Frozen to the spot in front of the refrigerator, I closed my eyes briefly when he halted in front of me, then took a deep breath and pressed my palms flat on his chest to keep him at a distance. “Lovello, please don’t. My mother will be here any minute now.”

He leaned in closer, slowly curving a hand behind me. “Please don’t what, beauts?”

His scent of Tom Ford soap and male invaded my nostrils.
Real
male. “Please don’t touch me. Not now. I can’t manage…”

Lovello made three slow, lazy blinks of his eyes while he leaned in closer and closer, then revealed a devilish smile and pulled on the handle of the refrigerator with the hand that he had behind me, causing cool air to rush out around us. “I just came to get a drink, is all,” he whispered, pressing his chest in my face as he leaned further in to take avitamin water from the refrigerator behind me.

My face remained buried against the hardness of his chest as he took longer than normal to take the damned bottle of vitamin water out. Finally he closed the door and stood back, unscrewing the cover of the bottle and quaffing half its contents, then wiping his lips with the back of his hand, releasing an “Ah” sound. In slow movements, he replaced the cover on the bottle while giving me an impish grin. “I was really, really, really, thirsty…”

He set the bottle down on the countertop and started out of the kitchen. Just when I started to release a calming sigh, he pivoted and pounced on me, pushing me up against the cold stainless steel of the fridge and crashing his lips down on mine, his tongue making a massive invasion of my mouth.

Savior …

“But apparently the only thing that can quench my thirst, Axia, is you,” he mumbled against my lips, bracing himself against me, his arousal digging into my stomach.

As always, I melted, whimpering in his kisses and clawing my fingers through his hair. His lifted my left leg and hooked it around his waist, bracing himself more forcefully against me while emitting faint groans. The minute he started running his hand up between my jeans-clad thighs, the doorbell rang.

“Shit,” Lovello grumbled.

My lips itched to grumble the same thing, too. I was high on arousal and in dire need of him. When I tried to pull away, Lovello pushed harder against me, grinding me up the fridge. “No,” he muttered.

“Love…” I was breathless. “We can’t keep my mother waiting.”

Right on cue, the doorbell rang again.

Lovello released a frustrated grunt and pushed away from me. “To be continued…”

I laughed and tipped up to give him one last kiss. “I’ll be tuning in.”

“Just give me a minute to go and calm down this excited boy. I’m afraid your mother might have a heart attack if the first thing she sees is my dick pointing straight at her.”

He turned and left, awkwardly adjusting his crotch area in an attempt to abate the big boy. Clearly he had no idea who my mother was to think she’d have a heart attack at the sight of his arousal. The over-sexual woman was more likely to be the one doing the attacking.

I swung open the front door, and there stood Seleste D’costa-Blacksille. Her curvaceous, sun-kissed body was poured into a V-cut, leopard mid-thigh dress that had her natural D-cups perching impeccably on her chest. Her coal-dark hair tumbled in waves around her shoulders, her full, bow-shaped lips painted a deep, dark red. Her lashes were lengthened and highlighted by smoky eyeshadow, and her nose was as straight and cute as mine. The woman was, unequivocally, stunning. She didn’t look anywhere near her age and people tended to pass us off as sisters — though her rump was a whole lot bigger than mine. The difference was that she was sensual, and I mean
sensual
. The way she walked with an exaggerated swing of her hips, the way she talked at a slow lingering pace, the way she dressed in the most provocative apparels and delighted in male attention, was everything opposite to me.

“Axia, baby,” she drawled, throwing her hands around me.

“Hey, Mom.”

She air-kissed my cheeks and pulled away. “You look flushed, are you okay?”

Shoot. Damn Lovello for getting me all worked up. “Of course. I’m fine. I’ve just been fluttering about the kitchen all day, that’s all,” I replied, moving aside for her to enter the house.

“Dios, yes. My mind has been on that meal all day. Dina can never prepare it the way you do. I need to hire some —” Seleste stopped on a gasp and I turned to see Lovello standing a few feet away from us, looking like his usual Adonis self with a small smile on his face, his eyebrows slightly raised. No doubt surprised at the sight of my mother and her unimaginable curves.

