I am momentarily stunned silent, everything she has said hits a little too close to home but I will not let this bitch get to me. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I say to her standing from the desk and meeting her stare.

    “Let
me show you something.” Simmone says and walks to Daemon’s desk, pulling out his bottom drawer and inside is a single framed picture. It’s of her, wearing nothing but an emerald necklace. My heart clinches and I reach my hand down and touch the gift that Daemon gave me days before.

“Between us girls, let me give you some advice.” Simmone pauses dramatically before continuing. “Be smart, put in your time, take the money and run.” Without saying anything more, she turns and glides out of the office.

I sit looking at the picture, unsure of what I should do next but before I have a chance to decide Daemon is standing in the door way of his office.

   “
Vivienne are you alright?” he asked, concerned. He must have noticed my expression and makes his way to me.

“So, I guess it’s true.” I say and hand the photo to him.

  “Where did you get this?”
He barks angrily.

“Why does it matter Daemon?  It’s her isn’t it?  Simmone is the one.”  I say accusingly.

“Yes, for a time we had a relationship.”  D
aemon says without hesitation. “But it is over now Vivienne.”

“Don’t lie to me Daemon.” I yell, unable to control my voice.  “Was all this just a game to you?” I demand.

“You want honesty; I’m giving it to you. I wanted nothing more than a physical connection. That is why I first thought we would be a good match.”  Daemon explains. The truth hurts so much that I start to cry.

“I am sorry if that is not what you want to hear, but that’s the truth.” I feel my cheeks getting damp as more tears flow from my eyes.

“Just tell me why. Why would you make someone fall in love with you?”

“Because I could
.” He confesses.

At his admission, my heart starts racing.  I feel my head spinning, as memories are flashing through my mind.  I have felt like this before.  Panic sets in and I cannot breathe.  Daemon reaches for me and I move away.  I can’t stop the tears from falling from my eyes, but I can stop him from touching me.

“She told me I was stupid for believing you were in love with me.  She said that is what you’re good at.  Damn it! I have been hurt all my life.  I always find a way to patch myself back up and keep going, but you, Daemon, have just shattered me.”  Now I am sobbing.

“Vivienne, please, I need you to...” he starts but I cut him off mid sentence.  “What Daemon?  What do you need
me
for? I’m sure you can go through your list of previous companions for company.” I say, throwing my hand in the direction Simmone left in.

“She is nothing Vivienne, she means nothing to me, and she never did. Yes, there may have been gifts to others, but they were nothing like yours, I didn’t take them out to dinner, introduce them to my family, or welcome them into my home.   You are special, but if you want to taint the memories we have made that's up to you.” He pleads with me.

“I should have told you that it was Simmone, instead of you finding out this way. I know you're unsure if you can ever trust me again.” Daemon continues and reaches for me.

"It's not that Daemon. It’s just that I don’t know if I even want to." I turn and walk away. I still hear him calling for me as I walk out the door, but I don't even look back.

I feel so heart sick from the argument with Daemon that when my phone rings and I look down surprised that I want it to be him calling.

   “Hello, Vivienne, this is Nikki.”

“Yes, how are you and the boys?” I say being polite.

“I heard what happened today.” She says quietly “I want you to know it’s my fault.” Her fault? How can any of this possibly be her fault? “Daemon asked for my help but I forgot to pick up your gift from the jewelers, I called the office and Simmone offered to pick it up for him. She planned the whole thing”

“I don’t understand why she would do something like that.” I say “She doesn’t even know me.”

Nikki sighs deeply before she speaks, “You make Daemon complete.  Part of him was lost after our parents died.  Nothing made him come alive again until he was with you.”

I don’t know what to think, my head and my heart and at war and it’s making me dizzy. A noise from outside draws my attention back to the conversation. “Daemon is pulling in” I say softly, “I need to go.”

“Alright, you and I are going to see the sunrise in the morning.  I think you could use some time away.”  Nikki suggests

“Sounds like a plan.  Thanks again.”  I say and hang up.

“Let’s go out for dinner tonight.” Daemon says when he finds me in the bedroom. I nod my head sadly without looking at his face. We ride on the back of his bike to an old French restaurant. “I remembered you said you love French food.” Daemon says reaching for my hand and helping me from the bike and I can see he is trying to make up for this afternoon.

After our food has arrived my mood starts to lift, “Daemon, this is such a great surprise. Thank you.” I say with a small smile.

“Here try this.” Daemon says and feeds me from his plate.

“Mmm, this is amazing.” I say, licking my lips.

“Vivienne, I plan on you remembering this night forever.” Daemon says to me. As the night goes on, Daemon can’t seem to stop touching me or kissing me, he is making me feel special, and I try and enjoy it. We finish our meals and as we are getting back on the bike he says, “Let’s go home and light a fire.” I smile up at him in response.

“You lay right there, I’ll be right back.”  Daemon says hurrying off. Soon he comes back with an easel, canvas and paints.  “I want to paint you Vivienne. You are so beautiful.” He says runs a hand down my face. I am propped up on pillows in front of the fire in a provocative pose. After what seems like hours of watching him work, he turns the canvas towards me and I start to cry.  It is absolutely beautiful; I couldn’t have imagined that anyone could ever see me like he does.

