been so soft, so warm, and so pure! He moaned quietly, reliving the moment. He felt hot all over again and he wanted her—now! Making love to her was an unbelievable and completely new experience for him, experienced as he was.

I used to be so in control before I met her, he thought. Never had he felt so out of control, but also so blissful. He broke into a smile that made him feel warm all over. She has put a spell on me, he thought. This attraction, this desire, is beyond anything I’ve ever felt before. All I want to do is to love her, protect her, and spend every waking moment of my existence next to her.

He wanted to give her a ring, to make her his wife, his partner for eternity. He wanted to take her to exotic places and make love to her day and night. He remembered her sleeping in his arms and he shivered with excitement. It had given him enormous pleasure just to look at her beautiful face as she slept, unaware that he was watching her. Every time he touched her it felt like the first time, with that sweet excitement, pounding heat, and throbbing loins. That had never happened to him before. He wanted to lie down next to her for hours and talk about anything and everything. He loved the sound of her voice, and every time she touched him, he was consumed with an intense feeling that was remarkable, pain and pleasure rolled into one.

He sat there, replaying the scenes from their days together over and over—the softness of her skin, the warmth of her body. God! He longed for her with an unbelievable hunger. Finally he shook his head, afraid he would go out of his mind if he couldn’t stop the barrage of erotic thoughts.

He was shocked when he heard the flight attendant announce that they were getting ready to land at Biarritz airport. Walking off the plane he felt lonely and miserable, and he couldn’t wait to get into the car. He fished his phone out of his pocket and hit the send button. Arielle answered on the first ring.

“Hi!”

He melted hearing her soft, sexy voice. This was the voice he could hear in his ears day and night, no matter where he was.

“Hi, baby,” he said, trying to hide his excitement.

“Are you home already?”

“No, I just got off the plane.”

“Is something wrong? You sound a bit down.”

“I am.”

“Why is that?”

“I ache for you, Arielle, I’m lonely and unhappy. I have to have you near me, especially after our last encounter.” His voice was quiet and sad.

“I love you too, Sebastian, and I miss you more than anything in this world.”

“I don’t think I can make it, Arielle. I really hurt! This is a new feeling for me. This ache is like nothing I have ever felt before. I’m now jealous even of the air you breathe without my being there.”

“You have no idea how much I need you,” she replied, her voice soft and inviting, accompanied with a low chuckle.

“Tell me how much you need me,” he begged, wishing he could be kissing her sensuous lips.

“I want your strong arms around me, your lips on mine, and your gorgeous body in my bed. How is that for needing you?” she asked.

He was now sitting in the car with his eyes closed, listening to her voice, not want the conversation to end. Her face filled his mind and made him smile. He exhaled dizzily, just thinking of their time together. If he could cry, he would be crying from loneliness— that is how deep the pain was.

“Arielle, do you love me?”

“As I’ve told you before, more than life itself,” she murmured. “Sebastian, this was the most unbelievable experience, the most astonishing sensation I have ever encountered in my life. I knew that you had turned my world upside down, but never did I imagine anything like this. Making love with you is all I want to do for the rest of my life,” she said, ending with a deep sigh.