“I should have known you were lying, baby,” Seleste said, her eyes glued to Lovello. “You’re the calmest when you’re in the kitchen. This ball-of-orgasm posing as a man is the reason you’re flushed, aren’t you?”

Now I was actually flushing. Typical Seleste. “Mom, stop.” Stepping between them both, I made hand gestures. “Love, meet my mother, Seleste D’costa-Blacksille. Mom, this is Lovello Nelson.”

Seleste held out her hand and Lovello took it with a lopsided smile. “Nice to meet you, Miss Blacksille.”

Seleste shook Lovello’s hand in her usual languorous manner. “Were you born like everyone else or were you hand-fashioned by a group of horny female deities?”

Lovello bit down on his lip, a sign that he was grinding down a laugh. “Born like all.”

Seleste finally released Lovello’s hand on a dramatic sigh and turned her eyes to me. “Dios mío, Axia. ¿Dónde encontraste este hombre? Es ridículamente hermosa.”

She had to tell me in Spanish that Lovello was ridiculously beautiful, when she was already being so blatantly flirtatious? “Mamá, deja de hacer el hombre incómodo. Y no hay nada grave pasando con él y yo. Es sólo diversión. No se habla más en español.”

Lovello raised a curious brow at our Spanish exchange, which was of nothing but me warning my Mom to behave.

“Okay. Okay.” She turned to Lovello. “It’s nice to meet you, Mr. Nelson.”

“Lovello, please. Shall we eat?”

Before we could move a step, that doorbell rang.

“And
that
would be Trev,” Lovello squeezed through a smothered smile, clearly enjoying some private joke.

I swung open the door to find the handsome face of Trevillo Nelson peering down at me. Trevillo was around the same height as Lovello. He had neatly groomed black hair, dark and fluffy eyelashes with pale blue eyes that sparked with a glint of something wicked. His jaws were high and defined, giving him a sharp-edged look. Neat and sharp, but with a hint of something fiendish. Just like his brothers, he was dangerously handsome. The smile he had on his face disappeared as he stared at me, his eyes narrowing with clear disapproval. He made a bored perusal of my body then shifted his eyes past me and towards Lovello. “She’s pretty and
young
.” He mumbled a “Hi” in a bored and dismissive tone and pushed past me. “The food better be good.”

Standing shocked-still at the door, my mouth agape at this man’s insolence, I glanced at Lovello questioningly. But he only revealed that grin again which said he was enjoying a secret joke and shrugged. “He has a strong aversion to younger women.”

“Jesus!” Trevillo exclaimed. “Is this her sister, Love?”

Lovello didn’t take his eyes off me when his odd grin widened as he said, “No, Trev. It’s her …
mom
.”

I watched as Trevillo stepped up to my mother, giving a gentle sweep of her hair from her shoulders and trailing his knuckles down the length of her arm. “Good evening, gorgeous. I’m Trevillo. I bet you got a pretty name. What is it?”

Seleste, who had already turned up her sensuality a notch, tossed her hair and spoke in her famous seducing tone. “Seleste. SSSeleste with an S.”

Inertia had me grounded, and Lovello hadn’t taken his eyes off me the entire time. He just stood there in front of me biting down on his lip, his back turned to Trevillo and Seleste as if he already knew that this was going to happen so he needn’t look. He leaned in to whisper in my ear. “But he has a strong appetite for older, married or divorced women.”

Finally having the ability to move, I slammed the door with a loud bang and huffed off into the kitchen. This was gross and appalling. And Trevillo had no manners. This dinner was not going to be good.

“Whoa!” Trevillo laughed when I set a large plate of Bandeja Paisa before him, just minutes after we finished our cream of leek soup. “This is
a lot
of food.”

“It is. It’s my favorite dish,” Seleste purred.

My mother loved it when I cooked. She wasn’t a kitchen person in the least. I learned all my culinary skills from her sister, my aunt, who’s the head chef at my mother’s top restaurant back in Colombia. Next to fitness, being in the kitchen was something I enjoyed.