“Kiss me Daemon, please.” He dives for me and we sit kissing and touching in front of the fireplace like new lovers.

He stops
only long enough to whisper into my ear, “Tu es tellement humide"” OMG! He is speaking to me in French.

“What did you say?”
I ask

He brings his lips to my ear, “You’re so wet” he replies huskily, “I love how wet you get for me, always so ready.”

He slowly slips inside me, filling me completely. When my body stops trembling he curls me into his chest and spoons me for the rest of the night.

Chapter
Sixteen

I awaken in the early morning and can feel Daemon’s erection pressing against my bottom. I make small deliberate movements with my hips, enough to wake up Daemon and stir him to action and he rips the covers off of us.

“Bend your knees” Daemon growls, as he lowers himself to align with my core. I obey as he slides his tongue up the fold of my pussy then he inserts two fingers.  He pushed them in and out and then he quickly pushes them into my anus.

“Aah! What was that?!” I exclaim, my back arching off the bed.
“Oh you like that do you?” he asks withdrawing his hand, teasing me. “Do you want more?”

“Yes Daemon! Please, I need more.”  I beg.

He
replaces his fingers deep inside of me several more times until I finally beg him to stop.  “Please Daemon I need a break I can’t take anymore.” I say in a whiny voice.

Your body can take it, it was made for this, and it was made for me.”  He says climbing up my humming body and flipping me over, before thrusting into my backside hard. I felt a sharp twinge of pain and then after a moment I felt like I was going to explode from the inside out.  I begin screeching and screaming like a banshee.  My breath hitches as Daemon reaches down to rub my clit. I meet his rhythm and push back against him; I become crazed grabbing the sheets and pillows on the bed. I am on the edge of a huge orgasm, and when it arrives my entire body shakes taking him over the edge with me.

I lay there in the sexual haze of it feeling so satisfied and at the same time different. Giving myself completely to him made me feel euphoric and happy.

Four in the morning comes too soon; I wake with the alarm blaring.  I walk half asleep into the bathroom and find Daemon there.

“You are up
kind of early” he said.

“I could say the same about you.” Pointing out his morning wood, and looking at him hungrily.

“You
keep looking at me like that I will be.” Daemon replied and I start to laugh.

I’m sorry about earlier, I guess I surprised us both. It felt so good once I was there I didn’t want to stop." he said.

"You’re joking right?  How could I mind you putting me in total orgasm bliss?!” He laughed at my remark, I love seeing those lips when he smiles. That dimple in his chin, his beautiful eyes.

"I wasn’t sure. Most women say exit only, and it’s not like I asked you about that.”  Now it’s my turn to laugh.

“Daemon for future reference, you can do whatever you want with me any time.” And for the second time this week I find myself almost to the point of tears.

“What is it Vivienne did I upset you?  I’m so sorry.” Daemon asked concern etched in his handsome face, and his apology made the tears come even harder.

“No, No Daemon. You did nothing it’s just me.” I say wiping the tears from my face with back of my hand.

“Vivienne I know we haven’t known each other that long, but I want you to know you can talk to me and tell me when anything is wrong.” he says.

“I know, but it’s nothing. I better get ready to meet Nikki.” I kiss his cheek before I get into the shower.

Nikki and I sat on the edge of the beach watching the sun rise. I have been trying to figure out a way to start this conversation; I just had to talk to someone.

“Do you love my brother?” she suddenly asks. I am shocked by her direct question. She doesn’t wait for my answer before she continues, “He has always been so strong and seeing him like this, happy and confident makes me happy.”  Nikki confides. “I can look at you and tell that you love each other.  What is it that’s holding you back?” she asks.

“It’s complicated, there’s just so much in my past.” I say, trailing off.

“Sometimes, to move forward we have to completely let go of what is in our past. Just throw it all away.” She says in reply to my vague answer. This girl is good.

“Something strange is happening to me.” I say. “I can’t control my feelings anymore.” Nikki leans in close and holds my hands in hers.

“The feeling you are having Vivienne, is the pain that comes with falling in love.” She says smiling at me and pulling me into a tight hug.

After Nikki drops me back off at Daemon’s I call for reinforcements. “It’s lucky for you that you have met someone who can handle you.” Cheri says on the other line during our 3 way call. I have spent the last half hour on the phone with them replaying everything that has happened in detail.

"Maybe there is something wrong with me” I say and start crying.

“Don’t cry Viv, just talk to Daemon.  I’m sure it’s not too late.  You still have three days left.” Lauren says cheerfully.

Chapter Seventeen

Knowing that our time together was coming to an end, I had a lot to figure out.  Lauren, Cheri, and Nikki were right, how the hell was I going to live without this man?  This man that I love…Omg I just said it again to myself.  How did I become this…this... this girl again!  A foolish, stupid girl who was ready to give up her power, and control over herself for the love of a man.  I mean, the love of a man doesn’t come with any guarantees, I should know. I have the boxes to prove it. Having made up my mind about what I need to do, I grab my phone to text Daemon.