Lovello had requested I leave the poached eggs off his dish; everything else he was attacking with his fork. The evening seemed to be going well for everyone except me, because Trevillo and my mother were being highly inappropriate and Lovello was enjoying every minute of it.

“This is really good,” Trevillo mumbled around a mouthful of food. “I guess you’re not just pretty, then.”

Placing my elbows on the table, I leaned over into Trevillo’s face. “I don’t like you. Not one bit.”

Trevillo flashed me a wicked grin, looking like the devil’s advocate. “Good. ‘Cause I don’t like you either.”

“My Mom’s in love with my Dad.”

“I like it that way. Nothing gets me more excited than a little game of hide-and-seek.”

Seleste called my name in warning at the same time Lovello called Trevillo’s name in warning. But Trevillo and I sat still, trading death-stares at the other. On his side, it was pure enjoyment. While on my side, I wanted to smack that smug look off his face. Without breaking eye contact with me, he tenderly placed his hand on my mother’s arm and said, “Would you like me to cut that steak for you, Beauty Queen?”

Of course, Seleste simpered. This was her. All her. She loved the attention. And now that she was pissed at my father, it was without doubt that she would be seducing Trevillo as equally as he was seducing her. She liked to have fun, but refused to get entangled with anyone because of her undying love for my father. And it was clear that Trevillo steered clear of younger women, and took delight in women who were already tangled in order to avoid commitment.

“Axia, no puedo creer que hay dos de estas criaturas divinas,” Seleste directed at me with sparkling eyes.

“Tres, realidad,” I muttered. “Pero no se puede dormir con el hermano del hombre que me estoy acostando.”

“¿Por qué no?” she retorted. “Usted dijo que no había nada serio entre ustedes dos. Que es sólo por diversión. Nunca des tu corazón a nadie, pero Zane. ¿Por qué no puedo tener un poco de diversión, también?”

My mother’s mention of Zane made me shift uncomfortably in my seat. I raised my eyes to find Trevillo glaring daggers at me and then at Lovello who was staring down at his plate, a slight frown creasing between his brows.

“Oh for crying out loud, entendemos españoles, Axia,” Trevillo shot at me.

Crap …

“Seleste says she can’t believe that there’s two of us, and you said no, there’s actually three of us, but that she can’t sleep with the brother of the man you’re sleeping with. She asks why not, since you and Lovello are
not
serious about each other and your heart belongs to some other dude.” Trevillo shook his head. “Jeez, can you really look at us and think we don’t understand a common fucking language like Spanish? We speak
seven
different languages, silly girl.”

This man was detestable! My disdain for him was growing vaster by the minute. He’s just so … blatant and impertinent.

Instantly, I could hear Romaine’s voice laughing in my head and saying ‘you’ve met your match, hermana.’

Only because I hated this man so much, I chose to play this off Axia-style. “And your point, Assface?”

He heaved a breath to retort but Lovello halted him. “Chill, Trev. It’s what she said it is: Just fun.”

Trevillo gave me a true glower now, which meant that earlier he was just messing with me when he said he didn’t like me either. But now, this glower told me I was on his shit list. Oh well, he’d been on mine since he’d dismissed me with bored eyes at my door.

He leaned over to Seleste, who didn’t seem to care that her loose lips had caused potential problems with me and Lovello, and had also led Trevillo to think that I was playing his brother. “So, Seleste, what do you do? Are you a trophy wife?”

My mother gave her known take-me-to-bed sigh and I rolled my eyes. “No. I’m divorced, actually. But I still bear my ex-husband’s name. I own a chain of restaurants back in Colombia. I’m just here for a little while to visit my kids…”

Morbidly irritated, I tuned them out, and shifted my eyes to an expressionless Lovello who was sitting calm and collected beside me, devouring almost everything from his plate. I, unfortunately, had lost my appetite. This was not the evening I had anticipated. And I was hoping Lovello wasn’t affected by any of the inane bickering, because I was eagerly looking forward to a night of thorough and complete bed-romping. Hell, just thinking about having his huge head pressing inside me had me squirming under the table.
